Erbil, Iraq - October 08, 2026 At least two explosive-laden drones targeted a civilian camp belonging to an Iranian Kurdish opposition group in the Khabat district of Erbil province, in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, late Thursday, according to local media and regional authorities. The attack reportedly sparked a major fire, prompting civil defence teams and security forces to respond. The Kurdistan Region’s Counterterrorism Directorate said there were no casualties. Local reports described the incident as the first attack in Erbil since the withdrawal of US troops.
