EGYPTIAN FLAG WAVING ON BOAT RED SEA (RECENT AUGUST, 2026): Egypt's Gubal Island, located in the Strait of Gubal between the Red Sea and the Sinai Peninsula, is attracting diving enthusiasts with its rich marine life and historic shipwrecks. Accessible through daily boat trips from Hurghada, the island lies near the Suez Canal shipping route and has become a popular destination for divers and underwater photographers. An historic barge wreck dating back to the 1800s has developed into a habitat for diverse marine species, while the surrounding waters are also known for their population of moray eels. With diving depths ranging from around 14 to 25 meters, visitors can spend extended periods underwater and observe a wide variety of marine life during both daytime and nighttime dives.
