It's more like a classroom, where students learn how to work with robots." Aigerim Kali, Reporter: "And thousands of kilometers away in Almaty, a similar classroom is helping train a new generation of tech talent." So why is a Chinese robotics company taking its education model into Kazakh classrooms? Based in Suzhou in east China, this robotics company is busy training students and teachers during the summer break. As AI and smart manufacturing accelerate worldwide, education and talent development are also adapting to keep pace. That is prompting more Chinese robotics manufacturers to make training part of their business. Li Wen, Director, International and Key Account Business Department, Jiangsu Huibo Robotics: "We focus on emerging fields like industrial robotics, artificial intelligence, and the industrial internet. We help establish professional standards, develop curriculum, train talent, and build lab facilities." Exporting not just robots, but the expertise to put them to work… this model is now going global. This is Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, one of Central Asia’s leading institutions for education, research and innovation. At its Digital-Intelligence Workshop, students and experts come together to explore artificial intelligence and the latest advances in digital technology. Akzhol Tumarbay, student at Digital-Intelligence Workshop: “Here, we develop our engineering skills through hands-on practice. For example, we work with robotic manipulators, which help us strengthen our skills in controlling, operating, and programming robotic systems.” Meyir Israyiluly, student at Digital-Intelligence Workshop: “Since this workshop opened, working here has given us many new opportunities. We’ve already worked on several projects, and the workshop provides us with the tools, equipment and practical experience we need to develop our skills.” And the training is turning into real-world opportunities. Margulan Ibragimov, vice-rector, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University: “Students from universities across Almaty come here to learn and gain practical skills. So far, around 100 students have trained here and are now working in the industry and at various companies.” For Kazakhstan, the ambition extends beyond individual projects. Its national digital transformation agenda through 2030 places AI, digital infrastructure, innovation and cybersecurity at the heart of its development plans.
