MOTION GRAPHICS SHOWING AREAS TARGETED BY US AND IRANIAN STRIKESIRAN - SEPT. 2, 2026: The US and Iran exchanged strikes on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 1-2, as tensions between the two countries escalated following attacks on targets in Iran and US military facilities in neighboring countries. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced late Tuesday that it had launched strikes against targets belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran. Iran's IRGC later said it attacked several US military facilities in neighboring countries, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq, describing the attacks as retaliation for US strikes on residential areas in Iran a day earlier. Following CENTCOM's announcement, Iranian media reported explosions on Qeshm Island and in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and Konarak.
