VARIOUS OF PEOPLE FANNING THEMSELVES IN PIAZZA DELLA SCALA / SFORZA CASTLEMILAN, ITALY - JUNE 25, 2026: A heatwave affecting large parts of Europe continued across Italy, placing 17 cities under a red alert as temperatures approached 40 degrees Celsius. In Milan, tourists and residents sought relief from the heat by using umbrellas, hats and portable fans at some of the city’s most popular landmarks. Others cooled off near fountains or spent time in shaded areas, while many gathered in Sempione Park, where some sunbathed on the grass despite the high temperatures. Authorities issued red alerts for several Italian cities as the African heatwave continued to impact the country.
