0:57
so before we get into episode one let me
0:59
tell you guys the synopsis of it we're
1:01

1:03
the full plot in general but the
1:04
synopsis of it
1:10

1:14
pandemic and turns its victims into
1:16
bloodthirsty attackers Joe flees with
1:19
his daughter Sarah as the virus starts
1:22
to spread but she is killed by a soldier
1:24
who attacks him while Joel is saved by
1:26
his brother Tommy 20 years later the
1:29
virus have ravaged the world Joe lives
1:31
in the Boston quarantine Zone managed by
1:34
the federal Disaster Response agency
1:36
Federal as a Smuggler with his partner
1:38
test
1:40
when Tommy when Tommy fails to contact
1:42
him from his location in Wyoming they
1:45
tried to buy a car battery from a local
1:47
dealer but it is instead sold to the
1:50
fire flower a rebel group that opposed
1:52
this bedroom attempting to retrieve it
1:54
they find the uh they uh they find the
1:56
bill has gone awry and Marlene
1:59
the fireflies wounded leader bags draw
2:02
to take tests to uh to take a drawing
2:04
test to take young Ellie to the
2:06
Massachusetts state house in exchange
2:07
for supplies they are caught by a
2:09
soldier while sneaking out and Ellie
2:12
stabs him when he tests them for the
2:14
infection when the soldier tries to
2:16
shoot her job beats him to death test
2:18
realized that Ellie is effective but
2:20
Ellie promised them that she will not
2:22
turn they enter a biological
2:24
contamination area to flee the pursuing
2:27
Federal soldiers
2:28
so by the way spoiler if you ain't watch

3:21
little side conversations and whatnot
3:23
you know but until then thank you now
3:26
let's go ahead and get into our full
3:28
review as a resident who hasn't played
3:31
the game I want to hear your thoughts
3:32
first because now you're just talking on
3:33
it purely as a TV show yeah I mean so I
3:37
guess like I was saying earlier when we
3:39
was watching it um they they were smart
3:41
to drop this in right after Walking Dead
3:44
so having another zombie movie that kind
3:47
of Pops in
3:48
um right especially if you're just
3:49
especially if you are somebody who was
3:52
just a fan of like walking dead you like
3:55
oh there's another kind of movie you're
3:56
saying so for me watching it it gave me
3:58
all the the the feels energy that I had
4:01
more background with walking dead
4:03
because I read the conference show came
4:04
out right yeah and this one
4:06
um I can even feel the sense of walking
4:09
deadness in this you know of it you know
4:12
from even like the opening scenes like
4:13
yeah just the the subtle choirs the [ __ ]
4:16
really can't you know chaos really
4:17
ensuing in a lot of zombie movies you
4:19
know so I mean shows kind of do that so
4:21
I think like first of all as an episode
4:23
uh it was a great one fight
4:27
um knowing that it like that first half
4:30
um talking to y'all and knowing that
4:31
that first half is literally the game I
4:33
wanted yeah even more now yeah like
4:35
knowing that I was like because I'm
4:36
watching the movie I'm watching it like
4:39
and you know you're just looking out and
4:40
I'm playing games you know the great
4:42
cinematic you know yeah of course and
4:44
stuff like that but it's like
4:46
um personally I haven't played one in a
4:48
very long time yeah so watching this
4:50
watching it and hearing y'all like oh
4:52
they got to pay into a team this was in
4:54
the game
4:58
um I think it was I think overall I
5:00
think I think very interesting story I
5:02
think it makes a lot of sense you're
5:03
saying like
5:04
um so I think the idea okay even with
5:07
the game like I said for game wise in
5:09
general everybody like I've never I
5:11
never really pay attention to the game
5:12
like I don't have I don't I'm on the
5:14
phone I'm not a zombie guy right right
5:15
uh like I knew it was a great game like
5:17
I've all heard people always tell me I
5:19
should play it or whatever but I just
5:21
never got got a song in the player yet
5:22
like I want to play it but it was never
5:24
on top of my list so yeah because that's
5:27
what it is it's the story of this like
5:29
that they walk you through Us in this
5:31
Zombie World or you know in this in this
5:33
mutated world yeah the story like I said
5:36
it kicks off wait wait this is them
5:39
again so it's like you like if this is
5:41
the beginning it only either gets worse
5:43
or even more crazier so as you are going
5:45
through it and that that's what
5:47
attraction to the game because yeah yeah
5:48
it got it has that narrative like like
5:51
you said it's that thing you're like
5:52
damn I'm interested in these characters
5:55
yeah I'm not interested in the world
5:57
like I said once um
6:15
so it was like um that like even knowing
6:18
that kind of chaos like the backstory of
6:20
why they created y'all pretty much just
6:22
saying like what he had to go through to
6:24
kind of be like now you see 20 years
6:25
later like bro ain't really funny shits
6:27
but I mean he kind of wasn't for the
6:30
[ __ ] since when it was going when
6:32
everything was going crazy he was he ran
6:35
past that he a couple with the kids
6:43
I don't know
6:49
Denise definitely could have got into
6:50
the car
6:54
that could at least save your knees
7:05
a to make it in the house
7:10
foreign
8:18
right right at the beginning the whole
8:21
first half of this movie I mean the
8:24
First Act that was moving up until like
8:25
when it starts going crazy you didn't
8:27
really get that much I think I think you
8:29
start in Joe's house and then you know
8:32
like there's this moment where like I
8:34
think you see their their like Graham
8:36
Graham came in the game no no no no that
8:39
whole the adlers yeah which but but
8:42
similar that like with at some point you
8:45
get to go like explore Yeah well yeah
8:48
and the antlers I mean they were the
8:51
neighbors like that that's right but
8:52
like you don't see them who they were
8:54
yeah yeah you don't see you don't see
8:56
the downfall because you gotta figure
8:58
you gotta figure that was all from yeah
9:02
like I was saying just the difference in
9:04
the the
9:05
similarities and obviously what made it
9:07
more crazy again you know you feel the
9:09
vibration and stuff yeah so it was like
9:11
just American but even watching it you
9:13
kind of felt like Fast playing this I
9:15
don't know I'm feeling the vibration
9:16
right here
9:23
that's what I'm saying like because
9:25
those like those are really my favorite
9:27
video games but when you really play the
9:28
game you realize like oh this
9:30
controllers is really sitting here yeah
9:31
all this time yeah watching right
9:34
because I mean yeah
9:43
that's what I understood when they start
9:45
to have to actually do that video game
9:46
because like Final Fantasy and [ __ ] like
9:49
those kind of get bro you had that
9:51
[ __ ] sitting down yeah you make
9:52
you a sandwich yeah
9:56
man you got you got to know what's going
9:58
on like you said people they might walk
10:00
off before or something like no you need
10:02
to know this story
10:37
so you're not making it 20 years
10:41
the chaos that created the 20 years
10:44
later I've gone in that going oh so you
10:47
you're going light up you go night up
10:50
I'm gonna light up I feel like they they
10:53
reorganized life I don't know how
10:55
quickly after but it's like they they
10:57
seem to reorganized life pretty pretty
10:59
okay but I feel like that's all they did
11:02
was just aren't into everybody oh yeah
11:07
military they quarantined everything was
11:09
like week yeah like you yeah you turn if
11:13
everything that's right you show red I'm
11:16
out you out of here
11:18
like I said those people that they
11:19
executed like if you oh you snuck out
11:22
unauthorized you didn't get a chance
11:23
today
11:25
if you oh you stuck in here I mean yeah
11:28
we we like to say paper but you did
11:30
because
11:32
that bro I'm not gonna do it you can be
11:35
fireflies
11:36
let me know fireflies biting the [ __ ]
11:39
government bro [ __ ] out of here like no
11:42
bro that's why I kept trying to explain
11:44
the yard like you try like even Joe bro
11:48
like the the hustle that that [ __ ] had
11:49
the beginning
11:53
the backpack
11:57
we working double time [ __ ] your
11:59
birthday I'll break you okay
12:01
I ain't trade again
12:04
yeah exactly his birthday
12:07
didn't want to get Tommy no goddamn
12:10
money like you're saying Joe all you're
12:11
trying to get his branded and then
13:04
order you
13:08
outside the wall and all that kind of
13:10
[ __ ] man
13:12
I feel like um you start you shooting
13:15
from the roof do [ __ ] laughing bro if
13:18
I make anybody yeah if I make it through
13:20
the first
13:21
I don't know what role I played
13:25
I'll be translator fan like
13:37
I could do that
13:39
you could relate messages
13:41
they'll probably get they'll probably
13:43
get good money he probably get good
13:45
rations
13:50
cause I'm on your ass you didn't give a
13:52
rush to beating up all your risk of my
13:53
life I'm shooting from the roof because
13:55
I think about in the basement it's like
13:58
damn
14:00
it's going crazy
14:03
because people because people are going
14:06
to want to have extra rations so they
14:07
can give on two messages yeah I'm my
14:10
rash you could delay a second message
14:11
bro do you ever land no messages no
14:14
message you better hope you ain't got no
14:15
family on the other side of the Wall go
14:18
get some death job
14:21
two moments that I really felt like he
14:23
was like okay this I'm in on this show
14:26
when when they killed his daughter
14:28
because she was like well this is how
14:29
this happened yeah and then seeing
14:33
seeing the sport I think that that
14:35
moment like you know fam against the
14:37
wallet yeah
14:54
there is reason to evolve one Gene
14:57
mutates and then ask of my city uh
15:00
candida ergot cordyceps aspergillus any
15:03
one of them could become capable of
15:05
borrowing into our brains and taking
15:07
control not of millions of us but
15:09
billions of us he said I think you said
15:11
that wasn't in the game like they didn't
15:12
really kind of get it yeah they didn't
15:14
give that like that explanation like
15:16
which is a dope Edition but this is like
15:18
this gave it like the Lord it gave it
15:20
like the signed by it yeah and I mean
15:22
I've heard like I'm definitely like what
15:23
he was describing yeah talking about the
15:25
you know shrooms and everything like fun
15:26
guys like I'm definitely everybody if
15:28
you if you didn't even thought about any
15:30
of the trippier things yeah I'm saying
15:32
like you've already kind of understood
15:34
that mushrooms do have some kind of
15:36
trait yeah you know they'd have to kind
15:38
of control over our body anyway so
15:40
um knowing that that's kind of like the
15:42
premise of like I didn't know that
15:43
either about the game I didn't know the
15:44
premise was they oh okay like I thought
15:47
it was literally just like another
15:48
zombie though right either the MVP of
15:50
the show right now it's either Marlene
15:52
or Joe who you giving it to who who who
15:56
won the episode for you
16:00
family one episode for me
16:04
she came in hot bro hey you and you I
16:07
think like if y'all knew her that was
16:09
her trained up then y'all you know I
16:12
didn't know until she said her name
16:13
because remember I was my first year
16:15
they called her uh I forgot Veronica so
16:18
yeah even then yeah for me I didn't know
16:20
it was hurt so when I realized it was
16:21
her that's why I asked when I watched
16:23
her like is this it's not changing the
16:24
game like and he was like yeah they
16:26
pretty accurate
16:30
for me I got Marlene one of the episodes
16:33
she came up she just the way she came at
16:36
her place she was like sorry I can do it
16:37
you don't have a [ __ ] ear on your
16:39
[ __ ] head could you please they ask
16:41
you how you are you just have to say
16:43
that you're fine when you're not really
16:44
fine but you just can't get into got it
16:46
on one first Marlene like she's not that
16:49
Cutthroat in the game dog yeah
17:02
it's not gonna be that aggressive
17:05
is that your question
17:07
that's one of them
17:09
my answer is to follow [ __ ] orders
17:11
our people are asking what's going on
17:13
and I don't know what to tell them tell
17:15
them to follow [ __ ] orders
17:40
his mannerisms basically and Chaos
17:44
didn't change
18:38
honestly now this is like probably the
18:40
fourth or fifth HBO adaptation that we
18:43
saw that we were like damn this is great
18:47
so we know Netflix we [ __ ] up with
18:49
anime adaptations would you like to see
18:52
HBO try to hand that one I say yes HBO
18:54
so HBO has has garnered my trust okay
18:59
right so like they already have my
19:00
choice for shows right it just really
19:02
like drama series right we're the point
19:03
I'm like I've got to know much about it
19:05
imma watch it HBO has done so many like
19:08
you said adaptations of something where
19:10
it's like yo this is actually kind of
19:12
solid right I trust them now that if
19:14
they if they if they if they was to say
19:16
hey this is this this could be my hot
19:18
tape if they were to say all right
19:20
listen we got the rights to Dragon Ball
19:21
Z knowing what Dragon Ball Evolution was
19:23
and knowing that I'm like I don't I
19:25
don't think we're ready for one if HBO
19:26
say they do it I'll give them a shot
19:28
I'll be like I win it so what's your
19:30
answer before I get mine
19:35
oh
19:37
my God
19:43
so you're so so you would know
19:47
yeah why because I mean they do great
19:49
real life adaptions like nothing was
19:52
going to steal people okay okay
19:54
I don't really know how I feel about
19:56
them taking on like animation Jack yeah
19:58
Japanese but what if it's like a like a
20:01
Death Note where it's not it's kind of
20:03
real life-ish it got some Fantastical in
20:06
it but it's still more often than not
20:08
real life-ish
20:10
David real will be the only right you
20:12
just saying that would not be that they
20:14
would have to I mean I mean in that like
20:16
there's something like that because I
20:18
mean like I didn't think that the
20:20
definite difference was terrible within
20:23
a sense like outside of all like the
20:24
supernatural elements and everything
20:26
let's say an anime like high-rise
20:28
invasion
20:31
um
20:33
I mean I can see that I can definitely
20:35
see that going on I mean I mean because
20:37
it's still it's on it's argument bro
20:39
like I said my issue is with the fact
20:41
that Supernatural elements yeah like
20:43
what you visually can see in mangoes or
20:45
what they like like the kamehameh like
20:48
bro what else like I said the Dragon
20:50
Ball it's certain anime that it works
20:52
for I I do agree with you I think I I
20:56
will watch it but you have to there's a
21:00
scale of
21:02
Dragon Ball I'm sorry
21:04
so high-rise Invasion or a Death Note
21:08
definitely Republic somewhere in the
21:10
middle because you do got the you got
21:11
the aspect of you got to create the
21:13
Shinigami yeah so compared like Game of
21:16
Thrones or whatever where you got a
21:17
dragon right like I can get that all
21:20
right but when you really when you're
21:21
adding like like Piccolo greens
21:29
let my hot Tech breathe so quick yes or
21:33
no I don't wanna we don't none of us
21:35
have to elaborate do you think they can
21:37
do Naruto let's say ship with it any
21:39
that ship with it yes
21:45
yes or no
21:47
I'm gonna say I I'll say yes as well all
21:51
right so scale one to five eagles we got
21:54
it I'm gonna give it a five this is a
21:55
great first episode
22:01
all right all right well then thank you
22:04
guys for joining us on our first
22:05

22:31

22:36
like everybody has the stereotypical on
22:39
what a black geek is are you familiar
22:40
with the term blur
22:42
blood none right some people said it
22:44
came off of Scrubs some people said it
22:46
came off the internet I don't honestly
22:48
really know ah don't you see the skin
22:52
the eyebrows the hair yo my Geeks Still
22:56
Rock you know what I'm saying dunks or
22:59
or Jordans or whatever
23:07
she's excited about it too
23:10
um and uh same as you said like a barber
23:12
shop talk like we would go into really
23:14
in-depth conversations about these
23:16
theories and like well what if and how
23:18
come it's not on news
23:22
right but we we talk about anime video
23:26
games comic books and stuff like that
23:28
but when you hear us talk about it the
23:30
passion sounds like we arguing Jordan
23:32
and bronze
23:43
you broke that down right there
23:47
but when you see the black key you don't
23:49
see that you see the socially awkward
23:51
glass as well this is me and that's not
23:55
a lot of us a lot of us do sound and
23:56
talk like us you know what I'm saying
23:58
it's because it becomes stereotypical as
24:00
if that's where our strength comes from
24:02
I don't know the geek that you talking
24:04
that you that you talked about before I
24:07
know to get you talking about right now
24:08
though it was sort of a call sign so we
24:12
can find each other on message boards
24:13
anime gives you life lessons throughout
24:16
that whole thing like there's not one
24:19
anime that I know of that doesn't teach
24:22
you to never give up it's just like I
24:24
just love seeing us go into the world
24:26
and going to different spaces and create
24:28
things that weren't there before and
24:30
then it was like Miles Morales is like
24:32
the normal you know black person in the
24:35
United States that was my first like
24:37
blurred moment was seeing you know storm
24:41
on the X-Men cartoon series and I was
24:43
like wow that's a black woman and she's
24:45
strong she's powerful that's what I want
24:48
for us I want us to be that voice
