If you're deciding between a regular walker and a rollator, then this video is for you
0:04
Today I'm comparing the two-wheel walker versus the four-wheel Vochik Z21 rollator
0:09
And we're going to start with assembly. So one of these is going to assemble a lot quicker than the other
0:13
and that's going to be the one by Drive Medical. And that's because there's less parts on this
0:17
And the hardest thing to do is going to be to attach these feet. And I'm saying hard because everything else is super simple
0:23
You just push it in place, push the pin, and then make sure to get it through the hole and it locks into place and there's going to be eight
0:31
different adjustment levels each with one inch increments and the next part to do would be to
0:35
fold this or unfold this and it'll open just like so now the vocik is going to have more parts but
0:42
it's still going to be easy to assemble and starting with the bottom part it's going to have
0:46
the same type of mechanism before just with this push button although on this wheel there's actually
0:52
going to be two push buttons so you are going to have to use two fingers and then push this inside
0:56
to actually make it work. And then up top, it's gonna be a bit different
1:00
and that's because it has this screw. So you are gonna have to unscrew this part, just like that
1:07
And then you can put the handle inside and then adjust it however you like In this case I gonna put put the highest setting there I found it and then I can lock that in place
1:19
And there it is. And there's two other things to do. That's going to be to attach the backrest, which is fairly simple as well too
1:26
This just slides into place, and the cap can be installed. And then the storage part, which is fairly simple
1:33
although you do have to pay attention to this. That's because it has to go through this part right here
1:37
and that can be sometimes a little bit tricky and then when you push it in push it all the way
1:41
so it kind of locks against this so this accidentally can't be pulled out and when it
1:45
comes to adjusting both of these are going to be fairly simple too the one by drive medical again
1:50
it just has that push pin you just push it inside to lock it into place and you're gonna have to do
1:54
that four times on all four legs and when it comes to the one by vochik it's gonna have that
2:00
same mechanism as i talked about before except this one on the back is gonna have two and this
2:05
This is going to adjust the height and this is going to be for the seat. And when you want to adjust the handles, you're going to have to use this one over here as
2:11
mentioned before. Now weight is another factor that determines how easy it is to move around or lift up to
2:17
a car. And the one by Drive Medical is going to be extremely lightweight
2:21
Right now this reads 5 pounds and when compared to the Votric one this is going read 20 pounds So it gonna be nearly four times heavier than this one
2:33
Now, storage is gonna be one of those features that only this Rollator has, and it's gonna be right over here
2:38
So on the front, you're gonna get this baggie, and you can just unzip it. And it's gonna have okay space
2:46
so if you wanna fit something like a purse, or if you wanna fit a shoe in here for some reason
2:51
it does fit. This is a size 12 shoe. And then you can just zip it back up
2:56
And there's a few ways where you can use this baggie. For starters, this should be locked into place
3:01
And you can just kind of go down, use the baggie like this. Or if you are sitting down, you can turn around, put your hand over, and unzip it
3:10
Although it might be a little tricky if the zipper gets caught. Although this zipper actually is pretty easy to use
3:16
And now braking is going to be another feature that only the rollator has. and the handbrakes are going to be right over here
3:23
You're just going to have to pull this upwards and this will engage the brakes. And this is also very easy and very comfortable to use
3:29
compared to other rollators that I tested out. And if you want to fully engage the brakes
3:33
without having to just constantly hold it, this just pushes down and there you go it stays still And when you want to unlock it just pull it upwards And again that very easy to do and when it comes to using these these are going to be a bit different that
3:46
because with a walker you would normally have to constantly lift up and move around like this which
3:53
is pretty easy as well too and it does have the wheels so you can actually drag this along just
3:58
keep in mind because there's no wheels on the back side you are going to be potentially scratching
4:03
whatever floor you do have at the bottom. In this case, this is wood, so it might leave some streaks
4:08
It might scratch it, but when we compare that to a rollator, the rollator, you're meant to roll
4:13
around. It has the four wheels, so it makes moving a lot easier. You can also move a bit quicker with
4:18
it because there are wheels here, and when you want to brake, just hold those brakes, and there
4:23
you go. You just rely on these rather than relying on yourself to stop. Now, which one should you get
4:29
Well, that depends on how much support you need. If you don't need that much support, then something like this two-wheel walker would
4:35
be good, since you are lifting it up constantly and moving it around
4:39
But if you want to be able to put more weight onto it and be able to roll, and you still have some hand strength, then something like a rollator would work
4:46
And on top of that, you also are getting the seat, so if you do get tired after a bit
4:50
you could just stop and sit down over here, and there's even options to store things
