'Pee Bottles' Hidden At 2026 Met Gala Amid Jeff Bezos Sponsorship
May 5, 2026
Protesters targeted Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ahead of this year’s Met Gala, where he served as an honorary chair alongside his wife Lauren Sánchez Bezos.
According to The New York Times, activists from Everyone Hates Elon placed about 300 bottles of fake urine inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the venue for the fashion event.
The stunt drew inspiration from previous reports by Amazon workers who said they had been forced to urinate in bottles during demanding shifts.
Images shared on social media showed a “pee bottle” dispenser outside the museum, highlighting the protest’s criticism of Amazon’s labor practices.
The group also urged the public to “boycott the Bezos Met Gala,” spreading the message through projections on buildings and signage across New York City.
On May 4, unions and advocacy groups hosted a “Ball Without Billionaires” as an alternative to the gala, which was taking place later that day.
The event featured workers from Amazon, The Washington Post, and other companies wearing what organizers described as more ethical fashion.
