my name is Dave and I'm here to show you
0:32
some of the features of the new Dodge
0:34
Dakota first of all let's lift up the
0:36
seat inside you will find this terribly
0:39
clever little Arrangement and watch
0:44
unfold and it turns to a little milk
0:47
trate and you can't just get these at
0:49
your local Dairy like you used to when
0:51
you were in college maybe or they passed
0:53
all those
0:56
laws but you can get them at the Dodge
0:58
dealer so that you can have them prilled
1:00
with all your stuff one for fishing
1:03
tackle one for
1:05
tools a little harder to get back in and
1:07
they are to get
1:09
out but you can do
1:12
it and then you just unfold
1:17
it probably a little more gracefully as
1:19
you get some practice and there you go
1:22
nice under seat
1:23
storage and the seat is
1:28
still pretty comfortable
1:30
although you have to take off your hat
1:32
if you're going to lean over this way
1:35
you look over this way you got plenty of
1:37
head see your gas mileage and
1:40
such press on reset and it's goes back
1:44
to
1:45
zero can also um get it in metric so we
1:49
know that we can go 100 km with 18.4 L
1:53
of fuel and if you step through you see
1:56
that there's distance to
1:58
empty yeah a odometer reading that's
2:01
basically another trip odometer
2:03
estimated time since the last time I
2:05
pressed
2:06
reset and we can just shut off the
2:08
display completely or we can put
2:11
on the compass heading and the
2:14
temperature outside this is for cups
2:17
that have a
2:18
handle this is for your
2:21
coins other stuff and these little cup
2:24
holders also come
2:28
out and you can either wash them or use
2:32
the space underneath as a great big open
2:35
console and if that
2:37
fails you still
2:40
have your little telephone slot over
2:42
here for your cell phone or you can
2:44
shove an iPod into it and have a wire
2:46
running off to the
2:48
radio which is a little ungainly console
2:52
is down
2:54
here with its little CD carrier in the
2:56
bottom and its own little power outlet
3:00
it's got a rather nice dashboard here
3:04
fairly plain but still somewhat sporty
3:06
and extremely easy to
3:10
read starts right up with that nice
3:13
modern engine
3:14
sound and revs very
3:18
quickly now what about this U connect
3:20
you've heard so much about let's take a
3:22
quick look
3:24
connect so we operate to you connect he
3:27
making a call available options are call
3:30
dial phone book redial emergency Towing
3:35
Assistance or you connect
3:38
setup call sorry the phone is not
3:43
available one of the nice things about
3:44
trucks is that they tend to be a little
3:46
bit more generous than cars with the sun
3:48
visors in this
3:51
case they pull out and go back in again
3:54
along the slot which gives you a lot of
3:55
extra
3:57
space now the ride of the Dakota
4:00
is actually surprisingly nice if you're
4:02
on a gentle road but on a concrete road
4:04
like this it gets very stiff and busy
4:07
it's still cushioned pretty well but you
4:11
really do feel the bumps and you feel
4:12
the road surface as you go
4:15
along when you have a nasty B hole then
4:18
it comes through all the
4:21
way but a nice smooth Road it gives you
4:24
a nice smooth
4:25
ride and the really good sound
4:28
insulation
4:34
helps the engine has an awful lot of
4:39
punch but it's
4:41
quiet gas mileage on the other hand
4:43
isn't that far away from an
4:46
SRT8 part of that the
4:49
aerodynamics and part of that is the
4:52
fact that you don't have the multiple
4:53
displacement system on this engine it's
4:55
a 4.7 L V8 it's a flex fuel engine
4:58
straight from the fact
5:00
so if you ever find 85 you can actually
5:03
put it in and bur and we're going to
5:04
merge onto the highway
5:16
now very easy to
5:21
drive and it always has
5:24
punch so you hit the gas and you
5:28
move
5:32
punch means that when you punch the gas
5:35
it responds pretty quickly cornering is
5:38
really surprisingly
5:45
good so we with none of the body roll as
5:47
you see on that Explorer in front of
5:58
us
