China: Electronics makers flock to China's tech hub Shenzhen.

【Voice_over】 The global maker community for electronics-hobbyists, engineers and entrepreneurs who build next gen electronic gadgets-has found a home in Huaqiangbei, the world's largest electronics market located in southern China. It's a massive multi-floor shopping center slash private one-person company incubator site with more than 115,000 business entities and 30,000 or so entrepreneurs. The benefit of making and building products in your own workspace so close to the supply of products that you may need is obvious. An engineer at one tech company here has leveraged the proximity of the supply chain to create a hearing aid that costs one U.S. dollar. 【Sound_bite】 Zhang Chongxiao, head of China region, Butlr Technologies: "Like these components, if they are in stock, I will spend several minutes going downstairs and buying them. We have to produce the product as quickly as possible; otherwise, others, who have similar ideas, dominate the market." 【Voice_over】 Today, walking the isles of Huaqiangbei, you can see the faces of overseas entrepreneurs everywhere. Most people like this maker from the U.S., are blown away by the immediate availability and wide range of raw electronic components. 【Sound_bite】 Paul Coase, American entrepreneur: "I don't think there's any other place on the Earth like Huaqiangbei. I think it's super powerful. You can build anything here, you can do a very afford here. So because of these modules, for example, I can build something that I wouldn't even have the capability to do years ago." 【Sound_bite】 Hank Werner, founder, Huaqiangbei Makerspace: "We liked it here, and our members liked it here. And I think Huaqiangbei is a really good location for this. Last year we had six people here, and now we have about eighteen people." 【Voice_over】 The market is also a well-known tourist destination for tech curious people looking to stock up, some even arrive with empty suitcases to carry their haul back home.
