Syria: Kurds Defy Central Government In North Syria.

Al Hasakah, Syria - May 08, 2026 Supporters of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) stormed a courthouse in the city of Hasakah in northeastern Syria and removed a sign bearing the words “Syrian Arab Republic.” Local residents said the Kurdish group allegedly assaulted security guards stationed at the building before raising flags associated with Kurdish-led autonomous authorities.
