In the interview on the sidelines of the ongoing 2026 World AI Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai, Herzog highlighted China's booming robot sector and the critical role that it plays as the country transitions toward "Industry 5.0," the next phase of industrialization that values the bond between humans and advanced technologies and that is built on human-centricity, sustainability, and resilience. In his keynote speech at the opening ceremony of 2026 World AI Conference in Shanghai, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that in China's view, all countries should take a people-centered approach and develop AI for the positive and for good. He said it is vital to ensure that AI is an important driver for shared prosperity and common security, while urging the world to join hands to build a just and equitable system for global AI governance.
