The wreck of the Mayuree Naree, which was sailing from the United Arab Emirates to India when it was struck by a missile about 50 nautical miles northwest of Dubai, remains grounded off Qeshm Island. The ship drifted toward Qeshm after being hit and ran aground near the coast. It is no longer operational. Iranian authorities have yet to remove the wreck, which lies about 30 meters from the shoreline and poses a safety risk, according to local fishermen. Fishermen in the area said some children had climbed onto the wreck and jumped into the sea, and that some people had died in such incidents because the water near the shore is shallow. The fishermen said the wreck continues to pose a danger and that local residents have avoided approaching it following the reported deaths.
