Good morning. Welcome to Insights with
0:05
Pastor John. I'm Pastor John and today
0:07
we're going to talk about miracles. You
0:10
know, um, one of the things that you
0:13
hear a lot is, you know, Jesus did many
0:16
mighty miracles in his ministry. And,
0:20
um,
0:23
a lot of people think that with the
0:26
death of the apostles, the miracles
0:28
ended.
0:30
And uh I want to make sure that we we
0:33
all are aware of the fact that
0:37
miracles still happen today. And I've
0:40
witnessed many of them. And uh I want
0:43
you to
0:45
think about this. What was it about
0:48
Jesus's ministry that caused miracles to
0:52
happen?
0:55
And it all comes back to one thing,
0:57
faith. And uh I want to share with you
1:01
out of the book of Mark chapter 5.
1:04
And we're talking about the woman with
1:06
the issue of blood.
1:09
Now what's going on at this time is
1:12
Jesus's fame is spread all about and uh
1:16
people have heard about the miracles and
1:19
people being raised from the dead and
1:21
these kind of things and um
1:25
it's important to realize
1:28
what happened and that um so this is
1:33
this is how a miracle takes place. It's
1:36
also how healings take place and things
1:38
that come from God that take place. So
1:43
Jesus is uh
1:52
he he's went across the sea from
1:54
Dopolis. He comes to the to the city
1:57
there. Gyrus is uh he's a ruler of the
2:00
synagogue. He comes to Jesus. His
2:03
daughter's dying. He asked Jesus to come
2:05
and pray for his daughter. Jesus says he
2:08
will.
2:10
And then as he's going towards Gyrus's
2:14
house, he's he's surrounded by a throng
2:17
of people. And what happens is amazing,
2:22
but it still happens to uh today. And I
2:25
want to look at this. It says, "And
2:28
Jesus went with him, and much people
2:30
followed him and thronged him." And if
2:33
you don't know what a throng is, it's
2:35
like
2:37
in the 90s mosh pits were really big and
2:39
these are just people just pressing in
2:41
trying to touch somebody. Um
2:45
it says, "And a certain woman which had
2:47
an issue of blood 12 years and had
2:50
suffered many things of many physicians
2:52
and had spent all that she had and was
2:55
nothing bettered, but rather grew worse.
2:59
And when she had heard of Jesus,
3:03
came in the press behind and touched his
3:06
garment.
3:08
For she said, "If I may touch but his
3:11
clothes, I shall behold." And
3:14
straightway the fountain of her blood
3:16
was dried up. And she felt in her body
3:18
that Jesus was healed of that plague.
3:21
And Jesus immediately knowing in himself
3:24
that virtue had gone out of him, turned
3:26
him about in the press, and said, "Who
3:30
touched my clothes?"
3:33
And his disciples said unto them, "Thou
3:35
seeest the multitude throng in thee, and
3:37
sayest thou, who touched me?"
3:41
And he looked around about to see her
3:43
that had done this thing.
3:46
But the woman, fearing and trembling,
3:48
knowing that knowing what was done in
3:52
her, came and fell down before him, and
3:55
told him all the truth. And he said unto
3:59
her, "Daughter, thy faith have made thee
4:02
whole. Go in peace, and behold of thy
4:05
plague."
4:07
It's important to understand what
4:08
happened here. Number one,
4:12
she heard
4:14
about Jesus.
4:16
Without hearing about Jesus, there's no
4:19
faith to activate.
4:22
And she had heard about all of the
4:24
things that he had done and healings.
4:27
And she had determined in herself. She
4:30
she was desperate. She's at the end of
4:32
her rope. Everything she's she's tried
4:34
for 12 years has uh not helped. She's um
4:40
trying to
4:43
get healthy and the doctors can't help
4:45
her. She has no hope. It's it's an
4:47
impossible situation.
4:50
And she hears about Jesus. And in
4:53
hearing about Jesus, her faith is
4:56
activated. She realized in herself, this
4:59
is someone that can help me. This is
5:02
someone I can turn to. I can go to. I
5:05
can touch this person
5:08
and I can be made whole.
5:10
When she hears he comes into the town,
5:13
she determines to come out of her house.
5:15
And there's some stuff here that's
5:17
that's really important to know. Number
5:18
one, she had an issue of blood. And
5:20
because of that issue of blood,
5:22
according to the law of Moses, she was
5:24
unclean. She wasn't allowed to be in
5:26
public. She couldn't go and she wasn't
5:29
she couldn't go to the synagogue. Um,
5:32
and if she touched anybody because of
5:35
the issue of blood, they too were
5:37
unclean. So, she's got all these things
5:40
stacked against her. She's lost
5:42
everything she had. All her money is
5:45
gone. She spent it all on doctors. Sound
5:47
familiar? You've been in that position.
5:50
You're at that place now. You're
5:52
desperate and you're looking for
5:54
answers. And I'm here to tell you, there
5:57
is an answer. And that answer is Jesus.
6:00
And what happens is she makes a decision
6:04
if I'm going to
6:07
I am going to get healed of this
6:10
affliction.
6:12
And I know that if I can just get into
6:14
this group and get close enough to touch
6:16
his clothes, I can be whole. And she
6:20
does it. She violated every law there
6:24
was
6:25
because she was desperate to get to
6:27
Jesus. And what happens which is a
6:31
fantastic thing is Jesus doesn't chide
6:34
her. In other words, he doesn't put her
6:36
down for having faith enough to come and
6:39
and touch his clothes. But there's
6:41
something happens in there. And when she
6:43
touches him,
6:45
he feels virtue flow out of him and
6:49
she's healed. And he turns around and
6:52
says, "Who touched me?"
6:55
And uh his disciples can't understand
6:59
why he's asking that question because
7:01
he's he's surrounded by a mob of people
7:03
that are all touching him. Yet with all
7:06
these other people that touched him,
7:08
only one person
7:12
received this healing. And it's because
7:15
her faith said, "If I can do this,
7:20
I can be made whole." And that's what
7:22
Jesus told her. your faith has made you
7:24
whole. U and her plague dried up. Now, I
7:29
want you to stop and think about this.
7:30
Have you ever been desperate enough to
7:32
actually
7:34
go after God with everything you've got
7:36
and say, "You know what? No matter what
7:37
happens, no matter what the situation
7:39
is, I am going to get an answer. I am
7:42
going to get what I need." And she
7:45
needed a healing. She needed to be
7:47
restored from this so that her life
7:49
would go forward. so she could do and be
7:52
who she was supposed to be and she could
7:55
live her life without fear of regret or
7:59
any other thing.
8:01
So here's the point.
8:06
When you're seeking God
8:09
and you need to touch, you need virtue
8:12
to flow.
8:14
And that virtue is the anointing power
8:17
of God. It's through the Holy Spirit.
8:19
And this is what happens. And I've
8:21
experienced this firsthand.
8:24
When you go to pray for somebody, you
8:26
lay hands on them, you anoint them,
8:27
you're going to pray for them, and their
8:30
faith, it's not about you. You're just a
8:32
point of contact between God and and the
8:34
person being prayed for. But what
8:36
happens when you when you pray for them
8:39
and their faith is reaching out to God
8:41
and they actually have faith enough to
8:43
receive it? When you pray for them, you
8:47
feel the virtue flow. It flows through
8:49
you to them and they feel it because
8:52
they receive it. Now,
8:57
how important is it
9:00
to understand
9:02
that every single Christian
9:06
that there is today
9:09
was given that authority by Christ
9:13
to heal the sick.
9:15
And uh it's in Mark 16. And this is what
9:19
he said in Mark 16. I want to read it to
9:21
you because you really need to get this
9:23
down in your spirit so that you can walk
9:26
in the place that Jesus is called. And
9:28
it's in verse 17. It's Mark 16:17.
9:32
Listen to this. He says, "In these signs
9:35
shall follow them that believe.
9:38
In my name shall they cast out devils.
9:40
They shall speak with new tongues. They
9:42
shall take up serpents. and if they
9:44
drink any deadly thing, it shall not
9:46
hurt them. And they shall lay hands on
9:49
the sick and they shall recover.
9:53
That's your heritage. That's your
9:55
inheritance. That's something Jesus
9:57
promised you. And the word shall is used
9:59
through here several times.
10:01
Um and the and there's a reason for it.
10:04
And
10:06
Isaiah 55:11 says, "So shall my word be
10:10
that goeth forth out of my mouth. It
10:12
shall accomplish that thing where unto I
10:15
sent it, and shall not return unto me
10:16
void. Jesus spoke it into existence. He
10:19
said, "These signs shall follow them
10:22
which believe." They shall lay hands on
10:25
the sick, and they shall recover. God
10:28
gave you that authority to operate with
10:31
his power. It's his power you're
10:33
operating with. It requires two things.
10:36
First, you need to believe that you can
10:38
operate in that power. And then the
10:41
other side of that is the person you're
10:43
praying for also has to believe that God
10:47
is willing to heal them and all they
10:49
need to do is receive a touch from him.
10:53
They just need to reach out by faith and
10:55
touch him.
10:57
And it's the the most important thing
10:59
you can imagine right now. Because
11:03
if you can believe that, you can change
11:05
any situation you're facing. Whether
11:07
it's a physical healing, a financial
11:09
healing, a restoration, a of of a broken
11:14
family, whatever it is,
11:17
God can heal it. He can restore it. He
11:20
can perform a miracle. He can make
11:22
things better than they've ever been in
11:24
the past. Um,
11:29
in
11:30
2012,
11:32
um, there was a gentleman
11:35
and and I witnessed him getting off a
11:38
bus. Now, I'd seen him around several
11:41
times as, you know, he was in his early
11:43
60s. He was walking around. He was doing
11:47
life to the best he could. And, uh, he
11:50
got hurt. He really tore up his leg
11:53
really bad. and he got off the bus and I
11:55
seen him. He's on crutches
11:58
and the Holy Spirit spoke to me and
11:59
says, "When he gets over here, pray for
12:02
him
12:03
and I will heal this lake."
12:06
Okay, Lord. Now, I am on the street,
12:10
okay? I'm not inside a church. I'm not
12:12
inside some special sanctuary place. I
12:15
am on the street. And he gets over there
12:18
and he finally gets over to the this
12:21
grassy area and he sits down
12:25
and I asked him, "Do you believe in the
12:27
healing power of Christ?"
12:29
And he said, "Yes, I do."
12:33
I said, "Uh, will you let me pray for
12:36
you because I believe God wants to heal
12:38
your leg." And he said, "Yes, you can
12:41
pray for me." Now, give you a little
12:43
background about this. This man had been
12:45
prayed for at least 20 times that day by
12:47
different people. And everybody that
12:49
prayed for him all said the same thing.
12:52
They all prayed that he would have
12:54
strength to get through his time of
12:56
trouble.
12:58
But God spoke to me and said, "I want
12:59
you to pray for him. I'm going to heal
13:01
his leg."
13:03
So I prayed for him
13:06
and I asked him. I said, "Do you believe
13:09
that God has healed you?" And he said,
13:12
"Yes, I do." And I reached out with my
13:15
hand and grabbed his hand and I said,
13:18
"Then
13:19
rise up in the name of Jesus Christ and
13:22
walk." He got up.
13:25
He started shouting. He started praising
13:28
God. He started leaping. He took the
13:31
bandages off his leg. He put his shoe
13:33
back on. He goes back to the hospital
13:35
the next day
13:38
and he walks in carrying the crutches on
13:41
his shoulder and he walks up and he
13:44
says, "I need to return these cuz
13:46
there's nothing wrong with my leg." The
13:48
doctor freaks out. Okay, this is this is
13:50
verifiable. This this whole thing is
13:53
verified.
13:55
The doctor sends him in for new X-rays
14:00
and a new MRI.
14:02
And he comes back and there's nothing
14:04
wrong with his leg. And the doctor says,
14:07
"Well,
14:08
I don't know what to tell you. There's
14:09
nothing wrong with your leg." And he
14:11
says, "I told you there was nothing
14:12
wrong with my leg. God healed my leg."
14:15
And the doctor says, "Well, I don't know
14:16
if I actually believe that or not." He
14:18
says, "I think we just got your MRIs and
14:21
X-rays mixed up with somebody else's."
14:23
Now, the guy's still walking around to
14:25
this day. Still has no problems with
14:28
that leg. God restored that leg
14:30
completely and fully. And in any
14:33
situation, God can do the exact same
14:37
thing for you.
14:40
It requires two things. The person
14:42
praying for you to believe in the
14:44
healing power of God. The person
14:46
receiving the praying the prayer also
14:50
has to believe in the healing power of
14:51
God and has to believe have by faith has
14:55
to believe that God wants to heal them.
14:58
When those two things happen, virtue
15:00
flows. The person praying will feel it
15:04
flow through them and the person
15:06
receiving will feel touch them. And when
15:09
those two things happen, that miracle
15:11
takes place instantly.
15:14
God is still in the miracle working
15:17
business. It has not changed. He's the
15:21
same yesterday, today, and forever.
15:25
Do you need healing? Are you seeking
15:28
after God to change your situation?
15:31
Do you need anything in your life? It's
15:35
a need. It's something that you need.
15:37
It's not your desire. It's not, you
15:39
know, golden apples on a tree. I mean,
15:41
this is a need.
15:43
God can meet that need if you believe
15:48
him. And that's the key. You have to
15:52
believe him. And I believe with all my
15:56
heart in today's world in the in in the
15:59
church that miracles and healings should
16:03
be taking place on a regular basis. It
16:06
shouldn't be a hitand- miss situation.
16:08
It shouldn't be, well, you know, it
16:11
might happen or it could happen. This
16:14
needs to be something that you can
16:16
believe in, that you can hold on to. The
16:19
only time in Jesus's ministry
16:23
where he wasn't able to perform miracles
16:26
was in his hometown of Nazareth.
16:30
And it tells you in the word of God that
16:32
Jesus could not perform many mighty
16:34
miracles there because of their
16:36
unbelief.
16:40
God's not dead.
16:43
He's still on the throne.
16:46
Jesus is there with arms outstretched
16:49
saying, "Come unto me all you who are
16:50
weary, heavy laden, and I will give you
16:52
rest."
16:54
Healing is part of that rest.
16:57
You need a miracle, it's time to come in
16:59
faith. Come and seek God with a whole
17:02
heart. God will give you what you need.
17:05
He will take care of you in every single
17:08
situation
17:09
if you believe. So, I want to leave that
17:13
with you today. I want you to keep that
17:16
in mind when you go up and you get in
17:18
that prayer line and you're seeking to
17:19
receive a healing or a miracle or a
17:23
change in your situation. If you
17:25
believe, like the woman with the issue
17:27
of blood believed, all she needed to do
17:29
was touch the hem of his garment to be
17:32
made whole, God's got a miracle waiting
17:35
for you. We'll see you guys next week.
17:38
Goodbye and God bless.
