have eat enough power we're getting on
0:17
to the
0:25
freeway we don't really get to hear the
0:27
engine enough because once you hear it
0:29
for a few seconds seconds are already
0:30
going at over highway
0:36
speed stopping is also very good as
0:40
you'd expect got massive bro
0:46
brakes but when you're going around town
0:50
say that you're in traffic ordinary
0:52
traffic and you're carrying your
0:53
grandparents in the back seat and your
0:55
boss in the passenger seat and you just
0:57
want to make it look as though you're
0:59
normal respectable person who knows how
1:01
to drive
1:03
cautiously that's very
1:05
easy because the throttle has a
1:09
nice wide
1:12
band the engine will be nice and quiet
1:15
as you go around
1:18
town very easy to be gentle
1:33
you can really feel it when you let off
1:35
the when you let off the
1:36
gas really feel it when you
1:40
stutter after a while the great big
1:42
Surfboard on the hood doesn't look very
1:44
distracting
1:46
anymore although the cornering is
1:48
actually very good it's not as hard as
1:50
you might think to get tire squeal
1:52
because the tires are only inflated to
1:54
32
1:56
lb even though the tires themselves are
1:58
red for about 52b
2:00
sound you feel the road surface but you
2:03
don't get punished by
2:05
it go
2:14
okay this is a 2008 Dodge Charger SRT8
2:17
with 425 horsepower it really does speak
2:20
for itself listen
2:30
if you drive gently and carefully then
2:33
you can get the full EPA rated 13 m per
2:36
gallon in the
2:38
city you might even be able to achieve
2:41
18 m per gallon on the
2:44
highway then if you want a gas mileage
2:46
you've got in the Charger RT which shuts
2:49
off pass the cylinders when they're not
2:51
needed for nice good Cas mile now
3:02
and we're not going to get it because we
3:03
just don't have enough
3:05
space right here we go

oh took a second there a spa there m
3:41
yeah it's good spine uh good spine
3:44
exercise I said it took a second to
3:46
respond oh yeah it has to bump down here
3:49
and this is a very slow transmission
3:50
that's what I wanted to remember the SRP
3:53
might be all bad performance but since
3:55
it's sibling the charger is usable as a
3:58
family sedan the Charger SRT also has a
4:01
whopping great big trunk it's also got
4:04
very easy to read controls day or
4:07
[Music]
4:17
night if we take a closer look we can
4:19
see the trip computer and this comes out
4:22
of work that chore did all the way back
4:24
in the 70s which debuted in the Horizon
4:28
including the compass and the
4:29
temperature gauge as well as gas mileage
4:32
and other such features starting with
4:35
the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee we were
4:37
also able to set our car's preferences
4:40
and starting with the srts recently we
4:43
got a series of very welcome performance
4:45
indicators that personally I've been
4:48
waiting to get built into a car for a
4:49
long time you also get rather precise
4:53
readings on temperature and oil pressure
4:56
this
4:57
way we're just going through all the
4:59
preferences now inside the interior is a
5:03
little on the spart ins side but it's
5:04
clearly been dialed up since the
5:06
original charger came there's more
5:08
bright work and it really does look a
5:10
lot more upscale than it used to here's
5:13
the slow acting transmission shifter
5:16
note the Gated
5:17
pattern twice to put your
5:20
sunglasses now on the transmission the
5:23
auto stick is only de deactivated by
5:26
shoving it all the way to the right for
5:27
3 or 4 seconds which is a little
5:29
annoying
5:30
but on the other hand it's easier to
5:31
activate the first
5:33
time note the red stitching that's
5:35
unique to SRT and here's the rear seat
5:38
video just what you need when you're
5:40
running down your 13 or 14 second
5:42
quarter miles is for your kids to be in
5:45
the back seat watching TV or listening
5:46
to the
5:48
radio look my no driver
