US: Air Tanker Drops Fire Retardant As California Wildfire Sends Smoke Over Coast.

Timber Cove, United States - July 30, 2026 Video filmed by CAL FIRE LNU shows an air tanker flying over a massive plume of thick brown and white smoke rising from a forested hillside during the Woodside Fire. The aircraft banks before releasing a load of pink fire retardant that trails through the air and falls into the smoke and trees below. Tall eucalyptus and other trees frame parts of the scene under a clear blue sky as the plane continues its pass. The Woodside Fire remained at approximately 75 acres with 20% containment, with crews making progress toward containment. Resources assigned included one Air Attack, five Air Tankers, four helicopters, 32 engines, five dozers, 14 hand crews, four water tenders, and 320 personnel. Drift smoke from the fire moved into the North Bay, creating smoky conditions and reduced air quality. Evacuation orders and warnings remained in effect, with residents in affected areas advised to remain prepared and follow instructions from emergency officials. Aerial and infrared footage also captured the fire burning along a forested coastal ridge near the Pacific Ocean. A long column of white and gray smoke streamed inland and along the coastline, while thermal views showed active fire lines moving through the timber. The Woodside Fire burned along the Sonoma Coast near Highway 1 on July 30 and July 31, 2026. The fire prompted evacuations and the opening of a temporary evacuation shelter at El Molino High School in Forestville.
