Jon Stewart Blasts Trump’s Relaxed Stance To AI

Jon Stewart has criticized US President Donald Trump’s response to concerns surrounding artificial intelligence during a recent episode of ‘The Daily Show.’ Stewart discussed the growing concerns about AI and the impact that data centers could have on local communities. He also highlighted fears surrounding rogue AI agents, noting that Trump had invited major AI leaders to the White House “to finally address the concerns of the American people.” During the White House summit, Trump reportedly suggested AI companies should police themselves. Stewart then asked, “What, did they give you millions of dollars or something?” Stewart later pretended to receive information through his earpiece before saying, “I’m being told they gave him millions of dollars.” He questioned how tech companies could regulate themselves while having a financial interest in the technology. “How can you justify letting the tech giants regulate themselves?” he asked. Stewart also addressed warnings about AI potentially causing catastrophic harm. After playing clips of Mark Zuckerberg, he quipped, “There’s definitely a chance AI will kill us all.”
