what's up everyone we are back with another episode of two straws
0:16
[Music]
0:23
it's a long time coming too because uh We've we've been to this fight week before you know what it
0:31
um
0:38
no need for luck or chance or whatever you're making it to
0:44
the stage I was just talking to somebody the other day about how like okay so I've been in this sport for like over a
0:50
decade and a half I mean yeah like 17 years of like training competing and all that kind of stuff and I'm like I feel
0:56
like numbers wise like I just have like there's a lot more possibility of like weird [ __ ] happening so yeah yeah
1:04
because you've shown up a million times yeah yeah that is it's just something that happens there's there's a bingo
1:11
like list somewhere of things that can happen to you in your MMA career uh
1:17
luckily you haven't checked the [ __ ] yourself box yet but we know many of you hey why are you gonna even put that onto
1:25
the Universe I know I'm just saying what's your problem there are a lot of weird anomalies that happen you know and
1:31
you've checked a bunch of boxes but luckily not the really bad ones and that was one of them and now we got that out
1:37
the way and now it's never gonna happen it's your problem no I'm just saying that they're getting sick before getting
1:43
sick during a wake up it happens a bunch in fact it happened to uh two people in
1:48
the last fight card this week right so the main event at that and that's just
1:54
the worst one because there's so much pressure on you to just do it anyway
1:59
like just do it even though you feel like [ __ ] and you're probably gonna get your ass kicked you just want to just
2:05
fight anyway what's worse though you know because it's like if you if you go
2:10
ahead and you make the decision which I you and I both and many other Fighters have made the decision to fight despite
2:16
what is going on whether it's injury health emotional like whatever it is
2:21
we've made the decision to fight and then like once you fight you can't say
2:28
like you can't use you can't you can't legitimately nobody wants to hear it
2:33
even though it's completely valid yeah and it is completely like yeah it is
2:39
it's reality but but you can never talk about it unless you win ever if you win
2:46
you could talk about it and everyone calls you a hero like Dan Gable or something wasn't it Dan Gable who like
2:52
broke his leg and then wrestled and got a Olympic gold medal or a belt or
2:58
whatever yeah um it's only applauded when you win and
3:04
when you lose you look like you're making excuses yes um even when I have won those fights I
3:11
still haven't said it and I mean I have I mean I could have I guess you should have but
3:17
I just felt like yeah she's just like Dan Gable she she won that fight with
3:23
one knee yeah I missed my moment yeah what happened what's wrong with you I
3:29
know maybe it's a gender thing but because I feel like a lot of times well I guess both genders have this but a lot
3:36
of times we feel pressure not to complain and I think for guys it's like
3:41
oh it's a manly thing if you don't complain but for women it's like oh you're a little [ __ ] like oh just like
3:48
women to make excuses so we're fighting against a stereotype as well so maybe
3:54
it's just a fighter thing we try to be tougher than than you know than a human
3:59
is and we're all human so that part sucks but you know luckily cry love
4:06
didn't have to fight with his foodborne illness he had the the foresight to not
4:12
fight and not like that not check the poop yourself but because that very well
4:18
could have happened too it could have um yeah he could have uh barfed or
4:26
crapped or like like who knows what what could have happened you know that's
4:31
that's an awful thing to have to fight through even just you know I mean people don't even get up and go to an office
4:37
job when they have a foodborne illness yeah you know look at this poor guy crap get in a fight yeah someone who's been
4:44
watching tape on you no thank you so I
4:49
admire that I admire that because there's so many times where probably shouldn't have taken a fight you know
4:56
myself or or other people and they've paid the price for it um so I you know I salute him for
5:03
standing up for himself your health is most important live to find another day so I I think that's great and I think
5:08
more you know Fighters should you know stand up and say like hey I'm not well
5:14
it's you know we deserve to get to fight at 100 or as close to it as possible because nobody goes in at 100 ever
5:22
um so I think it's really you know Brave and admirable and I think it's happening a little more often now I've been I've
5:29
definitely noticed that yeah um maybe with better pay maybe people are actually able to afford to not fight
5:37
that time when before it was like okay this is all the money you could possibly
5:42
make in a year and it's not that much so you gotta show up you know like it's life or death or you know paying rent or
5:50
not paying rent like that's a big difference there um but yeah yeah we all have we all
5:57
started off making [ __ ] what did uh what did you make for your
6:02
first fight um I think it was was it three and three
6:10
I think it was three and three I was pretty happy with it though it was supposed to be five and five but I need to pay my opponent part of my purse to
6:17
show up because I was at a time constraint and no one wanted to fight me because I had
6:23
um uh 16-0 Muay Thai record but no amateur MMA records so people didn't
6:30
really know what to expect so it was hard for me to get my first foot in the door sure so yeah it was
6:36
three and three nice what about you uh 400 to show 200 to win and then I got a
6:43
200 bonus for submission 800 hey and I got a free trip to uh
6:50
Evansville Indiana in November nice so you made more than me but you lost
6:56
your soul by going to Indiana in November it was really cold oh my God
7:03
that was a wee little 105 Rebecca dude I feel like your bones would have snapped there were half just walking off of the
7:10
plane yeah there was I think the worst it was for me was I was fighting at the
7:16
Dakota Magic it was on the border of North and South Dakota and um I was fighting at 105 pounds and I
7:24
back then I was you know pretty small but I didn't know how to cut water weight I the whole idea of water weight
7:30
like really scared me and I didn't you know I just didn't understand it so I would I would diet like
7:36
all the way down and um yeah I was I was freezing yeah like I
7:42
could not step foot outside my uh my team had to go get the car turn the car
7:48
heater on because you know you have to walk like all the way to the parking lot you're probably in the back I mean we left we left a cup of water in the car
7:56
you know just for a very short amount of time came back and it was frozen no it
8:01
was it was so cold oh my God there is nothing um that I missed less about living in
8:10
New York than cutting weight I fought a couple times at 105 too and cutting
8:16
weight and riding the Subway on those hard ass seats with no meat on your
8:23
tailbone like that is the worst it literally a 15 minute subway ride feels
8:28
like an hour because you feel every shake and bump on the subway I usually
8:34
would work a shift before I go to weigh-ins so I just I don't know I was Damascus I was just like ah it's fine
8:41
I'll just busy my mind with work and watching people eat and that that's the
8:48
worst it was great yeah but for some reason it worked for me but that subway ride was the worst I could just fill
8:54
every bone Shake in my body because that's literally all I was was bones yeah [Music]
9:01
we kept joking that I should have brought one of those hernia pads so I could ride that on the subway and not be
9:08
uncomfortable I mean it would have been a bad idea yeah yeah you know definitely ugh for a little thing so it was a
9:16
little skinny bony ass Angela we would have been great friends bony Jess and
9:21
boneyange the perfect duet just like now we just couldn't hug each
9:27
other because you probably cut each other open
9:32
oh god um but yeah so you get to come in at the
9:38
Hefty 115 pound limit this time yes so that's always a privilege and uh let's talk
9:46
about fight Camp a little bit like how's it gone are you sick of it do you love it are you at least a little more
9:53
comfortable having time to prepare this time because last time you were flirting with the uh you know the short notice
10:01
thing and then it just wasn't meant to be safe it was not meant to be yeah maybe another time we'll revisit it yeah
10:09
um it's on your bingo list yeah I mean I've taken a really short notice fight
10:14
before oh tell me yes seven days seven days notice and I went and fought shoot boxing in Japan oh that's sick though I
10:21
remember you told me about that most incredible fight experience favorite fight memory of all time awesome so you
10:28
do have good short notice fight memories yeah I've actually when I would um you know when when I was coming up like
10:35
some fights would just you know pop up and happen but you know it's just it's different it was way way back when when
10:41
I was you know a young young lady just Young and Crazy Little Daredevil I do
10:48
feel like the older I get the less eager I am to jump into crazy situations like
10:54
I understand the risk a little too much yeah
11:00
like I remember um when I first visited you actually in
11:05
California we went to a BJ class and I
11:10
picked the biggest guy in the room and was just like having a crazy grapple grapple fest with them like just
11:17
scramble all over the place and afterwards I like look at June was like ah you're like you're [ __ ] crazy what
11:23
is your issue and I'm like what was she talking about but now I know like no because you still do it because I
11:30
remember like months ago when we were getting ready for the first time I was supposed to fight Richie on short notice
11:35
we go into steel to spar Muay Thai on like a Tuesday night and she picked like this hundred and like 80 90 pound like
11:43
big dude that does not look like he knows how to like go light with women did I Inspire him you started to and
11:50
then Adam came and got you I was like I like gave him I was like well now I don't fight Adam when he tells me
11:58
to think ghost shadow box oh my God I was like why are you picking out these large
12:04
humans sometimes they're easier than the girls
12:09
as long as you use it as long as their mom raised them right I guess but geez
12:15
you just gotta poke the bear and then run away
12:20
getting tired and he can kick him in the butt yeah yeah I like fighting in the
12:25
pocket way too much so yeah that's just it's never been for me yeah you don't go fire for fire with those guys you go you
12:32
go fake fire watch on fire and then pretty much practice running the whole time yeah exactly ah you can't catch me
12:43
cardio session if you do then It usually sucks but um yeah so how are you feeling
12:48
no I'm feeling really good um I feel like I got to like this
12:54
different level in this Camp it's really kind of hard to explain but I just I feel feel good I feel well prepared I
13:01
feel um like very in the zone nice yes good yeah very good yes you look very Zen
13:09
right now talking about how Zane you are so thank you I believe it
13:16
sometimes I don't but today I do
13:22
um yeah we we got to really focus on some things and yeah it might have been
13:28
a blessing in disguise just being able to take a step back because Richie is a is a good opponent
13:34
um is there anything that you'd want to say to like the viewers or whatever to
13:40
get them pumped up about this fight like I don't know you know how people
13:45
talk up their Fates and they're like it's gonna be a blood bath you know
13:52
it's gonna be a test of skill right skill I think that this is uh you know
13:59
potentially a really fun matchup um I think that you know it takes two to
14:04
tango so I I hope that she is as eager you know to compete as I am
14:10
um I think I see some you know some great opportunities to capitalize on so
14:16
I'm I'm excited to see where it goes I don't really like going in with a set game plan I mean we talked about this
14:22
previously I've never really gone in with the game plan because I feel like sometimes I will like stick to that way
14:28
too much so I like going in with an idea of like Tendencies things to
14:34
kind of watch out for things to be aware of counters to those kind of situations but I like having kind of like
14:42
the freedom yeah because I think regular you know sparring or training can be so
14:49
like what's the right word restrictive or constricting or whatever where the
14:54
[ __ ] word is I'm low on carbs leave me alone yeah you know what I mean I like that
15:00
word but I just um I like to feel free inside there and I like to you know see
15:05
where where my body wants to go see what it wants to do you know I've I've been training for a long time and
15:11
um sometimes like my my body will surprise me and I'll you know be in situations and I'll do something that I
15:18
was like usually written like that yeah I was like where did this come from yeah yeah it looks like that or something
15:23
like that it's happening um but yeah my body does what it wants to do hey so I just you know I Gotta
15:29
Give it the freedom to do as it wants it has a mind of its own it really does I always said that you're
15:36
you should like you don't have a nickname which is weird freaking freak I don't need one but I always said that
15:43
your nickname should have been something like octopussy don't make that don't make that a thing I think it's not a
15:50
nickname because your limbs just come from anywhere and you just attack your
15:57
opponent's like little tentacle monster have you ever seen some of my earlier
16:02
fights yeah they're like I make it funky and I think that that's um something
16:07
that I was having an issue with going up to straw weight and competing against bigger girls because I felt like I couldn't do that because it just
16:14
wouldn't present itself or they were too big too strong because I still feel myself as like an atom weight or an
16:19
undersized straw weight that's how I don't know I just I haven't been able to really get past it even though I know
16:25
I'm bigger and stronger and faster shut up but I just I still feel like I feel
16:32
like a little out of weight a little baby yes little bony Jess is in there screaming yes
16:39
so it's um it's it's been interesting especially since I haven't you know been able to compete very consistently in the
16:46
past few years I really haven't um or hadn't really found my my stride
16:52
my rhythm and I think I'm you know at a point where I'm more comfortable at straw weight more comfortable
16:59
um with you know what I what I can do or what I want to do inside the Octagon yeah it's almost
17:06
like uh get them put in one of those mechs right when you when you move up in
17:12
await class um because like I said I used to fight at 105 too and for the longest I would
17:19
just walk at 120 fight at 115. like that was it was just the way that my
17:24
metabolism worked and I just was like well [ __ ] it I'm never gonna get bigger um and then once you finally settle into
17:31
like a slightly bigger body you still feel like you're this tiny person yeah working working your body even though
17:38
you do have the size and you do have like the leverage and stuff that you wouldn't have had when you were like a
17:44
little bony thing sure so it's uh it's nice to see you kind of um fall into
17:49
that and realize oh I can't move people I can't hit someone with my [ __ ] hamstring and it actually does something
17:56
like it'll move them and then I can snake in my little foot and do my octopussy thing and I don't have to
18:02
worry about just getting smashed so so that's kind of cool to see that uh that
18:07
transition and it sucks because you have unfortunately not been able to get in there that often as a straw weight but
18:14
now you're gonna get to fight next week you're gonna get to show off your skills
18:19
and show like man you got some you got some [ __ ] for these girls so yeah I'm excited for you I'm excited too yay so a
18:27
lot of fights happened since we last met um I mean it's only been two weeks but
18:32
there's been a lot of [ __ ] going on a lot has happened yeah is there one you want to start with
18:38
um I think we can start with uh Vegas 69
18:43
uh on dry I know I know
18:49
um should we leave it for the exclusive ah we can if you want to no no no let's
18:56
start with that one of my only fans whatever hey I mean we can't put it on yours but we can put
19:01
it on mine we could put it on all of them oh so we had just gone Raj versus uh Aaron
19:09
blanchfield yeah uh stepping up as the main event because the previous Main
19:15
Event fell through and the whole card was kind of like having a lot of trouble sticking together what was the previous main event do you remember
19:23
don't put me on the spot ah [ __ ] well I'm I don't remember
19:28
um it was I thought it was some big guys I think I could probably uh pull up that little graphic thing but that was I I
19:35
mean I thought it was originally that so that's that's information for me no so Jessica ended up stepping in like on a
19:43
week notice okay Talia said oh it was Marlon Vera versus Corey sandhagen yeah I'm assuming
19:49
that was the main that was the main event and then Aaron was supposed to fight uh Talia Santos yes yeah
19:56
um which was you know gonna be an exciting matchup but whatever happened happened Jessica Jones
20:01
steps in and she took it about on a week notice and I was I thought it would make
20:07
for an interesting matchup however I wasn't sure what shape Jessica would show it show up in and she was having
20:15
some trouble in the first round finding you know her range blanchfield was using really good straight punches one twos
20:21
and really keeping her at distance but Jessica was starting to kind of work her way in and then in the second round
20:26
Aaron took her down passed to side control then took her back and choked her out really fast and I really was not
20:33
expecting that to happen like that I could have seen maybe you know it going
20:38
into the later rounds because she wasn't in shape and you know all these other
20:43
you know factors kind of worked in um I know that some people have said that you know oh just because uh 115 or
20:49
no she fought at bantamweight yeah she's ever she's she has a little box of
20:55
muscle that will show up at whatever weight you want and she can be yeah and
21:01
she can well I was just gonna say and she's ranked number two in flyweight yeah so
21:09
don't don't give me so you can't you can't downplay her if there's no one better than her at Flyway she's a
21:16
strolling you know like no stop stop it and she was I mean she was like kind of
21:22
50 50. I forget what the term is but she's kind of 50 50 at bantamweight she
21:28
was undersized but she still had success but it was you know kind of hit or miss with her yeah the size was an issue at
21:35
bandwidth I think at FlyAway uh her tenacity and the fact that she isn't
21:40
super undecised she can kind of use her shortness like a little Mike Tyson and use it to get in use it to get to that
21:47
uncomfortable range where you can't really you can't really punch the shorter person without your punches
21:53
getting crushed yeah uh she does that really well at flyweight um so I was really impressed with
22:00
Blanche Philly despite the fact that uh and Rod showed up on a week's notice
22:06
she still looked pretty sharp she didn't look like her cardio was fading her at all when the fight finally got stopped
22:12
in the second round like if anything if it had gone five rounds and maybe you'd see that but it didn't start affecting
22:19
her yet yeah so the first round was bananas yeah like like you were saying the straight punches were getting her
22:25
but she was throwing too like it was it was kind of a Rock'em sock'em robot kind
22:30
of first round yeah where they were both eating a lot but it looked like androd was eating a bit more so it definitely
22:37
did that was the big question mark in my head for Aaron blanchfield is what does her striking look like because she
22:43
usually takes people down too fast to actually see what it looks like yeah and
22:49
um in this fight she proved hey I could stand on the feet I cannot take too much damage and give my own while I'm setting
22:57
up that takedown no she looked she looked really good we didn't get to see you know too much of it in her last time
23:02
out with with Molly yeah so it was definitely like up until this point it was a question mark for me literally
23:09
with Molly it was like Bell rung shot you know she made a gloved tap first
23:14
yeah but the shot came before any punches were thrown so we had no idea
23:20
after that fight and um and then do you want to mention we have to we have to okay so what so
23:29
right after the fight um Jessica and George mentioned that she you know gave
23:35
up the takedown because she was so distracted because her sports bra slipped down but I was like you know
23:40
what I know what that material looks like it feels like I was like it's so high I don't know if it would slip down
23:46
but I did watch it in slow motion and there is a moment where it actually slips up it slips and I saw it under
23:53
boob yeah I saw complete underboob by the time she hit the canvas it was down but I understand how that could be a
24:00
little bit distracting just a little bit it um and then I'm
24:06
totally gonna get distracted but I remember Leslie Smith in Invicta yes she
24:12
wore a Lululemon sports bra which has no business being in any kind of combat or competitive sport or anything other than
24:19
like maybe doing yoga and taking cute pictures it says low impact it says it on minimal I have that bra
24:27
and I was like girl I remember thinking backstage I was like why are you wearing that bra I would never wear that yeah it says low impact on the label anyways her
24:35
bra her bra came completely up but it did not stop her she was still she was
24:40
still throwing those freaking Haymakers at her opponent and um I remember the
24:46
commentary desk it was like right in front of them they're like oh my the best part about Leslie Smith's
24:53
little boob moment was that she wasn't the person against defense no she was
24:59
the person pushing the girl against the fence so at any point she could have backed off and pulled her bra yeah but
25:04
she did not she was like nope nope you're gonna look at these titties as I'm [ __ ] you up and there's nothing
25:10
you can do about it that is a salute to Leslie Smith that is
25:16
like what a stud that is the most G thing she's done aside from having her
25:21
ears split open and begging to continue to fight like that she she is crazy like
25:28
legit crazy legitagy um so yeah it does for most people
25:33
though who aren't Leslie Smith it will give you a second to pause like
25:38
I I talked about that moment where I got yelled at uh for grabbing the cage and it made me pause and then I was like oh
25:45
[ __ ] I'm getting choked you know so they're they're little brief moments like that in the fight feel like
25:53
minutes you know like a second will feel like a full minute of you just going my
25:59
boob oh no I'm going down and I totally get why that was like a big moment in
26:05
her head even though on the replay it's literally a millisecond that it kind of pops out and then goes back in yeah so I
26:11
get why she would say that but her boob being out didn't cause her to get her guard passed didn't cause her to
26:18
give up her back and didn't cause her to get choked out so we can't take that away from blanchfield either no you know
26:24
maybe you maybe it would have taken her a little longer to get the takedown maybe would have taken her an extra step
26:30
she hit a really nice inside trip maybe she would have had to hit a second inside trip if uh indrad wasn't
26:37
distracted or a hip bump or something like that but it you can tell that the
26:43
takedown eventually probably would have happened and after the takedown happened
26:49
everything else was with boobin yeah so yeah but I get it I get why you would
26:54
mention that because it's a thing that happens and little moments like that can sway
27:00
they can change the course of the fight they really can you just you never know and the question mark is the thing that
27:06
frustrates a fighter the most when they're on the losing end is like what if what if that thing didn't happen
27:11
absolutely um another person had a boob moment
27:17
um and I might be jumping ahead but Tatiana Suarez had made a big comeback
27:22
she fought a 125 versus uh um what is her name Monta LaRosa uh
27:28
Montana LaRosa Montana LaRosa I like Montella Rosa better that was very
27:34
fantastic I had to process that for a second I was like oh I actually first name I was like
27:40
that's so cool I don't think that's really cool I just mashed their names together it was like what's her first
27:46
name you know that girl uh something Angela
27:53
um Montana De la Rosa she had a similar moment where her boob popped out and it
28:01
was while she was fighting off like a takedown or something she was up against the fence and Suarez was underneath her
28:09
chest and kind of pushing the boob up and she complained that that might have
28:15
had something to do with her performance um so yeah it's it's a thing that people
28:21
are going to now um listen I bought I don't know I get how it can be a thing but honestly I've
28:27
like that reason I have always worn two sports bras yeah always yeah because I
28:34
don't I don't want to have to worry about that and so I you know I would invite you know anyone moving forward
28:42
who has to wear a sports bra while they compete double it up where to and I hate that
28:48
restriction on the chest so I get a size bigger like two size bigger because it is that sports bra is so uncomfortable
28:55
and I'm maybe that's why it was so loose on Android or like loose on the other girls is because it is so uncomfortable
29:01
it's not an actual sports bra it like restricts like you from breathing your
29:07
rib cage cannot cannot move so I get like two sides bigger I wear like a size
29:12
extra large or something like yeah size large and I am a small oh but I yeah
29:18
it's just they're so uncomfortable yeah I hate wearing sports bras um I'll I'll bring pasties
29:25
I usually never wear them because I'll try on the bra and I'm like okay I don't think this is I don't think I need to
29:31
worry about it but every now and then they change the design like when they went from Reebok to Venom a few times
29:37
during the Reebok era they would change the the um the elastic on there so I always
29:43
brought pasties just in case yeah um but when I don't wear anything underneath
29:49
I'm like all right and I know this could happen don't don't Flinch you know if it
29:56
happens protect yourself and protect yourself at all times and then put your boob away and hope and pray that the
30:03
censored people get in there in time yeah I just blow that thing up play that
30:08
sucker out I don't care the people in the arena see I don't care if uh my opponent ends up accidentally sucking on
30:14
a tit you know like I don't care I don't care I just as long as I can breathe I'm
30:20
good so you kind of have to make that uh you kind of have to realize that going in there like if you're not gonna double
30:27
up you got to be prepared for a little lewd action it's a possibility yeah guys
30:32
have to deal with it too Ball's hanging out yeah it's a the guys who wear the short
30:38
shorts your ball can slip right out of there especially if you wear the short short
30:43
um there were cups that cradle them yeah but you both could still slip out some guys don't fight in a cup
30:51
really yeah they say you were in a cup and they go and they tap their uh
30:57
they're not pelvic bones what is this yeah what's right there they'll be like yep and then they send
31:04
them in there interesting yeah I think it's more Jiu Jitsu guys on than anything I was gonna say I'm pretty sure
31:10
you have to wear a cup in no and I know at least a handful of guys I can't remember exactly or maybe a soft cup or
31:18
something like that yeah no I know people who don't fight in cups they're crazy that's wild they're insane that's
31:24
wild I think it's stupid the way I see people react when they do wear a cup and they get their balls kicked dude fights
31:30
have been stopped yeah fights have been stopped yeah because they cannot recover
31:36
from that yeah and imagine you get kicked in the nuts and then you're not falls out of your pants
31:44
they can't find it I don't know we're off the rails just
31:50
rolls away like a freaking marble is that how it works oh God wasn't there a fight where a guy's eyeball fell out I
31:57
think he had a glass eye no I've seen the video before stop it it was it was
32:03
one of these like Cali cage Wars like chicken coop fights where a guy had a glass eyeball and it rolled out I was
32:09
like what commission would distinction that fight license what there was no commission okay there was a guy with a
32:17
striped shirt on he said fight and that's it that was the
32:22
commission you got it from the Halloween section oh God ugh but yeah so
32:28
um back to UFC 69 that was a really impressive win for Aaron blanchfield
32:35
um who do you think she gets next um maybe one more and then a title shot
32:41
maybe like maybe Talia yeah I mean I think that that should be an elimination if I think that's what it probably was
32:49
initially um I went over and drawed is is huge so I mean I could see them giving her
32:57
one more fight or pushing her forward after you know after this one um after 285 my card when Valentina
33:04
takes on Alexa Grosso yeah so I could see you know that happening yeah
33:10
interesting stuff um any other fights from that card jump out on you no I think we can fast
33:17
forward I just you know I like covering the girls yeah let me let me just check
33:22
um yes I am also good for fast forwarding so let's do that
33:28
I mean we did mention Tatiana Suarez and her comeback fight briefly but we didn't
33:34
talk about you know what kind of a big deal it is that um you know these UFC made it coming back because she was out
33:41
for what near uh three years three years yeah three years uh with back-to-back
33:46
injuries she had to pull out of her last fight like right before she was supposed to fight because of it ACL tear I
33:53
believe it was so I mean she's just she's had a lot of injuries a lot of setbacks uh health
34:00
issues mostly and it's you know it was exciting that you know the Ultimate Fighter winner
34:06
you know could come back and perform well she came back at 125 pounds and you
34:12
know also made the statement that she would like to go back down to 115. I personally think that she's a 125er I
34:18
think she's well sized uh but I did see you know I I do know that Montana is actually like a pretty good sized 125 or
34:26
she cuts a lot of weight so I think it would maybe be a little bit more of an adjustment for her to stay at 125 than
34:32
she's wanting to make and I think maybe it's just easier to cut the weight and go down to 115. yeah
34:38
yeah I mean you go you get the former Adam weight well I I S I understand I feel like you
34:46
understand more so because of that yeah yeah I do
34:51
um but if I could go back down to 120 or 105 I would I would suck all that weight
34:57
because I feel that I am bigger stronger faster and you know better and I have
35:03
better utilization of my skills at 105 whereas I'm going up a weight class to 115 and I'm competing against people who
35:09
are you know sometimes 125ers and they're sucking a lot of weight to get down at 115 because they want that Advantage so I I would love to have that
35:16
Advantage I understand why people cut so much weight because it does make a difference yeah but when you're riddled
35:22
with injuries then it can do more harm than good for sure uh cutting that
35:28
weight like uh we've seen with uh a lot of people most of the cast of uh of our
35:35
tough that are still active are at 125. yeah so a lot of those girls they either
35:42
hit like a growth spurt or you put on a certain amount of muscle or you just body gets tired of cutting that weight
35:49
and it lashes out in different ways so it could be during hard training during
35:54
fight Camp when your body's at your most brittle when you're trying to cut that weight you don't have the cushion you
36:00
don't have the extra like meat anger or the extra muscle in your body to support your ACL to support your ligaments to
36:07
support like you know your your rib cage and [ __ ] like I feel like a lot of random injuries happen when you cut too
36:15
much weight for sure so I do think that she'd probably be healthier at 125 but
36:22
she has to make that journey to figure it out and hopefully
36:28
when she does make that Journey it doesn't lead her to another huge long layoff because those injuries are a big
36:35
deal like I think the first one was her back it was her back her neck I think it was her neck yeah like similar to algel
36:42
and then the next one was her ACL um you know uh she's she's probably the
36:48
most resilient mentally person uh you know with her backstory just because you
36:54
know uh coming back from cancer to being a wrestler there's a there's a lot that she's overcome
37:00
um so I get the I get that she feels like she can do it I'm just hoping that you know knock on wood it doesn't lead
37:08
to more injuries because that's the pattern that we've seen with a lot of people who cut a lot of weight and she's not small no like she's no she's a good
37:15
size yeah she's a she's good she looks Hefty yeah she looks Hefty but you know
37:22
I I also feel like there's a lot of huge huge straw weights out there that are still doing well so you know maybe maybe
37:29
that's uh what she's gonna have to figure out for herself for sure but also
37:35
the flyweight weight class is a much shorter ladder to climb and it's crazy because I feel like flyweight is just
37:42
such um it should be a deeper weight class than what it is because it's
37:48
I don't know it's like the size of normal females yeah no I get you like
37:54
when you see a bantamweight in person she looks like an Amazon yeah usually because they're they're so big and then
38:01
they cut down to 135 but they also have like zero percent body fat so think of
38:06
any woman that you know is zero percent fat body fat they're usually on the smaller side
38:12
um but these women are 135. uh if I could fight at 125 I would love to
38:19
because I feel like it's it's just easier to be competitive the for
38:24
whatever reason maybe because they were the last weight class to be brought into the UFC the talent pool isn't as deep so
38:32
if you're exceptional at 125 you shoot right to the top of the list I mean that case in point is Alexa Grosso who is you
38:40
know fighting um Valentino shevchenko on my card yeah
38:45
exactly it's my card it's not their card it's it's your card you're everyone's coming to see you
38:51
[Music] but yeah I mean I mean that that's a perfect example of it and another
38:58
example of somebody who was you know forcing themselves to try and be at 115
39:04
and their body didn't want to be there anymore and luckily she you know didn't stay in that space of trying to like
39:10
make it work for too long although she she did Miss weight she did have some you know difficulties but she went up to
39:17
125 and it's you know one or two fights and she's in title contention it's just
39:24
that's how it is in that weight class it's a little bit shorter of a road but I mean there are other you know other
39:30
challenges with it but it is a little bit faster of a track yeah to
39:36
get to the title yeah and now that we've seen um shipchenko actually have some
39:42
uh uh you know have some pushback in there she's not just smashing people it
39:49
definitely seems like uh more achievable version of getting that belt than 115
39:56
just because of all the people you have to take out on the way to the top yeah so
40:01
we see you Tatiana but maybe stay up there because we don't want to deal with you
40:08
just saying maybe it'll be better for you [Applause]
40:16
um we have some other fights on that but that was that was kind of my main event right there
40:22
um Augusto Sakai did you watch that fight no I didn't either I thought maybe you did
40:28
um one fight that you did watch that I didn't watch but I'm gonna let you take it away is you watch the Jake Paul
40:34
versus don't get me started Tommy Fury but I have never been so like um
40:42
watching this fight I I was not emotionally invested in in anyone however when that fight started I was
40:49
like in it oh I was getting like really heated and frustrated dude I was
40:57
screaming at the screen ah nice I was and it's like um
41:03
I I appreciate and I can respect what Jake Paul has done for himself
41:08
he has you know had a lot of success in a you know kind of a short window and he
41:14
has you know created this like pathway for himself and he's had success I just
41:20
don't appreciate that he has done it on the backs of my fellow MMA comrades
41:26
um that's that's where I take issue with it but that's neither here nor there or we could we can get into it if we want
41:32
to but um the fight uh the fight itself so uh Jake Paul
41:37
fought in Saudi Arabia against Tommy Fury who is a
41:45
he doesn't have a crazy record what I mean by that is he
41:52
hasn't fought people that are super battle tested he has definitely paved
41:58
his way the way that you know certain people do in boxing or MMA he has had
42:05
you know careful matchups just like Jake Paul has so I feel like you know looking at it objectively it was a good fight
42:12
okay I saw some highlights you saw some
42:18
highlights I saw some highlights um I I only looked after he told me that
42:23
he lost yeah yeah you're better I'm better no I
42:29
like I get it I know for a fact that MMA fighters have good boxing and I refuse
42:36
to accept even though he's done it more than once I refuse to accept that
42:42
someone could just get off the couch and become a better fighter than someone who's been a lifelong MMA fighter and
42:49
has good hands like an Anderson Silva like I refuse to accept that so I get
42:54
that it was really hard for me to watch it happen and now I refuse to watch
43:00
unless he loses then you watch the playback
43:06
the playback the highlights so looking at it objectively like we have two
43:12
fighters that are kind of in the same position in their career um with you know who they fought what
43:19
caliber of Fighters they fought in the caliber of fighter that they are I thought that it was a good matchup it
43:25
was a competitive fight I definitely thought Fury won hands down but if you
43:31
listen to the commentary or you saw any of like the highlights in between rounds you'd be like oh my God there's yeah
43:37
Jake Paul totally won because I have never heard more of a bias commentary
43:44
in a fight oh my God it was just um it was really hard to listen to
43:50
and not you know just wonder what the scorecards were gonna read yeah I I feel like a lot of
43:58
people felt that way like from the comments that I was reading and stuff a lot of people were just like wow this
44:05
this guy is really reading from a script so it was um Ray Flores he was doing commentary I
44:12
believe it's the same guy that was doing commentary for the Anderson Silva fight when he fought Anderson Silva and I was
44:18
just listening to him and I was like oh my God what are you talking about and in this fight the same thing
44:23
um everything was just it just seemed very one-sided and I
44:29
worried that the judges would do the same yeah but they didn't they they got
44:36
it right in my opinion I am no like boxing judge I'm not like huge in the boxing world but
44:42
I believe they got it right yeah thankfully good I'm I'm happy about that
44:48
um the the problem that I have with watching a Jake Paul fight is that it
44:54
never looks nice you know like it never like looks clean
44:59
and and Technical and part of watching boxing is that these guys they usually
45:05
have at least 100 fights under the belt before they go pro and then you watch a Jake Paul fight and
45:11
you see that he didn't go through that like do through that process of of cleaning everything up learning how to
45:19
stay balanced learning footwork and and you know angle changes and everything like when you're watching a Jake Paul
45:25
fight it looks like you know he he knows a little bit how to box but that's it he doesn't look like a pro boxer so I think
45:32
that's where my disbelief comes from because I'm like he there's obviously places where Jake
45:41
Paul can be getting counted that he's not getting counted so that's why where I get the foil hat like when we were
45:48
watching the Anderson Silva fight and I'm like why isn't he hitting him you know and then that thing started
45:54
circulating with the script did you see that post I always sent it to him yeah I did yeah with the script and I didn't
46:01
believe that it was an actual thing that somebody found but it does illustrate how a lot of people felt the the fights
46:10
were actually going like these Jake Paul and his team say okay we're gonna pay you this much but this is what you have
46:17
to do and I wouldn't be surprised if that's how he got most of his wins up
46:22
until this point so I mean it does raise an eyebrow I don't I think that that was
46:27
fabricated or like I I immediately thought I was like oh maybe that's one of his manifestation papers yeah I don't
46:32
I don't think that it was real no but it's the reason that it exists is
46:37
because that's what is on most people's minds yeah most people think that his opponents are throwing the fights you
46:44
know um and uh it wouldn't be the first time it happened in history and if anyone a
46:49
prankster would be expected to do something like that sure so why if I'm
46:56
gonna watch pro wrestling I'm gonna watch pro wrestling I don't like pro wrestling sorry
47:02
like I can't I can't do it oh and I just can't sit down and watch it I would love to be one I'd love to be a pro wrestler
47:09
but I don't think I could ever watch my matches
47:15
I feel like if you watch like watching yourself I don't know Sing Act or
47:20
something just yeah it feels weird but um yeah just I I don't like being lied
47:26
to and that's how I feel when I watch a Jake Paul fight and in this fight at least
47:31
um in the highlights you can see him getting caught by uh by those counters
47:36
and combinations that I expected and they're still gonna throw when he would when Jake Paul would like over off
47:43
balance himself just like over commit to punches and stuff like that like he does he does have a lot of power but a lot of
47:50
times he doesn't know where to put it it's kind of like those 180 guys that I tried Aspire in this
47:56
like yeah you could you could hurt me but you gotta hit me first you know like I I wait I was waiting for someone to
48:03
kind of style on him and it hadn't happened and all the Jake Paul fights that I watched so
48:10
um in the highlights it did look like Tommy Fury had his number I didn't have a lot of Hope for him because his boxing
48:16
wreck uh the guys that he's fought were like 10 and a hundred
48:23
oh and nine stuff like that and I'm just like here we go again but hey this time
48:32
real boxing one yep and um immediately after the fight
48:39
uh Jake Paul was humble for a second oh
48:44
and then he was like yeah I'm definitely going to execute the rematch clause that
48:49
only he had so if if he won there was no rematch clause but if he lost there was
48:57
an immediate rematch clause so he is going to execute that okay as per his contract and then he uh
49:03
right after that followed up with saying that he felt flat because he was sick
49:10
for baby well now he knows you should pull out instead of showing up sick on fight
49:16
night because otherwise you don't talk about it now you sound like you're making excuses yes well
49:23
this feels like a good time to break and then we'll come back with our exclusive 15.
49:30
um you want to just talk more [ __ ] about Jake Paul
49:35
attractive yeah we're just getting sad about the
49:43
direction that humanity is going we'll see you in a sec
