I don't mean to be a drag, but if you want to know what is drag in fishing you are in the right place. Dwight Norris here from https://fishingatwork.com . I made this little video to teach people a little something about "drag". Every fishermen has to at some point messed with their drag setting. I am sure you might have done something wrong.
You probably remember having it too loose and losing a nice fish because you weren't able to properly set the hook. You may have set it too tight and lost a fish to a line break. You may have even gotten hung on something and the tight tension pulled you and the rod and reel right off the boat! I for one commend you for not letting go of your priceless possession.
Learning to set your drag is not a hard thing to do. It is different for each type of reel, line weight and fish you hope to catch. Depending on the situation you will want the drag set to a certain tension. In most cases you don't have to mess with this much since each setup is usually for a particular type of fish. However, once you go saltwater fish and have to deal with a flounder, striped bass or a tuna you will see it's importance.
Tell me what you thought about this video. I am always trying to improve. If you haven't heard yet the Everyday Fishing System will be released soon. It will help you finally find more time to go fishing instead of wishing!
