0:02
good morning and welcome to midweek
0:03
insights with Pastor John I'm Pastor
0:06
John Moore from popular Assembly of God
0:07
and I want to welcome you if you're
0:10
joining us by YouTube for the first time
0:12
make sure you go down below the screen
0:14
and hit like and uh follow us so today I
0:19
want to talk about something that's very
0:22
important to all Christians to
0:24
understand and that's what Redemption is
0:28
so we're going to take a look starting
0:31
in Galatians chapter 3 starting in verse
0:35
13 it says Christ hath redeemed us from
0:38
the curse of the law being made a curse
0:40
for us for it is written cursed is
0:43
everyone that hangeth on a tree that The
0:46
Blessing of Abraham might come on the
0:48
Gentiles through Jesus Christ that we
0:50
might receive the promise of the spirit
0:52
through faith Brethren I speak after the
0:55
manner of men though it be but a man's
0:58
Covenant yet if it be conf firm no man's
1:01
diseth or adth thereto now to Abraham
1:04
and his seed were the promises made he
1:07
saith and not to seeds as of many but as
1:10
of one and to thy seed which is Christ
1:14
and this I say that the Covenant that
1:16
was confirmed before of God in Christ
1:19
the law which was 430 years after cannot
1:23
disol that it should make the promise of
1:25
none effect for if the inheritance be of
1:29
the law it is is no more of promise but
1:31
God gave it to Abraham by
1:34
promise and to truly understand redeemed
1:39
and what it means to be
1:41
redeemed um the best example I've heard
1:45
of
1:46
that
1:48
is um in in the Roman
1:52
times they had a slave market in Rome
1:55
and slaves were people that were
1:57
captured by Roman Conquest and they were
2:00
brought back and they were sold and the
2:04
curse of being a slave was your life had
2:08
no value if your owner decided to kill
2:13
you your life was over but in the slave
2:17
market they
2:18
had when they would bring in the slaves
2:21
to sell
2:22
them and the Romans would purchase
2:25
slaves they had three different levels
2:28
of purchase that Roman uh citizen could
2:31
do the first one is kind of like playing
2:35
the stock market they could buy the
2:40
person and then leave them in the market
2:43
and if their value went up by the end of
2:45
the day they'd resell them so they never
2:48
actually took possession of the slaves
2:49
they were just like stocks or Bonds on
2:52
the stock market it was just a way to
2:54
make
2:55
money the second uh form of
3:00
purchase in the slave market was that
3:04
they would purchase them and then take
3:07
them to their
3:08
house
3:10
and they would give them a room to live
3:13
in clothes to wear and give them duties
3:17
to perform as a slave as their
3:21
property and then the third
3:24
one they would purchase them out at the
3:27
slave market they would take them to
3:28
their house and give them uh a room
3:32
clothes duties to
3:34
perform but they would
3:36
also after time give them their freedom
3:42
and citizenship as a Roman and this is
3:45
the kind of redemption that we have in
3:49
Christ he came because you'll notice
3:52
here it says U verse 13 13 it says
3:56
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of
3:58
the law being made a curse for us for it
4:02
is written cursed is everyone that
4:04
hangeth on a
4:05
tree so he came in and he paid the
4:09
Redemption price in other words there
4:12
was a cost that had to be pray paid to
4:16
Deliver Us From The Curse of the
4:20
law and the curse of sin and so by going
4:25
to the Cross being crucified his blood
4:28
being shed he paid the red Redemption
4:30
price and it's that Redemption price
4:33
which is that he paid which provides for
4:38
us a means for our
4:40
salvation and also for us to have
4:44
fellowship with God because we've been
4:46
redeemed from the curse in other words
4:49
we're no longer slaves to sin because of
4:52
Christ's actions on the cross and
4:55
because of those actions on the
4:58
cross we have
5:00
citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven
5:03
provided by the Redemption price paid by
5:09
Christ none of us have done anything to
5:12
give ourselves or or can do anything to
5:16
give access to God it had to come from
5:19
God and all the way back to the Garden
5:22
of Eden when Adam and Eve fell the very
5:25
first thing that happened was they tried
5:28
to cover their own sins by sewing fig
5:30
leaves together to make clothes to hide
5:34
their
5:34
nakedness God looked at it and he made
5:39
clothing for them out of animal skins
5:42
which meant something's blood had to be
5:44
shed to create
5:47
clothes same thing happens in our
5:49
relationship with God um the law through
5:54
animal
5:55
sacrifices was like the Fig Lea aprons
5:59
that ad and Eve made it only covered the
6:01
sin it didn't get rid of the sin but
6:05
Christ's blood being shed washed away
6:08
the sins there's a old hymn that people
6:12
and they still sing it's a great song
6:14
it's I Am Redeemed by the blood of the
6:17
land and that means there was a purchase
6:20
price paid and that purchase price was
6:25
Jesus the blood of Jesus and it was shed
6:28
on the cross and it was shed one
6:30
time for all Sin from the very beginning
6:34
back to the Garden of Eden all the way
6:36
to the very last Soul whoever takes a
6:38
breath as a sinner that it was only
6:42
required one sacrifice and that was the
6:44
one that Jesus made so as you begin to
6:48
look at your life and your relationship
6:51
with
6:52
God it's very important to understand
6:55
what Redemption is and what Jesus
6:58
actually did on the
7:00
cross um to put it in more modern
7:03
language if you uh are taken to
7:07
court um and you're having a criminal
7:11
trial you can be found guilty you can be
7:14
found not
7:17
guilty or you can enter in a plea of no
7:22
contest uh also known as an Albert plea
7:26
which basically says that there's enough
7:28
evidence there that I could be convicted
7:32
of this crime whether I accept that
7:34
crime or plead guilty to that crime or
7:37
not when we confess our sins it says
7:41
he's faithful and just to forgive us our
7:44
sins and to cleanse us from all
7:46
unrighteousness that's 1 John
7:49
1:9 and we have to understand that that
7:52
when we're standing before
7:54
God and we're being
7:57
accused uh by the ad AR and it says he
8:01
he accuses the Brethren day and night uh
8:05
Jesus's
8:07
response is they are mine I have
8:09
redeemed them and that releases us from
8:13
the Judgment of of the law we are no
8:16
longer bound by it we're set free from
8:19
it and that came through the Redemption
8:22
price that Jesus
8:23
Paid so when we come to God we're no
8:28
longer looked upon as as an
8:30
alien and and when I say alien I mean a
8:34
non-citizen of Heaven we're looked
8:37
upon as not only citizens of heaven but
8:42
the book of Colossians says that we were
8:44
adopted and that we've been translated
8:47
into the kingdom of his dear son and
8:49
that gives us the ability to come before
8:52
God and call him
8:54
father so to truly understand that when
8:58
you are redeemed in that
9:00
way in the Jewish Society if you were
9:04
adopted into a family at that point uh
9:09
that adoption rights gave you all the
9:11
rights of a bloodborne son uh there was
9:15
no difference between you and someone
9:17
that was born by natural birth into that
9:20
family even though you were adopted in
9:23
so when you come before God and uh
9:27
Hebrews 4:16 says has come boldly before
9:30
the throne of grace in your time in need
9:33
that you may obtain
9:34
mercy and if you understand Court life
9:38
and I'm not talking about our court
9:40
system I'm talking about the system of
9:44
having a king if you understand the
9:46
king's court you could not come be if
9:49
you were not an heir you could not come
9:52
before God without an
9:55
invitation and an announcement and what
9:58
that means is when you came in to see
10:02
the
10:04
king uh you had to have someone go
10:07
before you and announce you to the king
10:10
that you were there to see him and you
10:12
had to wait until the king gave you
10:14
permission to enter into his throne
10:19
room and then you had to speak to him
10:22
through a page and that you couldn't
10:25
directly address
10:26
him the only person that could was an
10:29
heir to the throne and the heir to the
10:32
throne didn't need permission to come
10:34
into the throne room he didn't need
10:36
permission to directly address the king
10:39
who was sitting on the throne because he
10:41
was the heir he was next in line to be
10:44
king So through Jesus's Act of
10:48
redemption we now have the ability to
10:51
walk into God's throne room without fear
10:56
or
10:57
shame and directly
11:00
address the
11:02
king for our needs and we're able to
11:06
obtain Mercy because when he looks at us
11:09
he sees the blood of Christ and
11:12
therefore we are his
11:14
children
11:16
so as you're going through your life
11:20
never let the enemy convince you that
11:24
God doesn't care about you to the point
11:26
that you're unable to uh
11:30
approach God directly because it is by
11:34
Christ that we have the authority to
11:36
come before God he redeemed us we're no
11:40
longer slaves to sin we're no longer
11:43
outcasts we're actually erors and joint
11:46
erors with Christ in the kingdom and
11:48
therefore we have direct access to God
11:51
so always remember you have direct
11:54
access to God you can appeal to him at
11:57
any time for any need you have and it's
12:01
important for us to realize that that's
12:04
exactly what God has always wanted if
12:07
you go back into the Book of Genesis and
12:10
you read about Adam's relationship with
12:13
God before the fall it says that God
12:16
came down and walked with Adam in the
12:18
cool of the
12:20
garden So Adam had Direct access to God
12:24
sin in the garden separated us from God
12:27
and Christ came and redeemed us from
12:30
that curse so that we once again would
12:32
have that exact Fellowship that Adam had
12:36
prior to Adam's sin so go through your
12:41
dayto day change your attitude Romans
12:46
12:2 it says be not conformed to this
12:49
world but be ye transformed by the
12:51
renewing of your mind change your
12:55
attitude about who you are in God
12:59
begin
13:01
to claim who you are I am a Son of God I
13:05
am the redeemed I am not a slave to sin
13:08
anymore I have direct access to God and
13:12
he will meet all my needs according to
13:14
his riches and Glory know who you are
13:18
it's important know that yes we need to
13:21
come before God in in in a state of
13:25
humility because and recognizing what
13:28
God has done for us but at the same time
13:31
we need to have boldness to let God know
13:35
we know what he's done for us we know
13:39
who we are in Christ and because of
13:41
knowing that we have direct access to
13:44
God the father and begin to look at
13:48
yourself that way not in a prideful
13:51
arrogant way but in a humble hum a
13:54
humble way with humility understanding
13:57
that the only reason you can do that is
13:59
because of what Christ did on the cross
14:02
I guarantee you it will begin to change
14:04
the way you think about yourself it will
14:06
change the way you approach the world
14:08
it'll change the way you approach life
14:11
because you're no longer looking at it
14:14
as I'm not get enough I'm not this I'm
14:16
not that which is true it says our
14:18
righteousness is as filthy rags before
14:21
God but it's not your righteousness that
14:24
you're walking in you're walking in
14:26
Jesus's righteousness because he has has
14:29
redeemed you so you have
14:32
value you have citizenship you have
14:35
rights before God Jes God even said put
14:39
me in remembrance of my word learn to
14:42
understand what the Bible says so that
14:43
when you have these things and you're
14:46
facing difficulties you can share with
14:49
God from your heart you know God your
14:52
word says that you will do such and such
14:54
for me because I am your son and I'm
14:58
putting you in rem remance of your word
15:00
that you do not forget me or the love
15:02
that you have for me and that affirms to
15:05
God that you know who he is you know
15:08
what he can do and you know
15:10
how powerful he is in every situation in
15:15
your life so that's this week's midweek
15:17
insights I want you to think about that
15:19
I want you to begin to believe that you
15:21
are the redeemed and begin to understand
15:25
what that actually means because if
15:27
you're redeemed
15:29
you're a Son of
15:31
God thanks and we'll see you guys next
15:33
week
