AMJAD ABU ABDU, EYEWITNESS SPEAKING TO CAMERA (Arabic)GAZA CITY, PALESTINE - AUG. 31, 2026: A funeral was held for two Palestinians killed in an Israeli strike near a park in Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip. The two Palestinians were killed when an Israeli military aircraft targeted civilians in the area. Their bodies were taken to Al-Shifa Hospital, where relatives and other mourners gathered for the funeral ceremony. Family members wept as they bid farewell to those killed. The Israeli attacks came despite US President Donald Trump’s call to halt strikes on the Gaza Strip. In an interview with US broadcaster Fox News on Aug. 17, Trump said Israel should not be carrying out strikes on Gaza. Since the ceasefire agreement took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, Tel Aviv's violations of the deal have killed 1,318 Palestinians and injured 4,375 others, while rescue teams have recovered hundreds of bodies from under the rubble. As of Sunday, the number of Palestinians killed by Israel in the Gaza Strip since October 2023 had reached about 73,454, with 174,486 others injured, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.
