[Music] and we're back with another episode of
0:06
two straws what up what up we're back with our
0:11
bi-weekly I know it's been a while it's been a few weeks it feels like longer
0:16
than it has just because it like it's yeah it feels like it's been a month I know you guys missed us yeah I know I
0:23
know they were fading for it they were feeding for a couple straws and they're drink to stir with not short
0:30
with or anything like that I mean we're talking about feelings
0:42
we get it we totally get it and we're here to oblige so there have been some
0:49
big cards yeah since we last talked yeah there was UFC 285 yes yes my card yes um
0:56
I lost we'll address that
1:02
it sucks like having a show and then having to come on and talk about things
1:09
no matter what happens like you always know you're gonna have to have that you know Circle back to what happened in the
1:16
fight but it's always kind of like do I have to it's like a assignment you know
1:22
like a book report it's like you know your kid gets caught like doing something funky at school and then you
1:28
have to sit them down and have the talk yeah we don't want to have this talk but we we gotta it's important it's part of
1:36
growth and healing and learning process exactly exactly so yes so anyone
1:42
avoiding the talk Jessica has to have the talk today so don't avoid that [ __ ] do the thing that
1:49
you have to do that you don't want to create a safe space vulnerability all
1:54
that stuff it's how we learn and how we grow exactly uncomfortable as it may be yeah and it's forces it maybe
2:01
[Laughter] it is what it is
2:07
um and then we had a not so big card in between and then we had UFC 286 which
2:13
was it was like medium big I mean I felt like it was pretty big but only the one fight
2:19
yeah that's fair you know like it didn't feel like extremely big I mean we just came from
2:25
watching Jon Jones and zero gone I know right in a huge heavyweight Clash there
2:31
was a lot of anticipation for that one there was a lot I feel like that like they kind of blew their wad pretty early
2:36
in the year though because like how are they gonna top that one what's next like what are you gonna I don't care I know
2:43
right I mean Connor isn't even in the testing pool right now so oh my God can we talk about
2:49
like what's this [ __ ] gonna get intestineful like he's not no no
2:54
International fight week for Connor fans sorry guys I know you already booked your tickets I'm making it no no I mean
3:01
he may be in the stands oh yeah he may be cheering cage side with uh Jake Gyllenhaal have we talked about that we
3:09
have to talk about that oh my God we have so much there's so much to talk about so let's uh maybe let's just start
3:15
with 285. let's start with 285. so
3:20
take it away um we can start with my fight I lost there there is again
3:30
no it's okay I laugh at myself conversation I've had it so many times no it's totally okay yeah you know I
3:37
mean the the thing that's challenging about fighting which you know I love this sport but the thing that's really
3:43
challenging about only getting to fight not very frequently only you know a
3:49
handful of times a year if that maybe a couple is that you can only learn from
3:55
that fight and you have a lot of time in between to figure out what worked what didn't work
4:01
the adjustments to make and that can be really challenging especially coming off of a loss because they're not quick to book you yeah you know and you just
4:08
thought so it's just like you kind of just gotta like sit in the waiting pool yeah it really does suck
4:15
and if they are quick to book you you should have uh you should think about it because
4:21
there might be a reason you know bring in to for someone else that they want
4:26
the same thing to happen to you with um I've been in that book too but it it
4:32
really is um tough going from A Loss to everyday
4:37
life I feel like the transition after when is a lot smoother like you you're
4:43
you have your fight you win you have like this kind of like celebratory week is like a birthday week
4:51
it is so much easier walking around and going to the grocery store if you got a black eye and stitches and you won yes
4:58
but it's a whole nother Vibe if you're walking around the grocery store the black guy after a loss yeah it doesn't
5:03
look like a battered woman don't look it please the Hat's pulled down oh it was it was
5:11
pulled down but I needed to get wine yeah I mean of course you gotta fill up that cup
5:19
many times you're like hey no makeup just like ah
5:26
like whatever ask me about it yeah I'll talk about it yes oh did you see my black eye yeah I
5:34
got this in a cage yeah I fight people in a cage the other girl yeah totally
5:39
she's dead yeah but
5:44
um yeah it's totally a different vibe it really is it's also it's also like yeah
5:51
it's just a little bit weird like time goes by a little bit more slowly yep
5:56
um yeah I feel like that happens after I win too but it's just weird because you have all this anticipation as well
6:03
especially in a long fight Camp which is why I swear by short nose fights because I'm like I feel weird for only a second
6:09
as opposed to and then it's like yeah it's gone as opposed to feeling weird for like four months you know getting
6:15
ready to fight a person but uh yeah is that start just like shut down you're
6:22
not training anymore you're not like focusing on a certain task anymore you
6:28
just kind of in this limbo of what do I do now yeah so that's always more harsh
6:34
when it's lost because you kind of think about like oh what could I have done if
6:39
I could go back what would like you know would it be different and all this stuff at least that's where my brain goes I
6:46
try not to let myself go there a lot because I feel like
6:51
that's that's the hardest and then that starts getting into this like cycle of just like really
6:58
un unhelpful unproductive thoughts like yes I want to learn and grow from the
7:03
experience but I I do my best to try and have as short of a memory as possible
7:09
goldfish brain Ted Lassa what By the Way season three are you starting to watch so excited I love the first episode I
7:16
saw it it was pretty good yes I'm like I need I need more though I need you to release the whole season so we can just
7:22
take the binge that [ __ ] yeah but it's probably better for us you know because I would be
7:27
snorting it up like everyone else wanted to store it up by two strokes episodes yes why lasso
7:35
checked it into my butt I need that feel good energy
7:43
uh for those of you guys who who don't know what she's talking about the fastest way to a a high sometimes is you
7:50
know when your nose shuts down you go up the butt yeah yeah especially when you want to stream
7:56
content totally put it in the blood stream [Laughter]
8:04
Conor McGregor doesn't know anything about that but High digress
8:10
um so let's talk about your fight for like two seconds okay uh how do you feel about it what are you thinking like uh
8:18
congrats to Tabitha by the way she's this really sweet girl really hard worker like you know she's a good
8:24
fighter um yeah she's she's an up-and-comer she brings a lot of tools and um excitement
8:32
to the cage for me this one this one is really frustrating because she showed up
8:37
and and I didn't and that's where I go into
8:42
you know trying not to think about Coulda Woulda you know all these things just walking
8:49
out I just knew that it was going to be a really rough night for me because
8:56
I just did not feel good and in those moments I
9:02
like I was stuck in first gear and I couldn't get out of it and that's the most frustrating because I'm fighting
9:09
someone who is really young and hungry and is going to bring the pace and if I
9:14
let her outpace me then I lose yeah and I was just like it's gonna be a rough one yeah and that was really hard
9:20
because like I can't call in sick I can't be like you know you know I'll do this later I'm like you
9:29
know today's today's not you know I don't not feeling it today now you still gotta walk out there you still gotta put
9:35
your big girl pants on and and do it and then deal with the consequences afterwards yeah
9:41
um well I think it was um when cowboy Cerrone fought Conor McGregor uh he
9:47
talked about just having that feeling of just not wanting to be there or just not
9:53
feeling like he had it in him that night you know like you might have had like an amazing Camp he might have felt
9:59
confident up until that night but some days you just wake up you're like [ __ ] and you know it happens to the best of
10:05
us yeah it is it is what it is it's um I hadn't felt like that walking out
10:12
to a fight before and it was really [ __ ] hard and I got you know normally I get emotional walking out you know
10:19
it's I'm really happy to be there I'm really excited but I got emotional for a completely different reason and that was
10:24
really hard um and that's just you know something that I get to learn and grow and reconcile from it's it's not fun and it
10:32
like really really hurts but you know it's it's all part of it's all part of
10:37
my growing process and yeah you know for sure it's uh it's the name of the game
10:43
you know like uh yeah it's just a hard one and and it's really uh I don't I don't it's hard to
10:51
compare that to anything you know just getting out there putting yourself out there and having to be on point on a day
10:59
where you might not feel like you're on point like that I I've when I talk to regular people I try to compare it to
11:07
showing up for a fight like getting ready for a break a big presentation or like a big interview where a lot rides
11:16
on this one thing that you do in your entire portfolio beforehand may have nothing to do with what happens that day
11:22
you know you have to cram all your energy all your skill into this one thing that you're doing and sometimes it
11:29
doesn't come off the way that you want it to and it's it's just like such a heartbreaking thing sometimes you know
11:34
it's like yeah yeah it's a tough one but yeah hey I got your back I got you back
11:41
rolling keep the positivity rolling um but despite right that um the card
11:48
was pretty insane uh there were a lot of finishes on the card we had the return
11:53
of Jon Jones um dude bro we actually shared a pretty cute
12:00
moment with Jon Jones and it was a feel-good moment it really was it was very Ted lassilex yes it was very nice
12:09
the hell did I just say I said Tad leso X Oh I thought you said like elastic X
12:17
I mean I knew what you were trying to you know I knew what you were trying to convey
12:22
Ted's gonna let it slide no we have to
12:30
I know we're gonna so I was like you know on on our you know promo videos we
12:37
do our little like snippet Clips I have to start putting like the the word like the subtitles because that's how I watch
12:42
TV right I can't watch without reading it you don't know what they're saying
12:47
exactly especially Ted lasso there's a lot of accents these accents are crazy
12:53
you and what this thing that you said we don't say that like some weird
12:59
colloquialism I don't know what you're talking about maybe if I read it I can kind of get it but I don't know what you
13:05
said um so yeah what I meant to say was Ted lasso-esque
13:12
got it but yes tell tell the John Jones Story
13:17
please so we were um we had just arrived and we were in our dressing room and Jon
13:24
Jones um you know walks through we had um a restroom and the usada and
13:30
commission testing rooms or like their little offices uh you know through the
13:36
locker room and so he went in he did his business and as he came out we're sitting on the mat and he you know says
13:43
what's up he comes over you know says a couple words and asks if he could give us a hug and I was like I need a hug it
13:51
was very sweet it was really sweet it was very like big brother like polar
13:57
bear hugs and since he's so much bigger now he is like he's got like he
14:03
encompassed us he died he got the bear hug down yeah like both of us at the
14:09
same time if you think about it we are the size like the two of us together are
14:14
maybe close to the size of one Jon Jones so I don't even think we make it I don't
14:21
I think we're off by about 20 pounds I think we need a bantamweight in there yeah we need just like
14:29
yeah two straws one feather a little cocktail but uh yeah it was a
14:37
really sweet moment um he left he as he left he said two queens I was like oh the spin-off
14:47
I thought that was really sweet it was just like hey welcome back um we're gonna warm up the cage for you
14:54
and he's like yeah let's get it so yeah you could tell he was happy to be back
14:59
like he was just like walking around like the [ __ ] King of the Court you know like every time I saw him
15:05
um backstage talking to the people who worked there and you have to think like he hasn't been in that environment in a
15:11
long time he's got a lot of catching up to do yeah it's got a lot of hands to shake lots of babies to kiss yeah you
15:17
know lots of people want on you know to get their their time yeah yes yes no he's definitely
15:24
um I feel like he's definitely more of a poster child for the UFC than than a Conor McGregor because he came up
15:33
before him but also like he's just always been that goat like he's never
15:39
lost he's defended his title so many times he came in super young too so I
15:45
think still the youngest Champion to to win in the UFC um and he just kind of is a staple in
15:53
the sport so the fact that he was always in the in the in the cut kind of saying
16:00
that he was going to come back but it never actually happened when he finally did I think everyone was just in awe of
16:06
the fact that it's happening like oh wow it's finally happening I wonder what's gonna happen I mean we've been talking
16:12
about it for so long yeah I just kind of I just assumed it was never gonna happen I think it's probably never gonna happen
16:18
yeah um but it happened and and
16:23
magnificent effect dude it was insane how he put away Cyril gone who was so
16:30
impressive he's so impressive he has starched so many Strikers has like uh
16:37
been on you know the good end of every decision except for the last one against
16:43
sanganu we knew the takedowns were probably gonna be like part of the game plan but when Jon Jones shot in and
16:51
Cyril gone it was like the easiest thing ever like he just went blue took him
16:58
down made him work a bed and then as he was getting up sunk in that guillotine it was just yeah it was
17:06
effortless as as a a huge heavyweight title fight could possibly be right uh just how we
17:13
imposed his his will his game plan on somebody who is who is you know
17:19
number two he's good he's really really talented he's he's so good he was number
17:26
one until that day yeah yeah it's so impressive that he was he was gone for
17:32
as long as he was he you know went through this transformation and it's he
17:38
came back better yeah he did not lose a beat he he gained some beat he gained
17:43
ground like how did you do that Mike yeah some beats all right so a lot of
17:49
people were making fun of his physique well including me I remember I was
17:56
guilty remember every time it showed up she was like have you seen you see it
18:01
I'm like why would they post that no it's like it's like when we're trying to
18:07
take a cute picture and it's we don't hit the angle right you know so you look more like like a
18:14
refrigerator instead of like a curvy Coke bottle like they set him up they
18:22
okay so there were a few pictures where they said John Joseph these photographers have they they are cold
18:29
blooded I have I have seen some of my pictures that they've sent me you know in the little app thing like oh the UFC
18:35
has sent you pictures and I look and I'm like why that one why why would you do that one out of all pictures yeah why is
18:43
the contrast so boosted what the [ __ ] is your problem what are you
18:48
trying to do filter where's the airbrush where is Paris me yes put a Paris on it
18:54
yeah get rid of that purple you know I don't want that pimple there why did you do that they did John Jones
19:01
dirty they did them dirty like those photos should not have seen the light of day it was like he looked good from
19:08
straight on but he hit the three-quarter of you and you can see the little poofa the little and not only that but he was
19:16
probably like in between breaths yeah he was relaxed and he had just gone from like a breath hold post we reflecting
19:24
really really hard and he relaxed and they took the picture yeah he was breathing out their dick it was like a
19:29
little belly breathe yeah so that that uh that photo was yeah
19:35
it was it was pretty bad it definitely um helped the Optics of Jon Jones not
19:41
being ready maybe maybe that let Sarah gone like let his guard down a bit
19:46
excuse me maybe that added to how quickly he was able to take him out of there I don't
19:53
know man I don't see him taking that so seriously you cannot rely on your your
19:59
opponent coming in out of shape especially at heavyweight like look at Derrick Lewis you know look at tattoo of
20:05
us look at um I feel like Derek what's the original not the best Roy Nelson oh
20:10
my God Big Country the original oh my God Ben Rothwell yes like those guys are
20:15
explosive as [ __ ] strong [ __ ] durable sturdy good ripping [ __ ] yay yes I can't
20:23
put Derek Lewis in that category though edges Derek Lewis can throw a head kick fifth round of fight you know like
20:30
that's I'm gonna leave it at that a jumping switch kick at that have you seen this jumping switch cake
20:38
it it's not like a jumping switch kick though that like a flyweight with them
20:43
yeah it's more like a skip it thank you yeah you're exaggerating just like I was
20:49
good skip it I never had one but that was good I was good my friend had one I
20:55
was like but it was it's like a skip it head kick but it was still good it's still fast
21:01
it's like when I try to do a flying knee
21:07
actually like you get up there you have the flexibility in the hips okay
21:12
um and then my ankles are like no wait where's the floor
21:18
gotta be ready for that floor when you jump up oh my gosh um so yeah Jon Jones looked amazing
21:25
um there are a few more fights on there but um Valentino shevchenko yo how the [ __ ] freaking Alexa Grosso what the hell
21:34
uh so I was really impressed with Alexa in the first round
21:39
um because she was putting it on her she was like stopping her with straight punches and then she had some really
21:45
good cage control but then after the first round uh shiv Chinko started getting a rhythm so I'm finding like you
21:52
know where to attack where to get the takedowns and stuff it should go to school in Grosso for the next two rounds
21:58
but then in the fourth she had this moment of Brilliance her
22:04
inner Corner they had seen in tape that shevchenko likes to throw to spin and things and they planned to take the back
22:11
well she had thrown it like a couple times in that fight I think the
22:17
I I don't remember how many times but I knew she threw it and she like she stuck it too yeah yeah she she she likes to
22:24
throw that spinning cake um when they circle out when they like disengage because you know they're gonna
22:30
come right back in and then spin kick comes out and it like it can freak you out from coming back in too hard because
22:36
you don't want to eat that so the liver it sucks it sucks so much that one hurts
22:41
um so she drew it out Valentina spun and she jumped on that back the timing was
22:47
perfect it was oh my gosh beautiful and what did you think about like how she
22:53
took the back because it was so fast from the span to Grasso jumping on the
22:59
back she got her arm under her neck immediately and sochenko didn't even
23:04
really fight the hands she didn't she didn't why
23:12
I mean they're sometimes there there are moments when somebody like snatch it
23:17
because she didn't it's not like she technically progressed she jumped on it
23:23
I'm on your back and I'm really naked choking you right yes because this is my one and only opportunity and I've got to
23:30
take it and I've got to put everything into it which she she had to when she did yeah and it was successful
23:37
and it's sometimes there's just these moments when you're like when somebody
23:42
does something that's a little bit unorthodox or kind of I don't know just not the way you're
23:49
used to being trained with that catches you off guard yeah it really really does and it can take you out of it for for
23:55
long enough to where like the other person can capitalize oh yeah fight the hands eyes
24:01
too late yeah and I mean it I remember it was up
24:06
it was more up on her face I thought I thought she thought that maybe she was getting out and maybe just the pressure
24:12
she couldn't she couldn't wear it anymore yeah yeah my theory is that because it she jumped
24:19
on her while she was in motion um she didn't prioritize fighting the
24:26
hands as much as bracing on the floor because as soon as she jumped on there
24:32
she was going face down into the floor and I think if she had like at least anticipated that this was a possibility
24:38
she would have gone straight to like you know grabbing or grabbing her arm trying
24:43
to fight the hands trying to like at least push the elbow up off of her face but it was a surprise like you said so
24:51
she's like ah ah and then that's when it sunk in and a lot of times like that
24:56
little millisecond is the difference between surviving and having to tap out
25:02
yeah it was it was really impressive it it's hard like I'm not emotionally vested in
25:09
either one but I I admire and respect both women and so it's like
25:14
seeing chefchenko lose that way it's like it's kind of hard you know she has this
25:20
like Mystique about her yes I thought that she lost a previous fight
25:27
but she does she has this like Mystique about her you know and then you have
25:32
Alexa Grosso who I'm like all right she kind of got this title shot kind of fast I'm not mad at it I I understand how she
25:41
got there and why she got there I think she deserves it but it's just like this this up-and-comer so there's also like oh man I kind of I kind of wanted to get
25:48
it but then I I want shipchanical to keep her Mystique in this like you know this like super hero kind of thing going
25:55
on but then like oh man wouldn't that be amazing story if Alexa Grosso won yeah you know it's just kind of conflicting
26:01
and like I would have been again not emotionally invested but bummed for the
26:06
story you know the the end of the story um and then also really excited for
26:13
whoever won so it's just like you you're bummed for Chef Django story I would be
26:18
bombed for like the end of her story you know losing the belt I would have been sad for Alexa you know losing
26:25
her opportunity her opportunity um but then also really excited for the
26:30
storyline of of both of them to win if that makes sense yeah well like we have a storyline now because there's a
26:37
possibility of a UFC Mexico City um they love that show because they have
26:42
like one of the biggest Arenas in the world and people come out they sell it out every time they go to Mexico City so
26:49
there's a possibility now because you have Alexa Grasso you have yeah Rodriguez and you have Brandon Moreno
26:54
who could all like easily headline a three title there is no way that that's going
27:02
to happen and there's not going to be another freaking Riot anytime so I've been a guest fighter in Monterey I've
27:08
been a guest fighter at Mexico City and every single time it is like damn near
27:13
terrifying yeah the amount of security that is necessary for Fighters just to
27:18
walk around more or less in Brazil you know I've never been to UFC in Brazil
27:25
but was anyone mugged in Mexico when you were there yes multiple this one just
27:32
one oh there's one but they they wouldn't let us walk around with our without an arms guard yeah and like
27:38
military escorts yeah it's insane it's definitely a thing like I I was
27:43
surprised I thought we were just trying to get through traffic the first time I fought in Mexico City but I'm like oh
27:49
they might kidnap me yeah that's a possibility oh okay I get
27:54
it now um but uh you know that passion is why
27:59
they go there because the fans are are like hyped to be there everything sells
28:06
out they sell all the all the bootleg t-shirts and the stands next to it you know like it it really is like a big
28:14
thing for the city when the UFC comes to town and uh even even last time I fought
28:19
in Mexico City I fought there twice we stayed at the same hotel and I got a
28:24
note from like or no I ran into one of the guys who were working there the
28:30
first time I was there years later like at least I think four or five years later and he
28:37
remembered me and he's like oh all of us Angela I remember when you came here last time I hope you enjoy your stay and
28:43
it's it's just you can tell that the people are really excited to have you there they really appreciate Fighters
28:49
and Mexico just has that like fighting Spirit uh like just years of history
28:54
with boxing and now MMA so I would be stoked to go to that card if that
29:01
happened because oh yeah it would be insane but you know if you're fighting there and you win you're not Mexican
29:09
bring an umbrella for the beers oh my God uh but I think that would be
29:16
insane and I think chefchenko is a down [ __ ] she would be down to go on
29:23
to enemy territory and snatch her belt back like that that's her vibe but I do
29:29
remember watching um re-watching the Santos versus versus
29:35
chefchenko fight and I saw some of the same mistakes she made in that fight in the Grasso one like little moments where
29:42
she would get a little frustrated and try to just like go for a big takedown and they're kind of those sacrifice
29:48
takedowns where if you aren't in the right exact spot you don't have the weight loaded properly then you end up
29:54
on your back and she ended up doing that like once or twice in the fight and it started um you know it started to feel
30:02
like she didn't address the issues from the Santos fight because maybe she didn't feel like she needed to she felt
30:09
like she passed that test already yeah she won the fight so she's not rematching her she's moving on to this
30:16
girl who's a boxer she has a submission but you know she probably dropped the girl first before and she I think she
30:22
dropped uh uh JoJo before she subbed her Grasso did so so I I definitely feel
30:29
like ship tanker was taking her ground game not too serious seriously and now that she doesn't have the belt anymore
30:35
she has that fire to really focus on that and get better and come back
30:40
stronger so I would I would love to see that rematch happen in Mexico City and
30:45
she's probably gonna get the rematch right she'll get it immediately yeah she must like such a dominant Champion
30:50
there's there's no way that they wouldn't I mean who I mean there are
30:56
there are girls in line but nobody I think could really like overstep that
31:02
opportunity and it's got to be in her contract too she's an immediate rematch that she loses the belt it must be it
31:08
must be um if not the fans would be livid um but I mean I think it's okay to jump
31:15
ahead to yossi 286 we had kind of a similar thing with Edwards versus Usman
31:22
man him getting that Hail Mary in the last round of their second fight the
31:28
last one that we saw and now we got to see Leon Edwards who did you think was gonna win before last night
31:34
I was interested to see the shape of Leon Edwards because
31:40
he fought an altitude he doesn't necessarily train an altitude the way Kamara Usman does so I was really
31:47
interested to see how much of a factor that could have been in the second fight and I I think he showed
31:54
that you know it it very well could have been you know something that really dragged him down if you don't live in
32:01
altitude and and train in altitude for a fight in altitude it is
32:07
it's taxing it sucks go back to my first Mexico City fight you know better than
32:12
anyone I was in the mud like it almost feels like uh one of those dreams where
32:19
you're fighting but you can't quite throw the punch it takes everything in your body just a
32:25
jab like that's what it feels like I've I've fought in altitude before but I got
32:30
there right before weigh-ins I weighed in and then I fought the next day I felt
32:36
okay I felt a little a little labored but nothing
32:42
compared to what I felt when I was a guest fighter in Mexico City and I woke up with him I like to use the restroom
32:48
and I thought I was gonna die oh no from the walk across the hotel room to the
32:55
restroom back to the bed I thought I was gonna die dead it happens it is insane it's weird
33:04
you feel like the sky is on your chest yeah like you can actually feel gravity
33:10
up there like beating down on you it is really it's really horrible it's like
33:15
how they say in on uh in the close in the uh planets closer to the sun your
33:22
weight is like tripled or a million times heavier I'd beat it like 10 000
33:27
pounds on Mercury or some [ __ ] that's what it feels like the closer I get to the altitude or to the universe what is
33:35
that thing called the out the thing that's on the outside of the ozone yeah the closer I get to that atmosphere or
33:43
something yeah ozone the heavier I feel so you can feel that coming down on your chest yeah like when
33:50
you when you first get to altitude and it's funny because you either do it the way that you did it when you fought you
33:57
come in you weigh in and then you fight the next day and you're good and you're good you like just miss it you're
34:03
getting on the plane you're like [ __ ] I'm tired you know I'm tired good thing I'm going home or you stay for at least
34:12
three weeks and you acclimate and that second week is [ __ ] but then third week you start to bottom out and then
34:18
you're ready to fight so yeah it's it's really rough if you don't know that
34:23
science yeah yeah that's a thing I'll be fine it might never matter and then
34:29
you're in the fight like [ __ ] no no it's real but lucky for Leon he was able to
34:35
overcome that and get that knockout in the fourth round and get a do-over and
34:40
from the second fight it really did seem like he had usman's number he really did
34:47
it was I I think it came down to to strategy what I saw at Usman do was he
34:53
he knows that he's a dominant wrestler yeah you know he knows that he can you know take him down and
35:00
and score and get a victory that way by holding him down but what I saw was Leon
35:06
was stuffing the takedowns making it hard and Usman wasn't making the adjustments to
35:13
just not wrestle yeah like every once in a while he would throw a punch on the break but he wasn't really
35:20
punching Landing to get in and then mixing it up he just kept going for the
35:26
takedown and I think they said that he was um what was it he only got three out of however many take down attempts wow
35:32
and that's that's unlike Usman Usman gets you he's gonna get you well the the
35:39
couple takedowns that he got looks really easy like he just got him effortlessly like I remember there was
35:45
like a single leg it was just like Bob dump like a like yeah but yeah there
35:51
wasn't he wasn't capitalizing with with punches and scoring so it just looks like he took him down and then Leon was
35:58
getting up really well even when Usman did get him down with ease he rustled back up and USANA wasn't
36:05
scoring off of it so I just I understand the scorecards I understand why they
36:12
would give it to Leon yeah um what did you think about the point
36:17
deduction ah I thought it was fair yeah I really
36:22
did I did I feel like they should have started him on the
36:29
ground without a point deduction I'm not sure I feel like maybe there should be a
36:34
choice like the if the if the fighter who was filed against thinks that they
36:41
could finish from that position and they don't want to go through taking them down again then they can say start me
36:47
underground or if if they just want the point deduction if they want to know I
36:53
won that round now I can make it a 10-8 then start on defeat
36:58
um Usman wanted both he was like hey why aren't we starting on the ground and I
37:04
don't think I this must be a new rule because we didn't see this until uh last
37:10
weekend where it was Davey Grant versus uh Rafael asankao and David Grant did
37:17
the same thing held the cage stop the takedown from happening some cow was like you know going for a Hail
37:23
Mary takedown like this is all I got and the takedown didn't happen took a point
37:28
from David Grant but then the sun Kyle ended up getting knocked out so or submitted sorry so um
37:36
yeah I feel like this must be a new rule like you the fence grab has to be
37:41
addressed immediately if it affects the fight but it's going to be a point deduction but you don't start on the
37:47
ground and I'm not sure if that's fair because some Fighters might prefer just starting on the ground without the point
37:52
deduction I mean I I get that I hear that I think I remember I'm pretty sure I remember
37:59
Herb Dean saying I I can't put you on the ground because I don't know where the takedown would have ended up do you
38:05
know what I'm saying yeah because it was it wasn't just one it was like hold on clock it was like trying to put a cat in
38:12
a bathtub like he was really like it would he he grabbed the fence a lot I'm
38:18
not mad at the the point deduction but I also understand that we don't know where he was gonna land yeah
38:25
so it's like how do you and that could complete like yes the fence grab could completely change the
38:31
course of a fight but so could putting somebody in a position that we don't know exactly how they would land yeah
38:37
but if you use all your energy to get them to the ground and that was like
38:42
your last bit of gas for that how distraught are you about the fact that
38:48
you have got it in front of them again no especially when this guy is like a better Striker than you you're like you
38:55
took everything in your power to get in and get on this leg and then they take that away
39:01
oh yeah no it's devastating it completely changes the course of the fight it you know mess with you mentally
39:07
physically emotionally like it's it's devastating I there's it's it's hard though to to pick what's what's right in
39:15
that situation I think the point was valid I just I understood that you can't
39:21
necessarily dick like pick exactly where he was gonna land yeah and that's that's a hard decision to make maybe taking the
39:29
point but starting them in that because in the same position a single leg Yeah I get that before that yeah and for that
39:36
but to put somebody on the ground is is hard if they weren't already there yeah
39:41
if we didn't see where he was going to land like if he didn't touch down and hit like just just even briefly I think
39:49
that's challenging but I am all for putting them in the same position that
39:55
the the foul happened uh if that makes sense and I wonder why they didn't
40:00
decide to do that no they didn't it seems like the easiest solution like okay yeah good point and then start back
40:06
on the leg you already used your energy to take them down and didn't happen so like you know ever It's All is fair no I
40:14
agree with you and I think that's what used to happen right like they used to start them back in that in that whatever
40:19
position they stop them in but I've seen it before I I just I haven't seen it in
40:25
a while I don't think I've seen like really awful fence grabs like
40:30
normally the refs are they'll catch it and bat the hand so that they let go and then they get you know taken down it's
40:37
usually caught but um so yeah I haven't seen this situation in in a while yeah this one uh was
40:45
definitely one that swayed swayed the fight because he was swinging
40:51
them like uh like a flag you know and Edwards just grabbed briefly but it
40:57
definitely kept them upright so oh yeah yeah um I'm trying to find the scorecard to
41:02
see what happened with that but uh one person scored a draw it was uh yeah it
41:10
was a draw and then two had it what was it 48 no wait must have been 49.47
41:17
47 48 49 47 okay I think that's what it was the two judges had at the same score
41:23
and then one headed to draw no 47 40. okay
41:29
oh here it is it was
41:35
oh no that's not all right
41:44
I hit the button oh no not the button I hit the button no I hit an ad and then I
41:51
hit uh these things the worst oh they're the worst okay here we go
41:56
okay one judge scored 48 46
42:02
Ben cartilage oh we know that guy another judge scored 48-46 uh Chrisley
42:09
and then the last one 47-47. um I kind of felt like 47 47 was the
42:16
most Fair score because of the point deduction I felt like Usman had two rounds
42:23
in the bag and I felt like that was a fair score but um these other judges
42:29
only gave Usman the round that he got the point deduction in didn't give them
42:34
the second they gave Usman yeah they only were Chris Lee gave Usman
42:41
the third round and actually wait how does this work
42:49
Ben cartilage gave Usman the oh okay mid cartilage gave Usman the
42:58
fourth round and that's it so cartilage and Chrisley both only gave
43:05
Usman one round I would give them two I I forget which round it was I thought
43:12
it was the second and third yeah at that second and third he Usman did his due
43:18
diligence was looking good and then Leanna Woods took it away in the last two yeah I gave Liam the First with all
43:24
those freaking left kicks my god dude oh my stomach just like ached for him ugh
43:37
that was payback for altitude you know you feel the same way oh my God altitude
43:44
basically feels like you got kicked in the liver God yeah he kicked him so many times I was like oof yeah he's trying to
43:51
take him down a notch for the rest of the fight yeah so that's really odd because I I did not see Usman winning
43:57
the fourth round but that was what big cartilage gave him yeah I didn't see that and neither of the judges gave
44:05
Usman the second round and I thought the second round I thought the second round Usman got it yeah and I think his
44:12
coaches did too so I get why people are saying like hey this man won that but I
44:18
also feel like if you don't count the fence grab if you don't count the point
44:24
deduction then it's Leon edwards's fight so maybe that's probably why Usman has
44:29
been very respectful because he felt like he lost three out of five rounds
44:36
um but there's definitely a case for a draw I feel like yeah I just think
44:43
I don't know I never even take draws into consideration an MMA because they're just they're like the the white
44:49
whale they're the Unicorn they're like they just don't happen even though they they honestly like could and should in a
44:55
lot of situations they just don't like they don't do that yeah you're not allowed
45:01
what's wrong with you Dave Dave latherby
45:07
what were you thinking how could you let that happen um so I see the case with that another
45:13
close fight on uh 286 was um fatori versus
45:19
how do you say it Geo dollars DLC
45:26
how do you say it I don't [ __ ] know I don't know either
45:31
uh the vittori fight that guy the Victoria fight it was super close though
45:37
so I'm not like mad at the split decision yeah I felt like it was a really hard fight to judge and could
45:45
have been a draw could have gone either way it is what it is what are your feelings on Marvel toy
45:53
personally or as a fighter personally whatevs I don't know him
46:01
personally but um as a fighter I think he's kind of
46:06
inconsistent like I I think that he does the same thing and sometimes he does it
46:12
better times than other um he reminds me of kind of like a a
46:19
cartoon character like a lovable Dopey cartoon character
46:27
I like him I think you would I think he's like yeah
46:33
like like you said a lovable cartoon character I think he's just like wears
46:38
every emotion on his sleeve yeah and it's really funny
46:43
no like I don't know I think I think I think it's adorable and the fact that he's
46:51
Italian just makes it even more of a stereotype and I love it I know
46:58
we use the hands a lot and sometimes he can't understand what they're saying but because they're not articulating
47:04
anything very well it's like an Italian Biff from uh
47:10
from uh uh [ __ ] time travel movie
47:18
[Laughter] the name of that movie uh back to PJ
47:23
yeah yes no he really don't even like a little bit like him yeah exactly so I I
47:30
really like him um any other fights you want to talk about yes but I think we should take a
47:35
break and come back for our exclusive contest so come on back y'all come on
47:41
back on Fight Pass community
