Good morning. Welcome to Insights. This
0:03
is Pastor John. Today we're going to be
0:05
talking about the true church.
0:09
And uh it seems like an odd statement
0:11
that you would have to talk about the
0:13
true church, but I want to I want to
0:16
read something to you out of the book of
0:18
Ephesians. It's verse chapter
0:21
uh
0:23
in chapter 4. Paul starts this out. He
0:26
says, "I therefore, the prisoner of the
0:28
Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy
0:31
of the vocation wherewith you are called
0:33
with all loneliness and meekness, with
0:36
longsuffering, forbearing one another in
0:38
love, endeavoring to keep the unity of
0:41
the spirit in the bond of peace. There
0:43
is one body and one spirit even as you
0:46
are called in one hope of your calling.
0:50
One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one
0:53
God and father of all who is above all
0:55
and through all and in you all.
0:59
And as I was reading that and praying
1:01
about it, I was taking a look at
1:03
different things that the Lord had
1:06
uh through the different writers had
1:09
shared. And one of the things that
1:12
became so
1:14
apparent to me was this.
1:20
We're all one body
1:22
and uh there are
1:27
a tremendous number of denominations
1:29
out there. You have different religious
1:32
beliefs.
1:33
Um
1:35
but at the end of the day,
1:38
irregardless of of what
1:42
um
1:43
teachings you follow,
1:46
the teachings that Paul gave us in the
1:48
Bible are sound doctrine. And when he
1:54
states that there is one Lord, one
1:56
faith, one baptism, one God and father
1:59
of all who is above all and through all
2:01
and in you all. He's telling us that the
2:06
church is not a building. The church is
2:09
not a religious group. The church is a
2:13
group that is based on faith in one
2:15
thing, the Lord Jesus Christ. Without
2:18
Jesus being the very center of all you
2:21
do, without him being the foundation
2:23
that you build on, your faith is in
2:25
vain.
2:26
And you have to go back to to what God's
2:30
word says every time. I want you to
2:33
listen to something. This is out of
2:34
James chapter 1.
2:37
And and it's something we need to
2:41
a as a body of believers to grab a hold
2:44
of because this is what he says. And
2:47
this is about religion
2:49
as opposed to a life of faith. He says
2:53
pure religion
2:55
and undefiled before God and the father
2:58
is this
3:00
to visit the fatherless and widows in
3:03
their affliction and to keep himself
3:06
unspotted from the world. You know, I've
3:10
made this statement many times. If
3:12
someone looks at you and you claim to be
3:14
a Christian and they can't tell the
3:15
difference between you and what the
3:18
world does, you need to check yourself.
3:21
Your religion is vain because you're not
3:24
you haven't done what he said to do,
3:27
which is to come out from among them to
3:30
separate yourself from the world and to
3:33
live a life that is holy and pleasing
3:35
before God.
3:38
And that life that being holy what
3:41
holiness is is being set aside for
3:44
service. That is what holiness is. You
3:47
are God has called you out from among
3:50
the world and set you aside
3:53
for service to mankind to give them the
3:57
message that Jesus came to deliver which
4:01
was that John 3:16. That's Jesus's me
4:05
message that God so loved the world that
4:09
he sent his son Jesus Christ to die in
4:12
our place as propitiation for our sin
4:16
that we could enter into a relationship
4:18
with the father because no amount of
4:22
animal blood shed could
4:25
remove the sin. It could cover it for a
4:28
year but it couldn't remove the sin. It
4:30
took the God's own blood to cleanse sin.
4:34
And so when you're
4:38
when you're looking at everything that
4:40
God
4:42
has done,
4:44
it should be a humbling thing for us to
4:47
realize that God's love for us is
4:51
greater than even our love for our for
4:53
our own selves.
4:55
We would choose destruction
5:00
without a conscience,
5:03
without what Jesus came to did and
5:05
pointed out came to do and pointed out
5:07
to all of us that there is a better way.
5:09
He said, "I am the way, the truth, and
5:11
the life and no man comes unto the
5:13
father but by me." And without Jesus
5:18
as the center of our lives, we are lost.
5:23
Jesus said, "Narrow is the gate and
5:24
straightest the way that leadth unto
5:26
righteousness."
5:28
There is only one way, his way. And if
5:31
you have any doubts about whether your
5:32
religion, your your beliefs
5:37
are vain or not
5:41
is to ask yourself the question. Is this
5:45
what Jesus asked me to do? And you're
5:48
not going to know that question uh the
5:51
answer to that question without you
5:53
actually getting into his word and
5:55
opening it up and taking a look at it.
5:57
It's that important that we as believers
6:01
in Christ
6:03
uh have to follow the things that he
6:06
said and what he said to do. And if we
6:10
don't do that, then we put ourselves in
6:12
the position of we're not truly
6:14
following him. And so he gave us some
6:18
things. He says, "By this shall they
6:20
know that you are my disciple disciples,
6:22
that you have love one for another."
6:26
If you can't love someone who has
6:29
who's
6:32
different from you,
6:35
then you've lost the point.
6:38
We have to love one another.
6:41
We have to be those people that are
6:44
willing to take a stand and show the
6:46
world what God's love actually is. And
6:52
when we understand that that we're all
6:54
one body,
6:56
um, and and as I said already, the
7:00
church is not a building. The church is
7:03
not a denomination. The church is
7:07
believers. That's who the church is. And
7:11
and if you can't look past
7:15
all of these things, I I've I can I can
7:19
I cannot tell you the number of times uh
7:22
in my lifetime that I've heard people of
7:25
different denominational backgrounds
7:27
make a statement, make this statement,
7:29
which is if you don't belong to this
7:32
particular church or this particular
7:34
denomination,
7:35
um then you're not right. You're not
7:38
going to be saved. if you're not going
7:40
to heaven, so on and so forth. And none
7:42
of that is true.
7:45
There's only one thing that makes us
7:47
eligible to get into heaven, and that's
7:49
our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
7:52
Doesn't matter what else you believe. If
7:54
that's not the center focus of what you
7:57
believe, then your religion, your belief
8:00
system is in vain.
8:03
And if it's Jesus Christ and him
8:07
crucified,
8:08
for those of us that accept and believe
8:10
that, it means everything. And for those
8:13
that reject it, it means nothing. And um
8:17
in fact, the Bible says that to them
8:20
that aren't saved, the cross is
8:22
foolishness.
8:25
It's about Jesus. It's not about you and
8:28
me. It's about Jesus. And it's about
8:31
what we do with what he's given us. You
8:34
know, his his greatest
8:38
his greatest example of how to be a
8:40
Christian in its truest form
8:45
is when he knelt down and washed his own
8:47
disciples feet. The king of heaven, he
8:51
says, "I came not to be served but to
8:54
serve."
8:56
And then he washed the disciples feet.
8:58
And then he followed that by telling the
9:02
disciples to wash each other's feet. We
9:05
are in service to each other. We are we
9:09
have a responsibility to each other to
9:12
do what God has called us to do and to
9:15
do it in faith because without faith,
9:19
you can't please God. everything you do
9:21
in your in your beliefs and in your
9:24
worship of Christ and what you do, if
9:26
you're not doing it out of faith, if
9:28
you're doing it for any other reason,
9:31
it's vain.
9:33
All those things have to be acts of
9:36
faith. So, I want to leave that with you
9:39
this week. We got a lot going on in the
9:41
next few weeks. uh couple of weeks from
9:44
now I'm I'm going to be in Pakistan
9:48
um trying to reach people with the
9:50
message of Christ
9:52
uh encouraging them in their faith.
9:56
Um I don't know if we're going to be
9:58
able to to broadcast from Pakistan or
10:01
not. So, you might have a couple of
10:03
weeks where there's no midweek insight,
10:05
but don't give up hope because we're
10:08
going to have a lot to share because God
10:10
is on the move all over the world in
10:14
every area and we need to, you know,
10:17
lift each other up in prayer. I hope
10:20
you'll pray for me. I hope you pray for
10:22
success for the mission to Pakistan. And
10:25
most of all, I I hope you pray for each
10:27
other and that you walk in love above
10:30
all things. So, we'll see you guys next
10:33
week. And remember, it's all about him,
10:37
not about us.
