The El Paso Police Department released body camera footage on Saturday, August 1, showing the moment of the crash on Interstate 10 in El Paso, Texas, on July 25. Police said a motorcycle officer was checking a driver's license with emergency lights activated when another driver failed to control speed, narrowly missed the officer and crashed into the stopped vehicle. The force of the crash pushed the stopped vehicle about 500 feet (150 metres) along the shoulder, leaving its driver with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver who caused the crash was cited for failure to control speed causing a collision.
