Syria: Syrian and Kurdish Forces Begin Redeployment in Syria.

Al Hasakah, Syria - August 20, 2026 Several joint checkpoints between Kurdish security forces and Syrian government-affiliated security forces in Hasakah province have reportedly been dismantled as part of the ongoing implementation of the government–SDF agreement, with local reports saying government-affiliated personnel are withdrawing from some positions. A gradual redeployment from the Tel Hamis area toward Tel Koçer is reportedly expected to follow, as Damascus and the SDF continue arrangements to integrate Kurdish security structures into Syria’s state institutions.
