worldly events so what people don't know

is that often

um the black church in general gets

credit for being involved in the Civil

Rights Movement but the reason they had

to have the uh Southern Christian

leadership conference was to try to get

the black church involved in the Civil

Rights Movement but by and large the

black church was not involved in the
7:48
Civil in the Civil Rights Movement for

the most part so anyway the the Pastor

said to him you know how dare you come

in church my father at 12 years old said

well if Jesus don't want to be part of

we're in this period in which a lot of

people are deciding that they want to

figure out how to change the world

um in the United States for over the

last three years has been roughly 3 000

strikes in the United States

report.com they've tracked all the

strikes since March 2020 and it's been

roughly 3 000 strikes and we're in the

meaning that we're in the biggest strike

wave the U.S has seen since the 1970s

and and some of these strikes are you

know just you know for everything from

the Waffle House to fast food to uh 30

000 Carpenters striking on the east
11:44
coast to right now uh 160
11:49
000 actors striking and 11 000 Riders

striking with with this thing and and

some of these things are just about

wages and people getting their fair

share of the wealth that's going on but

some of them are about changing bigger

things in Oakland California just uh a

month ago uh the teachers went on strike

they had a definitely a wage demand and
12:17
they won that and they stayed out on
12:18
strike and people were like why are

y'all still on strike it's because they
12:22
were going for these common good
12:23
proposals yeah so Oakland has a lot of
12:26
homeless people so there's also a lot of
12:29
homeless kids coming to school
12:32
and so the teachers one of their strike
12:35
demands was they need showers they need
12:38
to figure out a way to get shelter for
12:41
these kids this is something that
12:43
teachers are doing and demanding us and
12:45
they they're doing it with their strike
12:47
they also won these uh common good
12:49
proposals that said parents and teachers
12:51
get to decide what's done with the
12:53
budget
12:54
right so these are things where people
12:56
aren't just saying uh we we need more
12:59
piece of the pie which they do but they

want to shape the world around them and

and the same thing with the uh with

what's going on with uh the SAG and wga

strike the writers and actors

um you know often we get we get

technology rolled out to us like Hey

we're gonna have this technology where

we listen to you in your car and we're
13:21
uh and and and we can see you we know we

monitor your every move and um you're

not gonna like it mm-hmm

you're gonna make art about it you're

gonna talk about it and all that but

we're still doing it yeah so it's all

good and that's how technology has been

rolled out to us in this case

people are the the people involved in it

the writers and the actors are saying oh

are some of it is for the folks on the

wait till the writers are being evicted

from their homes then we're going to

underestimated is that people aren't
