important people in the Communist Party her mother Amalia worked in a
1:53

2:02
life they lived in a modest apartment but their home was warm and full of

World melania's parents valued education and hard work she did well in school and became

shaped melania's character it taught her to work hard stay creative and never give up her
4:19
dreams born in this little town would take her far beyond its Green
4:25
Hills melania's journey into modeling began when she was 16 years

toward her this experience showed her that the modeling world could be difficult

even so Melania remained determined to succeed as her career progressed she
5:37
started using the name Melania naous for her work Melania began traveling across

way Paulo zali asked her to move to the United States he believed she could succeed as
8:05
a model in New York City and promised to help her at 26 years old Melania was
8:12
older than most new models still she decided to take the
8:18
chance moving to New York was exciting but it was also
8:24
scary the city was so different from her small hometown of snica
8:30
zali helped Melania find a place to live she shared an apartment with
8:36
photographer Matthew atanian in zindorf towers near Union
8:41
Square her rent came directly from the money she earned from zal's
8:48
agency living in New York helped her meet people in the fashion
8:53
world but Melania didn't live the same way as many other
8:58
models she she stayed focused on her health she ate carefully and avoided
9:04
drinking alcohol while other models partied Melania spent most of her time at
9:12
home at first Melania couldn't work legally in the US because of her travel
9:19
visa this made things hard for her even so she took 10 modeling jobs
9:26
and earned about $20,000 later she received an H1B Visa which
9:34
allowed her to work legally her first big break came when she posed for an ad for Camel
9:42
cigarettes the ad was photographed by Ellen vaugh unworth and became a giant

9:59
models over 25 years old after her roommate moved out Melania
10:05
found a new apartment near Park Avenue she missed her family and her
10:11
home in Slovenia but she only visited a few times and for short

a model on a Time Square billboard her determination and helped her build a new
10:30
life in America in September 1998 Melania met Donald Trump at a party
10:38
in Manhattan her agent Paulo zali introduced them Donald was a famous
10:46
businessman and attended the event with a date Selena midelfart even so he noticed Melania as
10:54
soon as he saw her he walked over and started a
11:00
conversation Donald asked for her phone number but Melania
11:05
refused instead she told him to give her his number later she explained that giving
11:13
her number would have made her just one of the women he calls Donald impressed her by giving
11:19
multiple personal numbers not just an office number a week later Melania called
11:27
Donald they went on on their first date she didn't try hard to impress
11:34
him instead she acted calm and confident this only made Donald more
11:41
interested in her as they spent time together they discovered they had a lot in
11:47
common Donald's confidence and personality reminded Melania of her
11:53
Father Victor they were also similar in age and appearance which helped her feel at ease
12:00
with him their relationship grew quickly but it wasn't always
12:06
easy at one point Melania ended the relationship after she saw Donald's
12:12
ex-girlfriend Cara young leaving Trump Tower however they reunited a week later
12:20
and decided to move forward together as their relationship grew
12:25
Donald's Fame opened new doors for Melania she continued modeling but took fewer
12:32
jobs to spend more time with him by 1999 she was featured in several major
12:41
magazines Donald often brought her to events and proudly introduced her to
12:47
others in April 2004 Donald proposed to Melania on her
12:53
birthday they were leaving for the Met Gala when he asked her to marry him

14:54
passive relationship because he worked hard and didn't want to work at a relationship at
15:00
home Melania agreed and said this Arrangement suited them
15:05
both as Donald's wife Melania became stepmother to his four
15:11
children Donald Jr Eric and Ivanka were from his first
15:17
marriage Tiffany was from his second marriage and was only 6 years old when Melania started dating

Donald Melania made sure Tiffany felt included in the family she grew close to her
15:32
stepchildren and wanted them to feel like a complete family in 2006 Melania became pregnant
15:40
with her son the media gave her a lot of attention during this
15:46
time she appeared on the cover of Vogue wearing a bikini and an open coat that
15:52
showed her baby bump melania's parents and sister iness

hospital on March 20th 2006 Melania gave
16:21
birth to her son Baron William Trump she chose his middle name and
16:28
Donald chose was his first name from the beginning Melania took
16:33
charge of raising Baron she decided not to hire nannies
16:39
except for a few times when he was very young Melania later said she didn't want
16:45
Donald to be too involved I didn't want him changing diapers or putting Baron to bed she
16:53
explained Melania spent most of her time caring for Baron as he grew
17:00
she rarely went to public events and preferred to stay home to ensure her son had a stable
17:06
life even though Donald's social life kept him busy Melania focused on being a
17:13
mother she would only attend events briefly before returning home to her
17:19
family in July 2006 Melania became a US
17:25
citizen later she helped her parents move to the United
17:30
States both Melania and baron kept their Slovenian citizenship to stay connected
17:36
to her Roots during these years melania's life centered around her family especially
17:44
Baron her quiet devotion as a mother defined this chapter of her
17:50
life Melania played an important but quiet role during her husband Donald
17:55
Trump's presidential campaign While most candidate spouses are very
18:01
active during campaigns Melania chose to help in her own way she wanted to support Donald but she
18:10
also wanted to focus on her family and stay true to herself Melania was the one who finally
18:17
convinced Donald to run for president she told him to either do it
18:22
or stop talking about it when the campaign started she made it clear that
18:28
she would not attend events unless she wanted to she focused on raising their son
18:35
Baron and keeping life as normal as possible for him even though she did not join many
18:42
events melania's life changed during the campaign she needed to follow strict
18:49
security rules and could not share updates on social media like
18:54
before she had always enjoyed using Instagram and Twitter but she became
18:59
less active online as the campaign went on at home Melania supported Donal in
19:07
her own way she believed he could win even when others doubted him she encouraged him to
19:15
follow his instincts but told him she did not like it when he used bad
19:20
language after each rally she would call him to share her honest thoughts about
19:26
his performance her her advice helped him prepare for the next
19:31
event Melania rarely appeared in public during the campaign but when she did it
19:38
was important she gave speeches in states where Donald needed extra
19:44
support in her speeches she talked about Donald's personal qualities like his
19:50
love for family and his hard work she also shared her own story of
19:56
coming to America and achieving her dreams this helped people see her as an
20:02
example of the American dream milania's role during the campaign
20:08
was quiet but important she focused on her family while supporting Donald in her own
20:16
way her actions showed her strength kindness and
20:22
determination even Under Pressure she stayed true to herself when Donald Trump became
20:29
president in January 2017 melania's life changed
20:35
forever she became the first lady of the United States however instead of moving to the
20:42
White House right away milania stayed in New York City she wanted to give their son Baron
20:50
time to finish his school year Melania also wanted to help him
20:55
adjust slowly to their new life it wasn't easy for her to stay behind
21:02
but she always put Baron first she wanted to protect him and make
21:07
the big change as smooth as possible Melania was a special and
21:12
unique first lady she was only the second first lady in US history to be born in another
21:21
country the first was Louisa Adams who came from England Melania was also the first first
21:29
lady to become a US citizen through naturalization she often said she could
21:35
speak many languages including English slovene Italian French and

German but in public she mostly spoke English and
21:48
slovene Melania was also the second Catholic first lady after Jacqueline

Kennedy in June 2017 Milan and baron moved into the
22:00
White House she worked hard to make it a warm and special home for her
22:06
family Melania spent most of her time in the private family quarters focusing on
22:12
decorating and creating a comfortable space for Baron she also updated many rooms and
22:19
replaced some of the decor from previous years the trumps paid for these changes
22:26
themselves because Melania wanted the White House to feel personal and
22:31
welcoming Melania kept her staff small and close she did not want many people
22:38
speaking for her people saw her as calm kind and
22:43
respectful to everyone she worked with unlike other first ladies Melania
22:50
did not appear in public often she spoke only when she felt it
22:55
was important most of the time she shared her ideas through video
23:02
messages her quiet strength and focus made her unique and
23:07
admired in 2018 Melania started her the best
