VARIOUS OF COMMEMORATION CEREMONYTEHRAN, IRAN - MAY 24, 2026: A commemoration ceremony was held at Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla Mosque in the Iranian capital Tehran on Sunday, May 24, for those who lost their lives in attacks launched by the US and Israel against Iran on Feb. 28. Participants chanted slogans against the US and Israel during the event. Regional tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched strikes against Iran in February. Tehran retaliated with strikes targeting Israel as well as US allies in the Gulf, along with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. A ceasefire took effect on April 8 through Pakistani mediation and was later extended by Trump indefinitely.
