This is what I'd put in my smart home of the future

So let's pretend that I have infinite amounts of money and I want to build the smart home of my

dreams. Well, I have come to IFA in Berlin, which is full of the latest, greatest smart home items

So we're going to take a look at everything from robot lawnmowers to robot arms to the best

possible ways to purify the air in your home and keep your food nice and cold. I'm going to pick

out my favorite picks to fill my dream fictional smart home. Let's go. And of course, no smart home

setup would be complete without a really good TV for the entertainment on your evenings. Now

at IFA, there are a lot of TVs to choose from, but probably one of my favorites is this big one

from LG right behind me. Now, there are two things about this that I particularly like. One

it's absolutely massive, which is great for your games or your movies. And two, it's really

really thin. So when you put it on your wall, you can barely even tell that it's there

It fits in seamlessly with your surroundings. And that's just lovely. Now, right now, my couch doesn't light up

But if I have these strip lights, then suddenly it would. And I'd feel a lot cooler

These aren't the only smart lights that Govee makes. They've got various other bulbs and all kinds of hues

So if I wanted to make my home suddenly technicolor, well, there's a lot of options for how to do that

And of course, of course, I would have a smart home brewing setup

That feels really good. So I'm probably gonna hang around here for a little while

You can go off and keep filming somewhere else. You can do a whole range of beers

Amber Lager Irish Stout Pilsner Hell Hefeweizen and something that I first read as Sea Salt Goose Don know what this is but I probably have it And then we have Xiaomi And to be quite honest this whole video could just be about Xiaomi

because there basically isn't a home tech product that this company doesn't make

One of the things that particularly caught my eye is actually the company's new fridge

Now, I'll be quite honest in that generally I've been a bit let down by the concept of a smart fridge

particularly the ones that have been internet connected. I don't really see the point in having a camera and stuff in my fridge and an internet database on the front of it

But this technology actually makes sense because if you can keep your food fresh for longer

it basically helps fight food waste. And we can all agree that is a good thing. One of the cool demos I did see, though, is actually them using that technology to keep a bottle of water

at actually below freezing temperature, around minus two degrees. But it's so specific in how it does its cooling that it didn't actually freeze solid

It was only when I took the bottle of water out of the fridge and shook it up that it then actually turned to ice

I'll be honest, I didn't even know how that is physically possible. And yet, apparently, it can be done

And therefore, this is the fridge that I want in my kitchen. Because just imagine how cold you can get your beer and still have it drinkable

Oh, yeah. So one of the benefits of the fact that Xiaomi makes basically everything is that all those products can actually talk to each other, which is really cool

So, for example, here, if I was coming into bed and I want to sit down with a book

and have some quiet time and enjoy a good story, I can sit down on the bed

and the AI cameras in the bedroom will recognize that I'm sitting here

and I'm just wanting to chill a little bit. And so it will automatically do things

like turn on the nightlight It will adjust the bed so the bed lifts up so that if I want to lay back and be a bit more comfortable than I can be It will turn on the AC unit so that I nice and cool

and it will draw the curtains so I have some privacy and I don't have to do a thing except

sit down and open my book. Of course the system relies on having AI cameras in your bedroom

watching your every movement. Do I want my bedroom full of AI cameras watching me

No. Now I don't have my own pool because I earn a journalist salary but if I did I would probably

have Roborocks pool cleaning robot. It's in here somewhere and basically think about it as a Roomba

but it goes underwater. The fun thing is is that this is kind of like being at the zoo and waiting

for the penguins to come up. It's squeaking. Yes. So the idea is that it will basically move around

the pool floor and then up the sides cleaning off all the gunk blood and urine that you may well have

got in your pool i don't have a pool and i don't have a garden so i'm feeling pretty bad about

myself right now but again if i had a garden then this is probably the automated robot mower to get

because it has an arm on top which i thought was for picking up objects that might be lying around

in your garden like a hose pipe or something but apparently it's better served as a synchronized

to dance with fans set to electro metal. Okay, so bumper cars might not be exactly home tech

but I want these in my home. Take this child! Ow, my spine, my old man's spine

Do you think our company insurance covers me for this? Sometimes like right now I cannot be bothered to pick up my own coffee So that when I need this robot arm which can do all kinds of things for me

It says, do not touch the robot arm. I think a better warning would be

do not try to fight the robot arm. That's great, but I'm over here

And how about a cat litter tray that automatically takes out that nasty stuff that's been hanging in there probably a little bit too long

Well, this thing basically has a rotating mechanism with an arm that scoops out all of the nasty stuff

deposits it nicely out of the way, leaving things much more clean and fresh

Now, as a cat owner myself with a beautiful boy called Toulouse, this is definitely one that I would want

Okay, strictly speaking, this is not within the smart home, but I think it's fair game, so bear with me

smart bird feeders that have cameras built in to identify which lovely little bird is coming to

your garden and eating your seed. How adorable. And of course, no smart home system would be

complete without having some kind of off-grid backup power solution. And the EcoFlow Stream

5000 is a good choice for me because it is small, it will fit in my house, and I can plug in the

solar panels and add more batteries as I want to grow that system to store even more power so I can

lasts for days and days in a power cut. So those are all my favorite picks that I would love to

fill my home with. Of course, I would need a hell of a lot more money than I actually do
