good morning and welcome to Midweek

Insights with Pastor John i'm Pastor
0:05
John Moore and today we're going to take
0:07
a look at sanctification
0:10
i think it's really important that we as
0:12
Christians should have a firm grasp of
0:15
what sanctification actually is and why
0:18
it's so important to us and the fact
0:21
that
0:23
um a lot of times we we really don't
0:28
understand
0:30
exactly
0:33
what God has planned for us and that
0:38
things have to change for us to be able
0:40
to receive what he's changed for us so
0:42
we're in uh 1 Corinthians chapter 6 and
0:45
we're going to be in verses 9 10 and 11
0:48
he says "Know ye not that the
0:50
unrighteous shall not inherit the
0:52
kingdom of God be not deceived neither
0:55
fornicators nor idoltors nor adulterers
0:59
nor effeminate nor abusers of themselves
1:02
with mankind nor thieves nor covetous
1:04
nor drunkards nor revilers nor
1:07
extortioners shall inherit the kingdom
1:09
of God and such were some of you but
1:12
you're washed but you are sanctified but
1:16
you are justified in the name of the
1:18
Lord Jesus and by the spirit of our God
1:21
you know when we're looking through
1:23
this one of the things that happens when
1:26
we get saved and as God begins to deal
1:29
with this about things in our lives that
1:31
need to be taken care of and that we
1:33
need to work through because it says
1:36
every man must work out his own
1:37
salvation with fear and trembling um
1:40
when we get in this we we fail to
1:44
remember
1:46
that before we accepted Jesus as Lord
1:49
and Savior that we were not able we were
1:52
unrighteous and therefore we couldn't
1:55
inherit the kingdom of God but we also
1:59
need to keep in mind that because we are
2:02
sanctified and justified and washed in
2:06
the name of the Lord Jesus by the spirit
2:08
of God we're then able to enter into his
2:12
rest and a lot of times when we're going
2:15
through these things we
2:17
forget
2:19
that the world that we're supposed to be
2:22
reaching with the message of Jesus
2:24
Christ is just as broken as we were and
2:28
that we're not
2:32
to approach people that aren't saved in
2:35
judgment because Jesus came for the
2:38
lost he hates the sin but he doesn't
2:42
hate the sinner he loves the sinner he
2:45
died for them and when you look through
2:47
these three verses and we look at
2:52
um what he said he said "Be not
2:54
deceived." This is in verse 9 neither
2:57
fornicators nor idolattors nor
3:00
adulterers nor effeminate nor abusers of
3:03
themselves with
3:05
mankind nor thieves nor covetous nor
3:08
drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners
3:11
shall inherit the kingdom of God and if
3:14
we stopped right there we would be we
3:17
would be looking at people in the world
3:18
that are living a sinful life and we
3:21
would never look at them with compassion
3:23
as that they are lost and they need
3:26
Jesus just like we did and they need to
3:30
be loved just like Jesus loved us and we
3:34
need to approach them from the point of
3:37
view of not condemnation or condemning
3:40
them for what they're doing the Bible
3:42
already does that but we need to
3:44
approach them as these
3:46
are people that God loves that he
3:50
doesn't want them to live in that uh
3:52
type of lifestyle anymore and that we
3:55
need to be able to share with them the
3:57
gospel of Jesus Christ and let them know
4:00
that Jesus loves them just as much as he
4:03
loved loves us and listen to what he
4:06
says in vers seven because he points it
4:09
out he points this out very clearly he
4:12
says "And such were some of you none of
4:16
us were righteous." The only thing that
4:18
makes us righteous is Jesus Christ he
4:21
says "But you are washed." In other
4:23
words we're
4:24
cleansed but you're sanctified in other
4:27
words we're made um and but you're
4:30
justified in the name of the Lord Jesus
4:33
and by the spirit of our God so we don't
4:35
have a right to judge these people who
4:39
are living the way they do but we don't
4:41
have to accept their
4:44
lifestyle
4:46
and put a stamp of approval on it
4:49
because then we would be going against
4:50
God's word but he said we're supposed to
4:53
reach them we're supposed to teach them
4:56
we're supposed to show them there's a
4:58
better way to live
5:00
and when you look through these
5:04
things and he's talking about
5:07
fornicators idolattors
5:09
adulterers um
5:12
epheminite and abusers themselves with
5:15
mankind we need to take a look at that
5:17
and understand that fornicators are
5:19
people that participate in
5:22
um sexual acts outside of marriage um
5:27
idolattors are people that build uh
5:31
idols in the place of Christ uh people
5:34
that are adulterers that break their
5:36
covenants uh with their marriages uh
5:40
epheminite is talking about homosexuals
5:43
and lesbians uh abusers themselves with
5:47
mankind that's prostitution whether it's
5:50
male prostitutes or female prostitutes
5:53
thieves people that covet what other
5:55
people have people that uh
5:58
are drunks
6:01
uh revilers people that go against
6:04
people you see a lot of that today
6:07
extortioners people that try to hold
6:09
things from people's past against them
6:11
and blackmail them uh shall inherit the
6:14
kingdom of God and so we need to be very
6:18
careful how we approach people we need
6:21
to be very careful not to fall into the
6:23
place of judgment where we saying "Well
6:25
I'm better than you are because I don't
6:28
do those things." Well at one time you
6:30
did and the only difference between you
6:33
and them is the fact that you have been
6:36
saved by grace and uh Paul said that
6:40
we're all saved by grace lest any man
6:42
should boast it was not by our own power
6:45
that we got saved but by the power of
6:47
God and through the name of the Lord
6:50
Jesus Christ and and by the spirit of
6:52
God and so we become washed and
6:55
sanctified and justified by Jesus's
6:59
actions by nothing of our own the the
7:02
thing that gets us into that place is
7:04
when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior
7:07
and there's so many
7:09
times that people get saved and and they
7:12
spend time saved where they move into
7:16
this place where they look at people
7:19
without compassion and you'll read
7:22
through unless Jesus was literally
7:26
dealing with
7:29
hypocrisy he always treated people with
7:31
love and compassion stop and think about
7:33
the woman that was caught in adultery
7:37
um they they dragged her out in the
7:39
street they caught her in the act of
7:41
adultery so just basic by reading
7:43
between the lines they dragged her out
7:45
into the street
7:47
naked and then they tempted Jesus by
7:51
saying which what should we do with her
7:54
she was caught in the act of adultery
7:57
jesus first he just knelt down and he
8:01
wrote in the dirt and then he looked up
8:04
and says,"Well what does the law
8:06
say?" And they
8:11
said "The law says that we should stone
8:14
her." And Jesus's reply to that was "He
8:18
who is without sin shall cast the first
8:20
stone." And then it says he he knelt
8:23
back down and began to write in the dirt
8:25
again and when he looked up the crowd
8:28
had dispersed and the only person
8:30
standing in front of him was the woman
8:31
caught in adultery and his response his
8:36
question to
8:38
her is a clue to us of how to deal with
8:42
people who are dealing with sin in their
8:44
lives he
8:45
said,"Woman where are thine
8:48
accusers?" And she said "I have there be
8:52
none." And he said "Then neither do I
8:55
accuse you." Now we're talking about
8:56
Jesus we're talking about the King of
8:59
Kings the Lord of Lords the Savior of
9:01
mankind he looks at the woman he asks
9:03
her "Where are your accusers?" And she
9:05
says "There be none." And he is response
9:08
to
9:09
her is a great a great show of his love
9:13
he says "Then neither do I condemn uh
9:16
accuse you." And then he tells her how
9:19
to correct her life he says "Go and sin
9:24
no more."
9:26
And that's what he tells us when we come
9:29
to him in honesty and in truth and in a
9:33
repented heart he tells us the same
9:36
thing he told the woman go and sin no
9:39
more uh he also tells us 1 John 1:9 that
9:45
as Christians we're going to make
9:47
mistakes but if we confess our sin he's
9:50
faithful and just to forgive us our sin
9:52
and to cleanse us from all
9:53
unrighteousness there's no mistakes
9:56
we've made that can't be forgiven and
9:59
there's no mistakes the world has made
10:01
that can't be forgiven what they need is
10:03
somebody to show them the reality of
10:06
Jesus in such a way that they can't deny
10:09
Christ
10:10
and if they do deny Christ at least you
10:13
you have sewn the seed of salvation
10:16
somebody else may come along and water
10:18
it and they may that person's life will
10:22
turn around so we need to move away from
10:26
being judgmental and we need to move in
10:29
to the trueness of sanctification and
10:32
justification which is we realize that
10:35
we only have that because of what Christ
10:37
did and it's nothing that we did and if
10:40
we're going to be true soul winners if
10:43
we're going to reach out to lead the
10:46
lost into a place of
10:51
uh salvation redemption justification
10:55
holiness that we're going to have to
10:58
show them exactly what Christ showed us
11:03
so I'm going to leave that with you to
11:05
think about we're as we go forward in
11:08
our week and I want you to have a
11:10
blessed week i want to pray for you in
11:12

11:15

11:16
that this will minister to them minister
11:18
to their hearts not only to those that
11:21
are saved but also to those that are not
11:23
saved Lord and that you provide hope to
11:25
them in such a way that they're able to
11:28
receive you as Lord and Savior and begin
11:30
to walk according to your ways and to
11:33
find themselves a good solid Bible-based
11:37
Bible teaching church where they can be
11:40
discipled and to become effective soul
11:43
winners for you in Jesus name we pray
11:45
amen i'll see you guys next week
