good morning and welcome to midweek
0:03
insights with Pastor John I'm Pastor
0:05
John Moore from popular Assembly of God
0:07
and
0:08
today I just want to share with you a
0:12
few thoughts about
0:14
Thanksgiving um the Bible tells us that
0:18
in everything give thanks for this is
0:19
the will of God in Christ Jesus
0:21
concerning you it's one of the most
0:24
powerful things there is that you can do
0:27
as a
0:28
Believer and so so with tomorrow being
0:32
Thanksgiving
0:34
Day and people have allowed themselves
0:38
to be divided over different things
0:42
tomorrow should be a day where you come
0:44
together with family and
0:46
friends and spend the time truly being
0:50
thankful if you can do that you can have
0:54
a great
0:56
Thanksgiving make sure that the things
0:59
that focus on tomorrow bring glory to
1:03
God make sure
1:07
that as you're enjoying Thanksgiving and
1:11
all of the activities and there's going
1:13
to be football games and Thanksgiving
1:15
Day parades and and then people coming
1:19
together to share a meal to remember how
1:23
this country was founded and that the
1:26
people that came here came here to seek
1:31
the freedom to worship
1:34
god without someone telling them
1:38
that uh only this
1:41
particular uh way of worshiping is
1:45
correct um that's why they came but what
1:49
I want you to do today uh today as
1:52
you're preparing and I know there's a
1:54
lot of moms and grandmas out there and
1:57
and aunts out there that are getting to
2:00
be baking and preparing foods and and
2:04
tomorrow we celebrate this Bountiful
2:08
Feast
2:09
um keep in mind that all of that
2:13
wouldn't none of that wouldn't would be
2:16
possible without Jesus having come and
2:20
given us hope so as you're working your
2:24
way
2:24
through what you're going to do
2:27
tomorrow and the people you're going to
2:29
see and the people you're going to visit
2:31
with keep the focus on things that
2:34
you're truly thankful for don't get
2:37
caught up in the rhetoric don't get
2:39
caught up in divisive things make
2:43
tomorrow a day truly about being
2:47
thankful and as we prepare to go into
2:51
the Christmas holiday
2:53
season um keep your focus on Jesus he's
2:57
the reason for this season he's the
2:59
reason for Thanksgiving he's the reason
3:02
for Christmas he's the reason for all
3:05
the things that we do and if we're going
3:08
to
3:10
truly
3:12
and
3:14
honestly have a day of Thanksgiving that
3:17
Thanksgiving has to start with being
3:19
thankful to God for the things we do
3:21
have for the things that are changing
3:25
and for the things that he
3:27
says matter
3:30
and political agendas don't don't
3:34
matter at at the end of the day they're
3:36
going to
3:38
change uh but what does
3:41
matter is keeping the spirit of
3:45
Thanksgiving uh the spirit of unity and
3:49
the spirit of peace that was one of the
3:52
biggest things that Jesus
3:55
said he said that that he is is the
4:00
source of all peace and he said that his
4:03
peace he gives to us not peace like the
4:06
world has but a piece that transcends
4:11
understanding and so try to be
4:15
thankful live in
4:18
peace uh the Apostle Paul said in
4:20
several different places you know to to
4:23
live at peace with all men as much as
4:25
you are
4:26
able and he said to be be a blessing to
4:30
those that are around
4:32
you
4:34
and he said other things like Jesus said
4:37
blessed are the
4:38
peacemakers so tomorrow take advantage
4:41
of the day of Thanksgiving take
4:44
advantage of
4:46
people um that are coming
4:49
to join you for this Thanksgiving
4:53
meal and create an attitude of Peace an
4:57
attitude of worship an attitude of
4:59
praise and most of all an attitude of
5:03
Thanksgiving um one of the things that I
5:05
try to do every year as I ask people
5:09
when they come to have the Thanksgiving
5:12
meal is to name one
5:17
thing that you're thankful
5:20
for um and try to shift the focus from
5:24
self to thankfulness and if you can do
5:27
that you will have an excellent
5:30
excellent
5:31
Thanksgiving you will enjoy your day you
5:35
will have a chance to have fellowship
5:40
and love and peace with those that are
5:42
around you so today's message is
5:46
short uh we all have a lot of things to
5:49
do in PR preparation for tomorrow some
5:51
people are traveling uh others are at
5:54
home preparing for those that are
5:57
traveling and uh make it about
6:01
Jesus not about
6:04
yourself if you see somebody out there
6:07
homelessness is a pretty big thing these
6:09
days and you have food give somebody a
6:14
plate uh invite them to come in and eat
6:18
I know that's a scary thought for some
6:20
people bringing in somebody who's
6:22
homeless on the streets who may not have
6:24
had a bath in a
6:27
while but Jesus said if you've done it
6:29
to the least of these you've done it
6:31
unto me so focus in on being
6:37
better better than you've been better
6:41
relationships um and trust God in
6:45
everything and in everything give thanks
6:48
for this is the will of God in Christ
6:49
Jesus concerning you so we will see you
6:52
next
6:53
week um I hope you have the Most Blessed
6:57
Thanksgiving you've had in years
6:59
keep your eyes on God keep your heart
7:03
turned toward God and don't forget about
7:05
your fellow
7:07
man because we are supposed to reach out
7:12
to
7:13
them uh and we're supposed to care for
7:16
them and love them and everybody needs
7:19
to
7:20
know that they're not alone and they're
7:23
not and that there is hope so we'll see
7:26
you guys next week you have a great and
7:28
wonderful Thanksgiving three
