we're back with another episode of two straws what is up Angela what's up so we had
0:17
some some interesting fights over the weekend we had uh UFC Apex we had Strickland versus magamedoff yes another
0:24
magamoto a new magamet off another one a new one coming into the UFC for the
0:32
second time and his first main event on the second fight yeah you jump the line
0:37
yeah right and you know it was a little surprising and
0:42
in hindsight I think the matchmakers are like oh okay maybe that was a little too much too soon but it seems like they're
0:50
just desperate for that dark horse that's gonna pop out and actually give the middleweight champ something to
0:57
worry about so this was an interesting fight because it just showed how high
1:03
level Strickland is when you're gonna bring in somebody who is good he's a good fighter uh the new Maga Madoff but
1:10
just kind of looked like he was a little green a little wet behind the ears in this matchup well he's he started off
1:16
strong and I mean I it's a little bit deceiving because Strickland always has these like weird facial reactions to
1:22
when he's getting hit it's just like like I don't know it was like a deer in headlight but it's just it's a weird
1:28
reaction and so kind of in the first round uh mangamata really utilized those
1:33
straight kicks and and kept Strickland at range and I just kind of wondered I was like okay you know does he you know
1:40
is this going to be what the whole fight is like but no Strickland uh did what he
1:46
does really well he pressures people he overwhelms people he uses his job really really well and he he just made a dog
1:52
fight yeah it's like uh you know how people used to call it Justin gaichi the Homer Simpson of the weight class
1:59
Strickland is that to an extent where a Kill pressure you and just see what the best
2:07
you have is and while you're trying to hit them and keep them at range and and pressure forward yourself you actually
2:14
drain your gas tank so people get tired just trying to fight Strickland with their fight because he's just so
2:20
determined to pressure forward a block of his forehead use this little uh
2:25
chopping chopping blocks to get that distance and then start jabbing the [ __ ] out of people and that's what he does
2:31
every fight it's it's really weird but it works so there's there's definitely some invisible like uh uh juju going on
2:39
there when it comes to the way that Strickland fights I think when you're standing in front of them you really
2:44
feel that pressure you really feel the strength of his jab and just how like needally and annoying it is and it takes
2:53
a lot out of people and Strickland yeah he looked like he was in trouble until maybe halfway through the first round
2:59
and then you started to see magameta fade and I'm like oh well maybe he just maybe he's just like Unleashed
3:06
everything and he's gonna recharge come back a lot stronger he did not he was faded he was tired he
3:14
blew his Wad and yeah in the first half of the first round and that's that's a that's a tough thing to do oh especially
3:21
against someone like that someone who pressures someone who likes to be in a phone booth fight like you don't want to
3:28
gas out against that guy because they're not going away not at all it's um what you said about
3:33
the the energy the presence strictly he's kind of an unassuming guy but I
3:38
know that pressure and that feeling that you're talking about the first time as a young Fighter the first time I went in
3:44
there and fought or sorry sparred against like an established seasoned boxer in boxing I felt that presence
3:52
that energy and I was like oh yeah like oh this is this is uh this is something this is a
3:59
little bit overwhelming I don't like this feeling I want to go to the ground but I can't because I'm smart boxing so
4:05
it's just um yeah it's it's a really real thing and I feel like you hit it on the head where he just he really has
4:11
that that claustrophobia yeah attack like you don't realize you're claustrophobic until he's in front of
4:18
you like Talking Too Close
4:28
um I always think about the first time I sparred Wilson Hayes our buddy and he
4:34
has just that another level
4:39
just closeness you know like when you're when uh when I watch them do pads with
4:45
Adam still just in his face close as [ __ ] I was trying to back up he's like you
4:52
don't want to be this close to throw the punch he's like ah brother yes I do that
4:58
she gets a takedown you know so it's people who aren't
5:03
afraid to be in that boxing range that really close like even clinch range it's really hard for someone who relies on
5:11
their kicks and relies on their straight punches because it just gets crushed you you don't have your range anymore you're
5:18
just fighting to establish some kind of real estate in the cage and Strickland just takes it away yeah it was really
5:25
impressive and I don't want to like run away with like oh get him in a title
5:30
shot next because we actually didn't get to talk about uh the king and ear fight last time and that was a performance
5:39
like he was on point amazing he looked amazing yeah and and I almost want to
5:46
see them fight again even those kind of dull him and Strickland but it's amazing
5:52
to see what these guys can do against other people and it goes to show you why there's levels to this there's when
5:57
someone's stepping up there's a log Jam at the top of most of the weight classes where you just have these five three
6:05
four five talented people who any given day can win a fight against each other and it's really hard for new guys to
6:12
bust through that well I mean interesting that you say well not interesting but great setup to talk
6:18
about um an interesting bite match up with the the top kind of gatekeeper of the 185
6:24
division is Whitaker yeah Mr Bobby Knuckles is taking on uh duplicitous
6:30
duplicious yeah the uh African warrior
6:36
African go Africa he represents Africa the entire continent that's what his
6:43
word is not mine so I know I thought I was giving you space to have fun without that's that's his thing
6:49
I'm I'm clearly not as African as him so I can't speak on the matter I mean you
6:56
guys are on the same side same team
7:05
I guess not but this makes for a really interesting matchup because like you were saying like it is there's like a a
7:12
log Jam is what you said uh because yeah it's these these top guys that are just
7:19
like really jocking for position in the rankings yeah and I mean there are some you know up and comers coming up like
7:26
you know magmad off which we saw maybe it was just too big of a leap too soon it's okay we have another uh kind of
7:32
scary 185er that it was his I think it was his debut in the UFC and
7:37
he was on he opened the main card yesterday uh what is what is it hold on
7:44
give me give me a second yeah [Music]
7:55
took on Bruno fejera in a middleweight he is 6'5 he has 23
8:04
first round finishes and you know over you know 34 wins oh my sound is cutting
8:11
out I should not be moving um but it's just like there there is
8:16
there are levels and there is a bit of of a gap in competition experience so I
8:22
think it you know makes for a really interesting um introduction to the division
8:28
and I think that Bobby Knuckles taking on duplicitous I think I mean obviously that's next in line for the title
8:35
could be it could be I know it really just depends on what happens though right yeah like you you want to see how
8:43
it shakes out you want to see how emphatic the wind is who knows like Strickland could get the next title shot
8:49
just because he hasn't fought yet you know he hasn't fought the champ yet so
8:55
there's always that new blood X aspect to it too oh we haven't seen this matchup but we've seen you know out of
9:01
time fight Whitaker three times already so what's gonna be the difference this time why would we want to see a fourth
9:07
one like it really has to be a big win for Whitaker to be next in line sure I
9:13
think that his last fight with arasania was I thought that that was a statement I thought he could have been given the
9:19
win he he didn't but I thought his game plan was just really well thought out and really well executed and I could
9:25
have seen him winning personally I know other people would disagree but that's that's how I saw it
9:31
um and another one for that card is we're talking about
9:37
um well let me go back to my notes uh Moreno is taking on pantosia for the
9:42
flyweight title and they are the co-main to the featherweight title of okanoski
9:48
versus Rodriguez but I think it's really interesting that Mourinho finally he gets he gets a break from fighting
9:54
um his his Nemesis over the last two years yeah he's fought that guy way too many
10:00
times I know completely jammed up the the title shot for that division but now he's fighting Pantoja and this is going
10:06
to be his third fight with pantosia I know it's it's kind of unfortunate for
10:11
I'm like man this guy cannot get away from trilogies yeah can you just like have a fight against someone new and not
10:18
like have to overthink it and think about the fact that you lost twice to the guy already like that's that's the
10:25
hardest part having a rematch when you already won I feel like you're up around almost and yeah it might be more
10:32
difficult if you start to lose the rematch but going into it you already have this confidence you already know
10:38
you beat them once and you just have to do it again only better and you know that you were better then so math wise
10:46
you're probably gonna be better now but when you're fighting someone who beat you already especially beat you twice
10:53
that's a tough one to just mentally prepare for and I I swear Brandon Moreno
10:58
has to be one of the mentally toughest champions in the UFC right now because
11:04
he keeps getting thrown into the fire he keeps getting these horrible rematches
11:09
like I thought you guys liked him right he's like really like I think they like him for the first like Mexican naturally
11:16
born yeah Champion here what do you you're really really putting him through it I think they like how Cooperative he
11:23
is yeah maybe maybe he's just he just said yes let's go
11:30
yes please maybe in Legos I'll do anything I'll fight anyone
11:36
but yeah it does it does make for a really interesting like mental kind of
11:42
edge that pantosha has coming into it and honestly um I I think that pantosha would probably
11:48
say yeah I have the mental Edge but if you think about it Brenna Moreno since he's fought pantoshi he's gotten cut
11:54
from the UFC back in has held the title and I feel like that's going to give him
12:00
some confidence he's totally a completely different fighter than the first two times that they fought right completely different and he's made just
12:07
this career Resurgence and has to be feeling like he can take on any challenge going forward like especially
12:13
after losing the belt to figuredo winning it back and uh you know kind of putting to bed that trilogy now he gets
12:21
to just really make a statement and put to bed this one because the argument can
12:26
be made that even if he wins this one if it's close pantosia might still be someone that he has to think about in
12:34
the future but we'll see number four right exactly but there has to be some incentive there
12:41
to just like I I just gotta really [ __ ] him up some people don't want me to fight this guy and I want someone new I
12:47
need to give the other flyweights a chance you know yeah I mean I wonder what that feels like to these guys they're like oh okay never mind I
12:54
thought I was next in line but yeah there's gonna be a quadrilogy
13:02
how many times has that happened I don't know that we've had a fourth I think it
13:07
was like the second time when Mourinho did it I'm not sure what that one before it was but I feel like it wasn't the
13:14
first time it happened but it was it rarely happens no but we haven't gotten a fourth have we like a fourth fight
13:21
we've had trillions yeah yeah Moreno and figure it out yes yeah yeah I feel like
13:27
that was like the second time it happened okay history of the UFC but I'm not sure
13:32
don't quote me on that one I'm sure they'll let us know in the comments yeah please please correct this so we can
13:41
amend our shows later um yeah so I'm I'm really excited for
13:47
that one uh Brandon Moreno is like one of my UFC Heroes I love watching them
13:54
fight I love the way that he fights and just his story too like how can you not love the guy he's just such a nice guy
14:02
um been through been through the ups and downs of his career just never lost faith in his training in his and his
14:09
team uh and just kept striving for that gold and now he has it
14:15
um and we're gonna see how long he can keep it like he's he's just like such a good poster boy for the sport yeah I
14:23
really I really like what he's done with his career and he's been he's been down out but he hasn't been you know gone
14:33
he's still around the round no it's just one of those things where like that um that adversity has definitely been a
14:41
motivator for him and I I really admire that yeah let's go Marino but uh man he has
14:50
quite a uh task ahead of him with this fight like
14:55
a tear and just finishing people left and right so it's gonna be a banger of a
15:02
fight whether no matter what happens yes I'm excited for it the the other
15:08
fight that I'm really really excited for is volkanovsky versus Pantera
15:14
um yeah yeah Rodriguez so they fought on the same night but for different titles
15:20
volkanovsky challenged for the 155 total which I I would have given it to him I I
15:26
thought he did a great job amazing I thought he did the thing yeah but no
15:33
um he he did not get the title and then we had yair who submitted Emmett by
15:41
triangle so that was I mean he kind of just dismantled Emmett it was really really impressive the best I've ever
15:46
seen in a year and so that night we just saw you know the stage was set for what
15:52
was going to happen with the interim featherweight title and the current featherweight title Champion so yeah man
15:59
it's gonna be a it's going to be nuts watching those two go at it I think a lot of people are counting yair out but
16:05
one thing you have to remember is that he always has like a new trick up his sleeve he always has something that you've never seen him throw in a fight
16:12
and he might be playing it just for this person and it might just happen like the idea pops up in the middle of a scramble
16:19
and he just does it and it works like he's so good just being in the moment and taking advantage of these small
16:27
opportunities that a lot of people would just kind of hesitate on you know so he's really explosive he's really tricky
16:33
and that's gonna be kind of that X Factor in this fight where you don't
16:38
really expect vulcanovsky to I don't know get get caught with some
16:44
with one thing you know he's a technician he works his people he he like breaks them down systematically
16:52
systematically his opponent and he's able to deal with whatever tricks pop up
16:58
like you know or take a fight so I'm gonna be really surprised if if the fight is uh just like a knockout via
17:07
vulcanovski but I do think that yair has that ability to stop the fight at any
17:12
point but when it comes to winning rounds I think it's going to be a really hard night for him
17:18
I think on on paper I see volkanovsky winning but like you were saying yayer
17:24
really does have that that ability to to stop a fight in a really impressive
17:30
fashion he's he's very skilled and he can throw anything at you so I know
17:36
volcanovsky's ready for that I know he's preparing for all of that but you can't really prepare for it because maybe even the area doesn't even know what he's
17:42
going to throw at that no he doesn't knock out the zombie
17:49
yeah it's just um he's really impressive he's really fun to watch and he has
17:54
definitely improved his cardio his strength he looks a lot stronger if you had um if this fight had taken place maybe
18:01
even a year ago I would have said volcanovsky's just too big too strong too powerful but yair has really filled
18:09
in that Gap where he's a little bit stronger a little bit more explosive and that's that's a hard task to to to
18:16
complete when you have that kind of build he's long and lanky and not really the body type known for that kind of
18:24
explosiveness and and strength yeah uh so it'll it'll be interesting I see
18:30
volkanovsky winning just because he's one of those guys where yeah yeah can throw all that stuff and volcano is just
18:36
going to keep walking through and walking through yeah and he'll he'll take it and he'll give it back tenfold
18:41
he's a little Bolder he's a little Boulder I mean
18:46
the confidence that he probably gained from fighting up a weight class for the
18:52
title and going five rounds with the champ yes someone is scary as a
18:57
necessary like that fight I had I had volkanowski out I'm like okay he's
19:03
probably gonna get hit and taken down and submitted at some point probably like the fourth round
19:10
because he's so durable but at some point it's gonna start getting nasty and he did so good he was just like uh just
19:18
out wrestling him and in some points and just you know systematically just
19:23
hitting him with with the long stuff and you know it was it was just a really impressive fight to see like oh yeah
19:29
volcanovski he's he's definitely competitive with this champ who's just been destroying people so maybe that's
19:37
gonna be um that next step he'll get that rematch if he's able to get past yeah here
19:44
it's gonna be interesting I'm really excited for that card yeah and then how do we think that
19:49
Whitaker and duplicitous is going to come because that's the same that's the same night yeah and I think I don't know
19:55
I just I think it is more of a test for duplicitous than it is Whitaker that's
20:01
just that's just my opinion you can well yeah Whitaker has seen everything you've seen everything you know um
20:07
I just I see him winning that fight but but again when I've watched duplicates I
20:14
have seen him and I'll be like oh no he's not gonna win this one he's down and out and then he just comes back and and he takes it and I'm like not bad I
20:22
think there's definitely some invisible stuff going on with duplicities too like I don't know if he's just uh you know
20:29
corn fed African you know he's just big and strong and you can't really see it
20:35
the way they yeah when you look at him next to another fighter but it's it's like he's really dense like people get
20:42
tired just trying to beat him up you know and then like it becomes this wild fire fight and then duplicity's just
20:48
like connects and that's that's his bread and butter that's what's gotten him this far and we'll see what happens
20:54
with this fight but this is definitely the jumping off point for him like I was saying you know it's harder for Whitaker
21:02
to make a case with a win in this fight but plessis forget about it yeah if he can beat Whitaker who else has beaten
21:09
Whitaker you know like at a sign and somebody else on here I'm sure but not
21:14
that many people so what occurs the man he's a man so if he's able to get past
21:19
Whitaker and it could happen he could lull him into this uh tiring kind of a
21:26
slug Fest and get the better of Whitaker when he if he can get him a little
21:31
emotional get him a little sloppy for half a second and then bam like so this is a a big step up for duplexes and he
21:38
might be able to challenge for that uh you know best fighter in Africa belt if
21:43
he's able to win this one over Whitaker I mean there is definitely like a a marketing man's dream yeah in the
21:50
match-up oh yes yes it is when he did that press conference that we're making fun of
21:56
um I was like oh yeah that's the way to get out of saying his attention he is
22:01
definitely gonna take the bait if you win your next fight like I'm surprised they didn't make the fight already you
22:07
know like like okay okay this is definitely gonna happen but uh we need a
22:13
little bit more legitimacy behind the title shot so a win over Whitaker would definitely put him as number one
22:19
Contender I think I got you I agree yeah I'm tracking it yeah well are there any
22:26
of the fights on UFC 290 that you're excited about those are the main ones
22:32
um I think we had so we had a couple of flyweight female flyweight that fought
22:37
over the weekend on the Apex card and it just made me start thinking about like
22:43
the the state of the flyweight situation so we have a really exciting rematch
22:49
coming for Alexa Grosso the current champ and then the former champ I never
22:55
thought I would say that um so I think that's really interesting I
23:01
was wondering if there was an automatic rematch clause in the contract turns out there was yes yes yes of course it's
23:08
good for her it's unsaid an unsaid rule you don't Dethrone the
23:14
Queen the bullet Queen without having to give her a second shot at the boat pun
23:20
intended but yeah their nickname's bullet yeah
23:26
yeah um yeah it's everyone expected it
23:31
especially the way that it ended because chefchenko wasn't losing rounds you know
23:37
non-stop I think Grasso had like a good first round then chefchenko had a good
23:42
second and third and then I think it was the fourth round that's when grassa was able to pull off that submission win and
23:49
it was super impressive but there's always going to be that person that's saying well she's just off that day or
23:57
oh she's you know she she got caught in something it's hard to just get caught in the submission though like there are
24:05
steps to finishing those it's like if you play the UFC game it's a lot easier to like
24:12
accidentally get an overhand knockout than to accidentally get an arm bar because the buttons like when you get in
24:19
the arm press position you gotta like Circle the the one one button and then
24:24
like hit the shoulder buttons and do all this crazy [ __ ] or if you're striking
24:30
you're just smashing buttons and then you can get a knockout that way so it's it's kind of similar
24:36
it might experience to the real thing where you
24:42
can't smash buttons with a submission you have to know it but you can with striking but you can with straight 100
24:48
you definitely can with striking you can throw it from your back pocket it'll still hurt and and you can like stumble
24:55
somebody the punch is gonna hurt even if it was badly thrown so that's a big difference so that's why
25:02
I feel like uh it's unfair to say that oh Grosso just caught her with something lucky but we do get to see Chef Chango
25:10
try to get this one back and I felt like ship Tinkles fight before that the one with Talia Santos she started showing
25:17
some holes in her game uh I thought she lost that fight I did too but the fact
25:23
that she won you know it might have stopped her from going back and watching
25:28
tape and saying we need to share these things up so it doesn't happen in my next one and a few of those things have
25:34
happened like uh she she'll go for like kind of a sacrifice throw against the
25:39
fence and end up on her back I felt like that happened once and then uh you know with the spinning back kick that she
25:46
threw it was a little slow it was a little like she wasn't really expecting a calendar from it and then that's the
25:53
best time to jump on your opponent's back when they're throwing something kind of lazily like a lazy jab or a lazy
25:59
spinning anything it's a perfect time to attack so if she shared those things up I'm
26:06
wondering um You Know How likely is Grosso going to find another opening because when it
26:12
comes to just rounds and you know just the overall fight shivchenko was still
26:18
winning the overall fight before the submission happened yeah I mean I think that poses an interesting
26:23
question I think that Grosso capitalized on the opportunity for sure and I mean she had you know I
26:30
after her fight she likes to show like the warm-up or the training footage that like got her the win or got her you know
26:37
just things that mirror what she did in the fight to show that she's trained for and you know her trainers and she had
26:42
said like we were prepared for this we capitalize on this moment I don't know if it's going to be there again I don't
26:48
see it being there again I think shivchenko's the kind of lady that obsesses about it and we'll go back to
26:54
the drawing board and she'll tighten everything up um so yeah I think it's a really interesting matchup or sorry I think it
27:02
makes for like an interesting little chess match to see what adjustments are made yeah and I mean they're so close to
27:08
each other in you know the fight date so it's like they immediately went back to camp and they took all of that energy
27:15
all of that experience and knowledge and just like got back to work yeah yeah it's almost kind of nice you know when
27:23
you already went out there you took the test you got your score back and you're
27:28
like okay now I can fix these things doesn't take the same exact test it's going to be a little harder but at least
27:34
I'm I have some point of reference to what it's going to feel like you know because when you're going out there
27:40
against a new opponent against a champion even and they have this just
27:48
kind of built up scariness to them like chefchenko probably had the most built
27:53
up scariness to her of all the uh female divisions because we've seen uh Amanda
27:59
Nunes get in trouble even though she just became this monster at the end of her career we've seen still seeing her
28:05
get in trouble a lot in her career too so there's things that you can pull from to be like okay we're gonna do this when
28:11
she does that um but chefchenko just seemed kind of invincible at that point and then when
28:17
she won against Talia Santos I was like well she could win it anyway
28:23
she has the judges in her pocket too like you better Beat the Champ or else you're not gonna beat the champ so
28:29
there's always that uh that Mystique going in against someone like that and the fact that she was able to go in
28:35
there and just kind of slay the the Goliath you know
28:40
um now she gets to come in and she's not gonna have that scariness in this when
28:46
she's walking into the cage as much as she did last time she's gonna have more confidence
28:51
um just more belief in the stuff that they went over because it worked last time so it's definitely going to work
28:57
this time at least that's what she's going to be thinking you know walking in there so it's kind of nice being able to
29:03
I don't know attack the same problem twice and there's nothing like that like
29:08
post fight spidey sense Matrix like feeling that you have when you go into training I swear it's it's like a bit of
29:17
a superhuman feeling you have just this like um less of a tunnel vision when
29:22
you're sparring or training I know that for me if I've fought and then I went right
29:29
back into training and I'm sparring and I'm doing technique I just feel so much sharper I just feel so much more cunning
29:34
and athletic and sharp and I just it feels good it feels good so it's a great momentum to have
29:40
after a fight to get right back into training and then have something lined up right away yeah very very fun and
29:47
it's going to be all about her and not about the former Champion so
29:53
that's another little extra Notch she gets to enjoy the uh the excitement
29:59
instead of being like Oh everyone's counting on me to win oh God yeah now
30:06
she gets to come in as a champion defending I feel like there's just a little more uh prepping your step there
30:12
it's like the Leon Edwards uh Usman too you know uh you could see that he was
30:17
brimming with confidence and throughout the entire fight even if he uh had a tough round he was brimming with
30:24
confidence the entire time he was never kind of counting himself out in that
30:29
fight because he already beat the the unbeatable so coming back in uh you're
30:35
up around yeah for sure and he had his country behind him that too that that helps that's it that is a good good
30:43
feeling yeah um interesting enough okay speaking about countrymen we have
30:50
um
30:58
it's actually foot right between the two of us we'll get it right stand on foot
31:03
somewhere in the in the mishmashing um so she is number three four in the
31:09
rankings at flyweight and she is taking on rosenoma yunus who is stepping up from straw weight to flyweight and
31:16
fighting in France wow yes okay so this is a big fight for
31:22
both of them this is a huge fight literally for Rose because she's gonna be bigger
31:28
um she she doesn't seem that big to me but I think maybe she's just filled out
31:34
a bit since we were on the show and maybe the weight cut is I don't know an
31:40
actual weight cut now and not just dieting but she's she's never looked that big to me
31:45
um I just think she she has a lot of confidence in her ability and if anything right now is the time to go for
31:52
the 125 belt because you know chefchenko has been dethroned uh it's a lot easier
31:58
to get that match up against someone like Grasso or even a Valentino wins the rematch there's still that [ __ ] in her
32:06
armor you know where where people are going to be like man if Grasso could beat her I bet Rose could beat her I bet
32:12
this person or that person could beat her suddenly there's a lot more confidence in the contenders in the 125
32:19
Division because of what Grosso was able to do against chefchenko so I do think
32:24
this is a smart move just because especially if you know your your Rosemary units you've already won the
32:31
115 belt twice um probably probably feeling pretty
32:37
accomplished at this point in your career still young uh still able to do a
32:42
lot going forward why not try to go for the 125 belt and then if you win that
32:47
you have a case made for you at 115 again so it's it's a pretty smart move I
32:53
think uh even if she's not the biggest 115er um and you know she's been able to see
33:00
how Jessica Andre does at 125 she does really well at 125 she's competitive and
33:06
also kind of like an almost normal size drawing not the biggest not the smallest
33:12
either but definitely not the biggest so uh it's it's an easier ladder to climb sure
33:19
she's going in and fighting the number four and I think where she gets her confidence from is she spars and trains
33:25
with Valentina shevchenko like she has that experience and oh okay from what I understand she feels good there she
33:31
feels strong she feels fast comparatively speaking to somebody that size so
33:37
uh from what I have heard and been told she's just you know going in one fight at a time kind of idea she's not really
33:44
she's not really a filled out flyweight she's still you know a decent sized straw weight but as far as fly weights
33:50
go I think she is just really confident in her skill set and so she's going in you know with this opportunity and yeah
33:58
it's a short trip to the top number three is blanchfield who I feel is on deck for a title shot but if you never
34:06
know with the UFC like with Rose's resume going in against somebody who's number four it could be like a straight
34:12
shot to the title you never know yeah and I think blanchfield is fighting Talia Santos let me double check that's
34:19
a good one but um I'm pretty sure that's happening so that's definitely going to
34:24
be the uh the next in line for sure like between the two of them they both have
34:30
very clear yeah they're fighting August 26th so they both have very
34:36
um strong cases to fight for that title it's almost a shame that they're fighting each other because then we would have had the next
34:43
person lined up you know but um yeah I'm excited for them for that one because uh
34:51
I think Santos's ground game is underrated I really think that uh she
34:56
can do some work down there and blanchfield is just completely stacked down there so I'm really curious to see
35:03
what happens if she gets dragged to the ground I think it's gonna be really interesting the way blanchfield looked in her
35:09
previous fight though I mean she she took on andrad at a short notice fight I
35:14
I understand that that's fair but in a boob up though it was it was bottom side boob we didn't
35:22
get a full nip slip but it was still there emotion like a total creeper like every
35:28
time I was like a freaking UFC guy creeper I did it slow motion I freeze framed it just to make sure yeah no she
35:35
definitely adjusted something it could have been bad she was on top of it and then she got
35:41
choked out yeah yeah unfortunate fair enough I I would like it's always hard for me I don't want to
35:47
take any kind of um momentum or or praise or acknowledgment of somebody that you know
35:53
wins on a short fight notice opponent but I just I do wonder how it
36:00
would have gone with a full Camp oh yeah for sure like I always have to wonder that and it's not taking anything away
36:05
from Aaron or anybody that has beat someone it's always there's always a challenge when somebody you know you're
36:11
training for somebody they drop out and then you get this like wild card in there and you've already been training
36:17
for a very specific style most likely and so it it does you know pose its own
36:22
challenges so that's an acknowledgment to how challenging it is but still I do wonder if you know the the conditioning
36:29
the preparation wouldn't make a difference yeah well I think in rods at
36:35
this point where she already has the skills to beat anyone so
36:41
it's just a matter of getting those opportunities and she's she was super excited about signing her last contract
36:47
I think she said she had like a six fight deal and is trying to get through him as quickly as possible so she was
36:54
going to take the bait no matter who it was and uh I think if anything it's um
37:00
it's Testament to how uh just down and drought is because she's putting her
37:05
number on the line like I think when she fought blanchfield she was ranked number four or something she was in the top
37:12
five for sure at 125. so um to be able to hop in short notice and
37:18
just be like nah I got this that's pretty cool of her but it's definitely not a strike against her I might not do
37:24
it again that's hard after that one you know uh
37:29
and we have a short fight Camp you definitely fight with a little more titty
37:35
you do you don't you don't do the press-ups and work the fat off for for eight weeks so you have a little
37:43
more a little more to pop out so that could have been a factor too she might not have even cared if she had a fight
37:49
camp and that titty popped out because it'd just be like a little a little flap
37:55
instead of a fool Mound no I gotta say like the
38:02
God bless them there the UFC like they come up with these
38:08
with these outfits and I'm like they are not female friendly too they are not
38:14
friendly to female athletic bodies like they have to be adjusted and and tailored so much and the bras are still
38:22
just an issue I just I wish they had like some kind of clasp in the back so
38:28
we could put it on like armor instead of like a a [ __ ] sports bra you know the
38:37
first prize I mean when they came out with this new uniform I was like okay cool um and the elasticity of the bra like
38:45
around the chest was so tight like yeah like every time we'd put it on we had to like pull it with our knee and stretch
38:52
it out because it was literally like you couldn't expand your rib cage and breathe yeah you couldn't breathe so you had to get a size bigger you had to wear
38:58
a bra underneath it and you just had to deal with it and so now they've come up with a new and improved
39:06
sports bra and now they're like they're like it's like a t-shirt there's like why can't you just put some
39:14
regular like you know the the elastic band we need one of those old school
39:20
tailors with the with the uh what do you call it the the thing that you measure
39:26
things yes measuring tape the the nice fabric measuring tape and they're going
39:31
like doing all your measurements and stuff your bust size and your rib cage size and all that and have them tailor
39:38
the perfect little uh chest cavity for your boobs so they don't pop up and and
39:44
then they need to put some kind of clasp on the back that's not gonna get in the way like something like a zipper or
39:51
something that you can you know you can flap over with fabric or something like that so you don't have to worry about
39:57
kicking it or something you know a zipper you want to fight with a zipper on the back
40:03
I'm so mad at you for saying that dude zippers hurt and then I could slide it no it would have like the fabric over it
40:10
so it doesn't rub on your skin like a pair of jeans yeah okay it's not going
40:15
to be against your skin but have some kind of clasp on the back so that you can actually put the thing on maybe in
40:22
this island like the the hooks yeah I don't know I feel like the hooks will pop off maybe you just need to be sewn
40:29
in yeah just sew me in fill me in day of and I'm not coming out
40:35
until you get the scissors I feel like an easy enough solution would just be a [ __ ] up like spandex stretchy band or
40:44
cut man get the cut man to wrap your chest yeah yeah
40:51
wrap that thing down these suckers ain't gone anyway get the tape out
40:57
we get to go then can you breathe
41:05
yeah they're the worst it's hard to figure out what a good solution is because a lot of athletes who get to
41:12
fight in shirts like they go braless because they don't like that restriction there yeah like it's it's it really is
41:19
something that people don't uh think about because the world is run by men well I mean if you okay so when you see
41:26
boxers go back and they sit on their stool the guys are literally pulling they're groin and and kidney protector
41:34
and they're pulling it yeah so that they can breathe because that thing is really tight and it has to be nice and tight
41:39
putting some water down yeah sometimes cool the balls cool the coolant system you know get it get it up and running
41:46
yeah that thing overheating you see the steam come out yes yes yes yeah it's definitely hot in there in those Pockets
41:53
uh yeah gotta figure it out it's the same it's the same thing you need
41:59
you need to be able to breathe you just do yeah it's necessary for living fighting
42:05
all things all things involved especially hard things
42:11
hard things you need to be able to breathe without doing it um but we digress uh the flyweight
42:18
division is definitely burgeoning and exciting and that's what always happens when uh dominant Champion gets knocked
42:25
off the pedestal all of a sudden you have all these contenders that are that are fun matchups and you're wondering
42:32
what's going to happen with the next person who who challenges Grasso or challenges you know the new chefchenko
42:39
if she's able to beat her in the rematch and yeah it's just it's fun when that happens so I'm excited to see how those
42:46
girls take care of business definitely well on that note I think we are going to pause our talk and come back with our
42:54
exclusive content what do you say hey yeah let's do it we'll see you later bye
