hello my friends it's Danny and today
0:02
I'm showing you how to make the most
0:05
delicious blueberry almond crisp this
0:08
recipe is gluten-free vegan and would be
0:11
so perfect to bring along to all of your
0:13
summer barbecues and cookouts i'd like
0:15
to take a moment to thank my friends at
0:16
Bob's Redm Mill for partnering with me
0:19
on this video if you have friends and
0:21
families with specific dietary needs or
0:24
allergies Bob's makes it so easy to cook
0:26
and bake for them they have a huge
0:29
variety of flowers stone ground whole
0:32
grain organic gluten-free paleo vegan
0:36
you name it they have it so if you're
0:37
looking to do some summer baking or if
0:39
you just want to stock your pantry I
0:41
highly recommend Bob's and I'm going to
0:43
leave a link down in the description box
0:45
below so you can check them out so I've
0:47
got my oven preheating at 350° F and
0:51
then I've got a 9 by9 baking dish that
0:54
I'm adding six cups of blueberries to
0:56
now you don't need to grease the baking
0:59
dish so there's no prep there but for
1:01
the blueberries I like to give them a
1:02
good wash under some cold water and then
1:04
I just pick through them making sure
1:06
that there's no little stems left on the
1:08
blueberries next I'm going to add the
1:10
zest from one lemon which is about a
1:12
half a teaspoon two tablespoons of
1:14
freshsqueezed lemon juice from that very
1:16
same lemon and then 2 tablespoons of
1:19
tapioca flour now tapioca flour is a
1:22
starchy flour that comes from the
1:24
cassava plant and it acts as a natural
1:26
thickener so it's perfect when you're
1:28
doing some type of pie filling like
1:29
we're doing here then I'm just going to
1:31
gently toss this all together you want
1:33
all of the blueberries to have a nice
1:35
light coating of the lemon juice and the
1:37
zest and the tapioca flour and just as a
1:40
side note if you know that you like your
1:42
crisps extra sweet you could also add
1:45
somewhere between 2 to four tablespoons
1:47
of maple syrup or honey here but
1:50
personally I really like to let the
1:51
natural mild sweetness of the
1:53
blueberries shine through just the way
1:55
they are now to make the crisp topping
1:58
I've got a nice big bowl and I'm going
2:00
to start with 3/4 of a cup of Bob's Redm
2:02
Mill oldfashioned rolled oats which are
2:05
naturally gluten-free then I've got
2:07
another 3/4 of a cup of Bob's superfined
2:11
almond flour which is rich in healthy
2:13
fats protein and fiber it's also
2:16
naturally gluten-free and it's low carb
2:18
so again great for different dietary
2:20
needs and it's got this really mild
2:22
sweet nutty flavor that works perfect
2:24
with the crisp then I have a half a cup
2:26
of roasted unsalted almonds and I like
2:29
to give these a nice rough chop not too
2:31
fine because it adds a great texture to
2:34
the crisp topping then I have a third of
2:36
a cup maple syrup 1/4 cup of coconut oil
2:40
you could put it in there melted or at
2:42
room temperature either will work
2:43
perfectly fine a teaspoon of cinnamon
2:46
and a half a teaspoon of kosher salt
2:49
those are the ingredients for the
2:51
toppings so now you just want to mix
2:53
those together you can use a spatula or
2:55
your hands once you've got everything
2:57
well incorporated you're going to see
2:58
when you pinch it it sticks together
3:00
that is the texture the consistency that
3:03
you're looking for then from here I'm
3:05
just going to spread the crisp topping
3:07
over the top of the blueberries so just
3:09
do your best to do this as evenly as
3:12
possible and once you've got it done
3:14
it's ready to go now if you wanted to
3:16
make your crisp ahead of time you could
3:17
do everything up to here put a cover on
3:20
this and leave it in the fridge for up
3:21
to 24 hours then when you're ready to
3:24
bake it just take it out of the fridge
3:25
let it sit on the counter till it
3:27
reaches room temperature and then we'll
3:29
pop it into a 350°ree oven anywhere
3:32
between 50 minutes and 1 hour now you're
3:35
going to know that the crisp is done
3:36
because the top is going to be a
3:38
beautiful golden brown and the
3:40
blueberries are going to be hot and
3:41
bubbly and remember whenever you are
3:43
baking anything a great indicator that
3:46
it's just about ready to come out of the
3:48
oven is when the kitchen becomes very
3:50
fragrant that's a general rule of thumb
3:52
no matter what you were baking when the
3:54
kitchen starts to smell delicious
3:56
whatever's in the oven is just about
3:57
done this is exactly what I'm looking
3:59
for so I'm just going to let it cool
4:01
down until I can scoop it out and serve
4:03
it up the great news about crisps is
4:06
unlike most baked goods you do not have
4:08
to let them cool completely to eat them
4:10
they're actually delicious while they're
4:12
still warm and if you really want to
4:14
take it to the next level try serving it
4:16
with a nice big scoop of vanilla ice
4:18
cream over the top and of course if you
4:20
want to keep this vegan make sure you're
4:21
looking for a coconut ice cream or a
4:23
soybased ice cream that is 100% dairyf
4:25
free
4:28
you have that bright fresh flavor from
4:30
the blueberries with the sweet crunchy
4:32
nutty crisp over the top this is truly
4:35
one of my favorite desserts it just
4:37
screams summer and keep in mind that you
4:39
could make this with any type of fruit
4:41
you had on hand so as always enjoy this
4:44
recipe and make it work for you thank
4:46
you once again to Bob's Redm Mill for
4:48
partnering with me on this video if you
4:50
guys want to check them out which I
4:51
highly recommend you do remember that I
4:53
have a link for you down below in the
4:55
description box thanks so much for
4:57

4:58
you back here next time with some more
5:00
clean and deliciousness cheers hello my
5:04
friends it's Danny and today I'm showing
5:06
you how not to eat your hair then right
5:09
over the top I sprinkle two tablespoons
5:11
of tapioca flour which is a
5:15
which is a
5:17
too many words damy's speed style so I'm
5:20
using this in place of a corn starch but
5:23
if What are you looking for because I'm
5:24
talking way too much right now my
5:26
husband's going to kill me right now
