“Keffe D” Davis Found Guilty In Tupac Shakur Murder

Former gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been convicted of first-degree murder for orchestrating the 1996 drive-by shooting that killed Tupac Shakur. A Las Vegas jury deliberated for about three hours to reach the verdict, marking a long-awaited reckoning in the decades-old case. Davis pleaded not guilty and did not testify at trial, which centered heavily on his previous public admissions about the shooting. Prosecutors argued Davis organized the attack as “gang retaliation” after Shakur, Suge Knight, and others beat Davis’ nephew, Orlando Anderson. The attack took place inside the MGM Grand casino about two hours before Shakur was shot near the Las Vegas Strip. The prosecution’s case relied heavily on a recorded 2008 interview where Davis described riding in the Cadillac used during the shooting. Davis recounted how Anderson grabbed a loaded 40-caliber Glock and opened fire on the BMW carrying Shakur and Knight. Davis is scheduled to be sentenced on October 13 and faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
