BODIES BEING CARRIED INTO AMBULANCE FOR BURIALGAZA, PALESTINE - JULY 01: A funeral was held on July 1 for three Palestinians, including a child, who were killed in an Israeli strike targeting a motorcycle in the Esda area north of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The bodies were brought to Nasser Hospital before being buried after relatives bid their final farewell. Families and mourners attending the funeral wept as they said goodbye to those killed in the attack. Abu Mohammed Asfur, the uncle of Palestinian child Adil Jihad Asfur, said claims of a humanitarian ceasefire did not reflect the reality on the ground, where attacks, killings, destruction, forced displacement and suffering continued. A Palestinian resident named Haidar said the child had wanted to go to the seaside with his uncle before the strike. He said they had not yet reached the beach when the missile attack hit while their belongings were still with them, killing the uncle and his nephew together. Haidar said the child had no connection to the conflict and was still too young to understand what was happening around him. According to data from Gaza's Ministry of Health, Israeli ceasefire violations since the Oct. 10, 2025 truce took effect have resulted in the deaths of 1,045 Palestinians and injuries to 3,380 others, the majority of them women and children. Since October 2023, over 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 173,000 wounded, in addition to widespread destruction affecting around 90% of Gaza's civilian infrastructure.
