0:04
Popular Assembly of God We would like to
0:06
welcome you here If you're watching us
0:08
for the first time we we want to
0:11
appreciate you and and you if as you
0:15
watch uh and share today uh hit the like
0:21
and the and the follow button at the
0:24
bottom of the screen Today we're going
0:26
to talk about something I think is
0:28
really important
0:29
We're in a time of uh civil unrest We're
0:33
in a time of of people doing strange and
0:37
odd things that we're not used to And
0:41
uh it can be very taxing on us and it
0:45
can cause us to have doubts and
0:47
confusion and fear and and because of
0:50
that I want to share with you something
0:53
Jesus said It's in Matthew 11 28 29 and
0:58
30 And one of the things that's of super
1:01
important for us as believers to keep in
1:04
mind is that Jesus one of the things
1:07
Jesus told us was that we would have
1:10
peace in him And I want you to listen to
1:13
what he said This is verse 28 29 and 30
1:16
He says "Come unto me all ye that labor
1:19
and are heavy laden and I will give you
1:21
rest Take my yoke upon you and learn of
1:24
me for I am meek and lowly in heart and
1:27
ye shall find rest unto your souls For
1:30
my yoke is easy and my burden is light
1:33
One of the things that we as human
1:36
beings do is we will allow the cares of
1:40
this world to overtake us and then we
1:42
become
1:44
ineffective in our testimony and in our
1:48
our life in Christ because we get
1:51
burdened and and we get under all this
1:56
intense pressure and and we we feel like
2:00
you know what's the use of continuing to
2:03
cry when it doesn't seem to be that
2:05
we're making any progress going forward
2:08
and the things that we're doing or are
2:11
not being successful So I want to
2:14
encourage you to take a look at what
2:17
Jesus said If you learn of him you learn
2:20
how he operates and how he does things
2:24
And those things will give us an
2:26
opportunity to grow within ourselves
2:30
And Jesus doesn't want us to stay the
2:33
way we were when we found
2:36
him but he wants us to grow beyond where
2:41
we've been And to do that you need to
2:44
learn what he says and what he thinks
2:47
And you need to know that in him all
2:51
things are possible
2:54
even when we're looking at all of these
2:56
strange crazy horrific things that are
2:59
going on and we try to figure out you
3:01
know how how do I get from point A to
3:03
point B and the way that we do that is
3:07
to begin to learn of him to learn how he
3:10
thinks to learn how he operates to learn
3:14
what he says we can do in him even when
3:19
it feels like we're just overburdened
3:22
and and uh worn out and worn down Um in
3:27
Matthew 6:34 Jesus says "Take no thought
3:31
for tomorrow for sufficient to the days
3:33
the evil thereof." What he's telling you
3:36
is "Stop worrying about tomorrow Stop
3:40
thinking about all the things that are
3:42
going wrong and all the things that are
3:45
weighing us down and all the troubles
3:47
that we're having But rather let's shift
3:51
our focus back to the one who has the
3:54
solutions to the one who can help us
3:58
overcome all of these things that we're
4:03
uh so burdened down by If you give it to
4:09
Jesus and leave it in his hands then the
4:12
things that you're experiencing are not
4:16
so
4:17
overwhelming It's when we begin to try
4:20
to deal with these things ourselves in
4:22
our own strength in our own thoughts in
4:24
our own processes that we become so
4:27
weighed down with all these things that
4:29
we're fighting against And it keeps us
4:32
from reaching the pinnacles of success
4:35
in Christ And those go contrary to what
4:39
people think are the pinnacles of
4:41
success in life Because Jesus tells us
4:45
repeatedly stop worrying about what's
4:48
going to happen here but rather focus on
4:52
this Where are you going to spend
4:55
eternity and when we shift our focus
4:59
uh from ourselves the problems in this
5:03
world Jesus said all the things that are
5:06
happening right now were going to happen
5:07
And he tells us
5:10
um not to be concerned about those
5:13
things Rather focus in on what is about
5:17
to happen which is the return of Christ
5:21
And when he returns things are going to
5:23
drastically
5:24
change And so we need to be prepared for
5:27
that We need to be ready uh to meet him
5:30
in the air when he comes to gather the
5:32
church And we can't do that if we're
5:34
constantly focused on all the stuff
5:37
that's going on Uh political turmoil
5:40
wars rumors of wars uh economics uh
5:45
downturns slides into that Um all of
5:49
these things that are going on are
5:50
things that Jesus said were going to
5:52
happen And if he said they were going to
5:55
happen then we have to change our focus
5:57
Okay Well if these are going to happen I
6:00
need to stop worrying about that because
6:02
he already said it was going to happen
6:05
And what we do is we need to focus on
6:07
what he said And what he said was "I
6:11
will never leave you or forsake
6:13
you." He said "I'm the beginning and the
6:15
end I'm the alpha and the omega." He
6:18
tells you repeatedly about himself about
6:20
what he's going to do He has so much
6:22
care for us And the father has so much
6:26
care for us that if we can let
6:31
go of the things that weigh us down and
6:35
burden us we can enter into this what he
6:39
calls rest And that means that mentally
6:43
we're no longer overwhelmed by the
6:45
things we're facing We can have
6:49
uh confidence in him We can take courage
6:53
that no matter what happens he's still
6:56
going to be there He's still going to be
6:58
the God that we need He's still going to
7:01
be there to fulfill in us the things
7:05
that he said he came to do And you know
7:08
we're we're entering into the Easter
7:12
season
7:14
Um and this is a time where people need
7:17
to stop and
7:19
reflect about what Jesus said not only
7:23
about himself but about the father He
7:27
tells us and and most Christians this is
7:30
the first scripture they ever learn Uh
7:33
for God so loved the world that he gave
7:35
his only begotten son that whosoever
7:37
should believeth in him should not
7:39
perish but have everlasting life And
7:41
he's telling you I love you this much I
7:44
love you so much I was willing to come
7:46
and die in your place to restore your
7:50
fellowship with the father that was
7:53
destroyed back in the
7:55
garden And we need to realize just to
7:59
how much we mean to God to the point
8:03
that we are no longer looking at our
8:05
circumstances We're no longer looking at
8:08
the political situation We're no longer
8:10
looking at the world and being in
8:12
distress and being afraid that we might
8:16
um that we're going to be overwhelmed
8:18
and that we're going to everything's
8:20
going to fall
8:21
apart because he said "I will never
8:23
leave you or forsake you." And if we can
8:26
wrap our mind around that if we can
8:28
start to realize that in
8:32
Christ we can do all things That's what
8:34
Paul said I can do all things in Christ
8:36
who strengthens me We have this
8:40
fantastic
8:42
fantastic amazing
8:47
um
8:49
God that we can't even really fathom or
8:52
wrap our minds around of his love and
8:55
care for us is so great that he was
8:59
willing to die for us And that's what
9:01
this Easter season is about It's about
9:04
his death burial and resurrection about
9:07
what he came here to do to start with
9:10
and what he's going to be doing as we go
9:13
forward And so as you're preparing to go
9:16
in to your Easter preparations and
9:20
preparations for celebrating the death
9:23
burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ
9:26
Uh I I want to encourage you I want to
9:29
encourage you to take the
9:31
time to enter
9:34
in to his
9:36
rest Um because it's a perfect place of
9:40
peace It's a perfect place of love It's
9:44
a perfect place of joy And when we're
9:47
located
9:48
there then the things that are going on
9:51
in the world that surround us constantly
9:52
and attack us constantly become of less
9:55
and less consequence because our
9:58
confidence is in Jesus and not in what
10:01
we see So I want you guys
10:05
to find that place in yourself where you
10:09
learn how to fully and completely trust
10:12
that God
10:13
has it under control that he's concerned
10:17
about your well-being that he said he
10:21
provides all your needs according to his
10:23
riches and glory And stop worrying about
10:26
those things Stop worrying about the
10:28
political atmos uh atmosphere that we're
10:30
in Stop worrying about all those things
10:34
and learn to trust in him So I'm going
10:37
to leave that with you guys You guys
10:38
have a fantastic week and we'll see you
10:41
again next week
