A fight over expert witness testimony is taking center stage ahead of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s trial over their 2024 movie ‘It Ends With Us.’ Jury selection begins on May 18. Lively’s attorneys expect it will take three to four weeks to present their case, while Baldoni’s team may request a similar timeframe. Neither star attended a three-hour pretrial conference before Judge Lewis Liman, where their attorneys debated expert evidence on Lively’s reputational harm and economic losses. Lively is seeking to present expert estimates that place her losses from the dispute between $39-$143 million. One expert linked the actress’s losses to her businesses, Blake Brown and Betty Booze, and projected a $35 million payday from a potential 'It Ends With Us' sequel. Baldoni’s attorneys called the projections “speculative and wildly inflated,” arguing that the four films she’s appeared in over the last eight years only netted her roughly $21 million. Judge Liman did not rule on whether the testimony would be permitted and instead scheduled a hearing next week for both sides to question the experts.
