Storyline China speeds up next-gen telecom network construction China has been accelerating the construction of its next-gen telecommunications network this year with infrastructure upgrades and a focus on innovation. Last year, the country established 136 pilot programs to test a 10-gigabit optical network, including in Chongqing Municipality at chemical plants, industrial parks, factories, and residential communities. Beyond the 10-gigabit optical network, China has also upgraded its 5G base stations to 5G-Advanced, or 5G-A, to meet demad from emerging industries, like embodied AI. China has been accelerating its satellite internet infrastructure by launching several batches of satellites into orbit, and has also direct-to-cell satellite communication.
