Hey there! Hopefully I cached you at a good time. My name is Connor Porter and I'm a
0:04
technical support specialist here at Zoic. Today we're going to be talking about caching and how
0:10
it can benefit your site for a multitude of reasons. So what is caching? Well, it's servers
0:17
local to the users of your site that can store a saved copy so it can deliver your site faster
0:24
So why does it benefit you? Well, it can drastically help improve LCP scores and also
0:32
boost your page RPM performance drastically. It's vitally important that you have the Zoic cache
0:38
working properly even if you have caching externally either through your host or a plugin
0:45
And with these multiple layers of caching when set up properly it won't affect your Zoic site
0:51
negatively. What to do first? Well, the first thing is to go into your dashboard
0:56
Go to the Leap tab right here. Go to caching. You're going to scroll all the way down here and then go to the debug cache
1:14
You're going to enter your domain. The result you are going to want to see is subsequent calls will be cache hits. A cache
1:24
has to first miss before it can be a hit and that's why your Zoic cache hit rate can never
1:29
be 100% exactly. Having said that, I like to get you darn close to it. So if you scroll up here
1:37
you go to advanced settings, you're going to come down to default cache age. Now you're going to
1:42
want to make sure it's set to 90 days or 777-6000. 777-6000. Kind of sounds like an info commercial
1:54
phone number, doesn't it? If you go down a little further, you're going to see override cache
1:59
control headers and this should be set to on as well. So you're going to want to make sure that
2:05
is set to on as well. Just below that, you'll see force caching by device. That should be set to on
2:13
and one last one, ignore cache control headers, no cache should be set to on as well. With these on
2:22
it'll maintain that your Zoic cache is working properly. Confused yet? Well, if so, clear that
2:30
cache in your head because we have a little bit more to go. Any site that has a Zoic cache working
2:35
properly can see a boost in page RPM performance by 55%. 55%. More so, constant requests between
2:49
Zoic or your host or any other thing can lead to origin errors, 502 errors, 520 errors and nobody
2:57
wants that at all. So let's make sure your Zoic cache is working properly. So go follow my steps
3:04
and remember, that's your order from Connor Porter
