VARIOUS OF OPENING CEREMONY OF YRYS-ORDO STATE CONGRESS CENTER BISHKEK, KYRGYZSTAN - AUG. 31: Kyrgyzstan's capital, Bishkek, is set to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, drawing high-level participation as the bloc celebrates its 25th anniversary. The Council of Heads of State of the SCO and the SCO Plus Summit will be held on Sept. 1 under the chairmanship of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, according to a statement from the Kyrgyz Presidential Press Center. The Bishkek summit brings together China, Russia, India and other SCO members as the organization seeks to deepen cooperation in security, trade, transport and other areas. The significance of the landmark anniversary summit is further underscored by the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, both of whom are scheduled to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event. Running alongside the summit, the Nomad Games will also take place in Kyrgyzstan, adding cultural prominence to the high-profile diplomatic gathering.
