Iran: U.S. Forces Launch New Wave Of Retaliatory Strikes Against Iran After Strait Of Hormuz Attacks.
Jul 9, 2026
Iran - July 08, 2026 U.S. Central Command forces completed a new round of offensive strikes against Iran on July 7, carrying out precision attacks on more than 80 targets as an immediate response to Iran's latest attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats in and near the strait. The operation was aimed at degrading Iran's ability to continue attacking international commerce moving through the international trade corridor. Iran recently attacked three commercial vessels transiting the strait, including the Marshall Islands flagged M T Al Rekayyat, the Saudi Arabia flagged M T Wedyan, and the Liberia flagged M T Cyprus Prosperity. U.S. Central Command said the attacks by Iranian forces were an unwarranted act of aggression, describing them as a clear and dangerous violation of the ceasefire that undermines freedom of navigation. CENTCOM forces remain postured and prepared to hold Iran accountable when the agreement is not adhered to or obeyed.
