Hi, and welcome to day three of the
0:03
30-day mixed media card challenge using
0:06
those craft supplies that you've got
0:07
hanging around. So, today we're going to
0:10
be making this card. So, let's get
0:13
started. I'm just using an ordinary
0:16
piece of card that's folded in half, so
0:17
you can do it any size you like. This is
0:19
7 in x 5 in. And I'm going to start by
0:22
taking an ink pad and just running it
0:24
around the edge just for effect. Lots of
0:26
different ways that you can do this. And
0:28
if you see the professionals, they will
0:31
show you all sorts of tools and
0:32
techniques to make sure you get a really
0:34
quality job. All I'm showing you is if
0:36
you've got an ink pad, you can just run
0:38
it around and there you go. Might be a
0:41
little bit more rough and ready, but
0:42
that's sometimes the effect you want. So
0:46
that's what this series is all about,
0:48
not needing a thousand craft supplies.
0:51
What we are doing today is some
0:52
stamping. So whether you've got stamps
0:55
or not, I suggest you watch and see what
0:57
you think cuz maybe you'd like to have a
0:59
go. And I'm going to use these stamps
1:01
that you apply to an acrylic block. It's
1:04
much cheaper and much more flexible. So
1:06
you can see I've got the flower there.
1:09
And all you do is stick it onto the
1:10
acrylic block. It just holds itself
1:12
there. You just place it on. And then
1:14
I'm going to cover it with ink using my
1:15
ink pad. And because it's on a clear
1:21
you can place it exactly where you want.
1:23
There's no guessing. There's no
1:25
wondering which bit it's overlapping
1:26
with. And then there we go. A nice
1:29
flower print. So obviously you could do
1:31
that with lots of different things. So
1:35
don't think stamping's difficult.
1:37
There's easy ways of doing it. And I'm
1:39
going to show you now by adding my
1:41
message, my greeting, thinking of you as
1:45
a stamp. So normally you'd just use
1:47
another block or clean it all up, but
1:50
I'm just going to carry on to show you.
1:52
So, I've now applied that to the block,
1:54
and you could see how easy it was to
1:55
take one off and put the other one on.
1:57
The only difficulty I've got is picking
1:59
it up off the table. Um,
2:02
and then I can place it because I can
2:05
see through the block. So, I can place
2:07
it perfectly directly over my flower.
2:13
Bit of pressure. And there we go. And
2:16
that's how easy it is. So, that's one of
2:18
the skills I've included in this video.
2:21
And I'm now going to make some 3D effect
2:23
at the bottom just using a PVA glue and
2:27
tissue paper. And all I've done is tear
2:29
up my tissue paper into small pieces and
2:32
then I'm going to stick them on. Now you
2:34
could draw a design, draw leaves, stems,
2:38
whatever you want. I'm literally just
2:41
gluing them on. And you'll see I'm
2:44
folding them up. Deliberately getting
2:47
them screwed up a bit. And that's to
2:49
give a bit more texture.
2:51
So you can imagine kids would love doing
2:54
this to a card. So it is a great one to
2:57
involve them with. And I'm just going
3:00
for an overall green effect down here.
3:02
So I've sped the the film up a little
3:04
bit so you don't get too bored. But as I
3:07
say, you could do a fancy design. You
3:09
could do sky, clouds, anything you
3:11
wanted using your tissue paper. So, if
3:14
you're enjoying this video, could you
3:16
give me a thumbs up so it spreads to
3:17
more people? And then we can all be
3:20
making cards, even though we're not
3:22
really card makers. And then once I'm
3:25
happy that I've got enough done there,
3:28
I'm going to turn my attention to the
3:29
stem. And I could just get a green
3:31
marker and draw a stem on. That would be
3:33
absolutely fine. But I think I'm going
3:35
to go for more 3D by rolling up some of
3:38
this tissue paper to form a stem. Just
3:40
going to try and get it nice and tight
3:42
because I don't want a really fat stem.
3:46
I'm not sure it's going to be long
3:47
enough either. So, yeah, I'll do two.
3:51
And I'll stick them both on and that'll
3:54
give me a little bit more texture on
3:58
And because they're tissue paper, even
4:00
though they're rolled up, they won't
4:02
take much gluing down. And you won't
4:04
need any specialist glues. You can just
4:06
stick with your PVA. Mine's an actual
4:09
something called a decopage glue, but
4:11
any PVA glue will do it. Oh, it's very
4:14
green. So, I'm just going to rinse it in
4:15
my water, get that brush rinsed, dry it
4:19
off a little bit, and then back in the
4:22
glue. So, I'm just going to dab some
4:26
exactly where I want the stem to be.
4:38
And then the other one.
4:44
And then I think yeah, a little bit more
4:46
glue. And just make sure it's completely
4:48
pressed down, completely covered. And
4:51
there's the card. So I hope you've
4:53
enjoyed it. And I hope you'll enjoy
4:55
having a go at those two techniques and
4:57
making your own flower card today.
