Bruce Springsteen has released a new song about Minneapolis, responding to "the state terror being visited on the city" and the recent killings by federal immigration agents. Springsteen wrote, recorded, and released the track over one weekend. He dedicated it to Minneapolis residents, immigrants, and Alex Pretti and Renee Good, the victims of ICE killings.  Springsteen sings, "There were bloody footprints / Where mercy should have stood / And two dead left to die on snow-filled streets / Alex Pretti and Renee Good." The lyrics describe "a city aflame fought fire and ice 'neath an occupier's boots," while describing ICE as "King Trump's private army from the DHS." Springsteen has long criticized Donald Trump, telling a UK crowd in May that the President is “rolling back historic civil rights legislation that led to a more just and plural society." In response, Trump posted on Truth Social, calling Springsteen "highly overrated," and a "pushy, obnoxious jerk."
