quote is the foundation of achieving any
0:02
type of success
0:03
on the block or in the boardroom
0:05
industry so the corporate Suites in love
0:09
marriage Family Faith Life Health or
0:13
whatever it starts with one simple thing
0:16
you gotta believe you better say that
0:18
we've got Jeezy up in this [ __ ]
0:23
we're sending them back home baby I'm
0:25
back home you got a police welcome home
0:27
party it's good to have you back yeah
0:29
yes sir we've been waiting on you yes
0:31
sir we've been waiting on you this um by
0:34
the way how you been it's good to see
0:35
you look excellent I ain't doing it
0:36
likewise my brother I ain't doing no
0:38
complaining man as far as I'm concerned
0:40
I ain't never had a bad day in my life
0:42
so yeah even when you went to jail yeah
0:45
you know uh yeah that was yeah
0:48
interesting day a lot of great things
0:51
came out of that though I'll tell you
0:52
that yes and that's kind of the thread
0:54
of this book like yeah you you
0:56
reimagined every challenge
0:59
um every obstacle every wall right we'll
1:02
put that under adversity yes right and
1:05
then you gave it a new definition you
1:07
gave it new meaning you know gave a new
1:09
purpose yeah that requires work though
1:12
you don't yes you just don't land into
1:14
that mindset when you can look at your
1:17
past your present and then imagine it
1:19
the way you needed to be in order for it
1:21
to work what right did you start the
1:23
work you fell yourself into that though
1:25
like you just go you know you just fall
1:28
so many times it's like being a kid like
1:30
you fall and you know and if you
1:33
continue to fall nobody's gonna tell you
1:35
you can't you're not gonna ever be able
1:36
to walk right you know what I'm saying
1:38
eventually you're gonna be able to walk
1:40
and then it's just how cool is your walk
1:42
how confident is it and it's just like I
1:44
kept feeling failing and failing and
1:46
it's just like hold up but let me just
1:48
sit back and think about what I learned
1:51
when I feel I lost some money so I'm
1:53
going to lose money anymore so what do I
1:54
need to do now better accounts lost some
1:57
cases I think you get better lawyers
1:59
have some people do some foul things to
2:02
me now I need better friends yeah you
2:04
know what I'm saying had some people
2:05
that used to you know work for me and
2:06
help me and and they didn't understand
2:08
the vision so I got better people around
2:10
and that's just how I look at it it's
2:13
just like if you win
2:14
and all you ever did is win you know
2:17
that one time you should be a little
2:19
worried because
2:21
the next time you might not be so lucky
2:23
quote unquote you know what I'm saying
2:25
you might
2:26
and and I call it a mental GPS it's
2:28
almost like I always knew in my life if
2:30
I got lost
2:32
I was going to be able to find my way
2:33
back you know what I'm saying because I
2:35
had been through enough so even when I
2:37
had money I'll tell you like I ain't
2:38
like I was just always up yeah it looked
2:40
like it though I know you know I make it
2:41
look good
2:42
but I don't have it and lost it you know
2:45
a lot of times and every time I learned
2:48
something it was just one time like I
2:49
just ain't losing it no more I gotta be
2:51
better with my decisions I got to be
2:53
better with how I'm moving I got to be
2:54
better with how I'm living and I ain't
2:55
trying to preach that on nobody I'm just
2:57
saying but when you get to a certain age
2:59
you're gonna need money to live forever
3:00
you don't never it don't never stop you
3:03
know what I'm saying and it's always
3:04
going to be you know um it's always
3:07
gonna be things that come at you you
3:08
know what I'm saying that you won't have
3:09
to deal with and and some of that costs
3:12
you know a lot of money and some of that
3:14
costs uh what we call like uh social
3:16
Equity meaning like you got to have a a
3:19
village you got to have people around
3:21
you that can make things shake you know
3:23
what I'm saying and if you ain't
3:24
applying yourself and building those
3:26
type of relationships you know it's
3:28
going to be rough that's a fact right
3:30
yeah I'm saying I've been in some court
3:32
cases I've been sitting there like damn
3:33
you're gonna take all my money man you
3:36
know what I'm saying but it just so
3:37
happened I had the right lawyer and he
3:40
really went in there he fought for me
3:41
tooth and nail you know what I'm saying
3:43
and we have a great relationship after
3:44
that and we've won several cases and
3:47
I've learned so much just by
3:50
us building a relationship but this is a
3:52
person who was with me when I was down
3:54
right and people that was around me at
3:57
that time they went with me when I was
3:59
down but this is one individual so
4:01
that's what I mean by you have to invest
4:03
in people like spend time with them get
4:04
to know them build with them because
4:06
it'll be one person to change your whole
4:08
life yeah
4:10
change everything yeah
4:14
being a parent that was that enough to
4:17
kind of change your mentality or you
4:19
would early on you would still well all
4:21
my kids did something different for me
4:22
okay you know what I'm saying I love my
4:24
son
4:25
um that's my first born uh
4:28
he he taught me to be responsible
4:30
because I had him when I was young you
4:32
know what I'm saying so that was
4:34
most of my motivation to get really in
4:37
the streets in the streets you know what
4:39
I'm saying my son lived in the projects
4:40
he came up with us he lived in projects
4:42
He was born in the project so he had a
4:44
taste of that life yeah I'm saying so he
4:47
knows so I can't [ __ ] him you know
4:49
what I'm saying like he's very aware
4:52
um and my middle daughter
4:55
um you know that's my heart you know
4:57
what I'm saying she just taught me how
4:58
to care yeah right and she helped me
5:00
shift and and
5:02
Monaco uh
5:05
my last daughter just taught me about
5:06
patience and my middle daughter arminor
5:09
love of the death but my kids are like
5:11
that's that's my Foundation that's your
5:13
foundation But to answer your question
5:16
um
5:17
they all taught me something different
5:18
in a different stage in my life but I
5:21
have to admit you know I wasn't present
5:24
as I am now you know what I'm saying
5:27
because I was trying to figure my [ __ ]
5:29
out you know what I'm saying so you know
5:32
I could see what my son feel a little
5:34
sliding on certain things so we had
5:35
those conversations and I got to bear
5:37
with him because [ __ ] I feel the same
5:39
way about my moms you know what I'm
5:40
saying yeah she was trying to figure
5:41
that [ __ ] out and I'm getting slided you
5:44
know what I'm saying so I get it so what
5:46
what I what I try to focus on is being
5:48
intentional and breaking the cycle as
5:51
much as I can you know what I'm saying
5:52
but you know just knowing that we all do
5:54
the best we can but you know you don't
5:57
want this [ __ ] to just keep
5:59
you know just just Evol like just
6:02
you know just being the same pattern the
6:04
same yeah get out the cycle you just you
6:07
just don't want that you know what I'm
6:08
saying because these are your kids and
6:10
[ __ ] in this generation man you know I I
6:12
feel for him because I came up when it
6:14
was rough you know what I'm saying but
6:15
they [ __ ] is real you know they ain't
6:18
making it past 19. yeah you know 17. you
6:22
know it's different it's crazy right
6:24
yeah um Jeezy is here man get this man a
6:26
round of applause man yes yes Jay little
6:30
Jay here little Jay the author
6:32
okay
6:37
um how did you approach this book I love
6:39
that you start in the beginnings you
6:41
know you talk about you know uh being a
6:43
little rambunctious kid you used to
6:45
steal a lot yeah I did I was pretty good
6:47
too it was a thief
6:49
um don't leave
6:51
your dog your car doors open around me
6:54
you know what I'm saying yeah I I did I
6:56
did yeah you had cousins who were in the
6:58
game too yeah yeah I mean you know
7:00
pretty much all my family was in the
7:01
game though the people that wasn't
7:03
besides the people that wasn't working
7:04
in factories okay you know what I'm
7:06
saying like my aunties and my cousin
7:08
like it was a you know it was a family
7:10
business if you want to be honest with
7:11
you so for a lot of the time it didn't
7:13
feel like nothing nothing was going on
7:15
wrong until people started getting
7:16
locked up you know what I'm saying and
7:19
before that it was like a thing that we
7:20
do and and these are the first
7:22
entrepreneurs I ever seen yeah these are
7:25
the people that look successful so I'm
7:26
not gonna go work for a factory when I
7:29
can go out here and do this because it
7:31
doesn't seem wrong you're not seeing the
7:33
after effect yeah the consequences yeah
7:34
you're just seeing what's going on in
7:36
real time you know and I tell people all
7:38
the time like I pay for my mom's uh
7:41
first trailer that we lived in 3 500 it
7:43
wasn't bigger than this room damn me and
7:45
my mom and my sister live in there you
7:46
know what I'm saying and before she
7:48
kicked me out I mean how you gonna tell
7:50
me that's not success I went on the
7:52
streets I hustled up this money I helped
7:54
my mom out and my sister that's success
7:57
in anybody's book I'm not looking at the
8:00
consequences of who I might have hurt
8:02
like they don't it don't it don't make
8:04
sense right because to me it's all
8:06
business then you know what I'm saying
8:08
but now I definitely don't right look at
8:10
it like that so you know anybody that's
8:12
going through something like that I I
8:14
respect it because you have to get to a
8:16
certain point of your life where you
8:17
realize like oh okay well maybe there's
8:20
another way I can go about this right
8:22
and and you know just coming for where
8:26
we come from
8:27
um
8:27
you know success is is
8:31
about you you know what I'm saying but
8:34
the real [ __ ] is about everybody else
8:37
yeah that's real success yeah you know
8:40
what I'm saying like that's
8:41
and that's where I'm at pretty much now
8:43
it's just like why write the book now
8:45
I'm like why not that's why that's what
8:47
I want to ask you because you have to
8:48
also be in a certain mind space to me to
8:51
write a book and so how did you sort of
8:53
because this sounds like you're very
8:55
open in this it's not that you're not
8:56
open with us at least but what kind of
8:59
how did you prepare yourself for because
9:01
you're going to check out a little bit
9:02
right so I was saying with success is
9:05
about two significances about everybody
9:06
else is what I was trying to say okay
9:08
okay
9:09
um well I write the book now okay so and
9:11
you can relate to this you know when I
9:12
was coming up and I was locked up in
9:15
boot camp uh you know I love music I was
9:17
listening to music when I was young
9:18
because I learned from it I didn't
9:19
listen to music how people listen to
9:21
music to like to beat like the Rhythm to
9:23
like the rhyme I'm listening for the
9:24
data and I fell in love with Tupac when
9:28
I was um when I was in boot camp I had a
9:30
little radio and I heard them on it and
9:32
I heard the first songs I heard was Dear
9:34
Mama and uh so many tears and I just
9:38
felt like he was talking to me like he
9:40
was sitting right there was on the top
9:42
book I was on the bottom and we having
9:44
to come and I was in I was like this is
9:47
he stood for something you know and I
9:49
wanted to stand for something as well
9:51
because coming from where we come from
9:52
again nobody really stood for nothing
9:54
everybody just kind of did what they
9:55
could do you know what I'm saying nobody
9:57
was
9:58
about to fight nobody was about you know
10:00
rebelling back against the struggle
10:02
everybody was kind of like I'll take
10:03
what I can get right other than the
10:05
people that was taking penitentiary
10:06
chances that I didn't know was paying
10:08
attention chances then so to answer your
10:10
question is like you know
10:12
when I started trying to do music I was
10:15
more so focused on the CEO part and that
10:18
didn't work so now I had all my money
10:20
invested
10:21
um and I had a studio and I had nothing
10:23
but time
10:25
and one of my homies like you should do
10:27
it you know because the artists we had
10:29
when they went to jail everything was
10:31
happening I was just like you know what
10:32
so I worked at it for like 10 years to
10:34
get to a point and I started having some
10:36
success and when the minute I got some
10:37
success
10:39
I immediately you know went from streets
10:41
watching trap or die but if you think
10:43
about top pox movement it was thug life
10:45
that wasn't about being a thug though
10:47
that was about standing for something
10:48
right so thug motivation to me was my
10:51
first entry to that so it was about the
10:53
class yeah so I want to teach and reach
10:56
and build so that's what I did musically
10:59
right and I saw the impact of that so
11:02
now I was a grown ass man and you sit
11:04
back and you see all the melee that you
11:06
caused and all the you know the wrong
11:08
decisions you made to lead people you
11:09
like hold up Adam went out here and
11:11
learned all this [ __ ] all this knowledge
11:14
let me figure out a way right to pour it
11:17
back in yeah to these black men out here
11:19
and these people out here trying to
11:21
figure it out because
11:22
I've been privy enough to get out and
11:25
get some real mentors and and really
11:27
connect with some real leaders and start
11:29
to understand that you have to be
11:31
transparent yeah that you have to be
11:34
open-minded that you have to be
11:37
vulnerable because they're strengthening
11:39
that a real man ain't tripping you know
11:41
I'm saying a light a lion is a lion yeah
11:45
even if he cries he's still alive yeah
11:48
and for me it's just like you know it's
11:51
definitely not about the money
11:53
um
11:54
is is more so somebody gave me Think and
11:57
Grow Rich and it changed my life you
11:59
know the book Think and Grow Rich yeah I
12:01
read it a few times and I'm like damn
12:03
like it is so much knowledge in this
12:06
book and I kept just learning things and
12:07
now mind you you having regular
12:08
conversation with people but you got the
12:11
answers
12:12
you know you got the answers like you've
12:14
been reading this book like a textbook
12:16
and people are going through things and
12:18
they're asking you questions as if you
12:20
are smart yeah
12:22
and you just got the answers and and to
12:25
me I was just like yo this is a lot of
12:26
powering books so during the pandemic
12:29
I really didn't have anything to do
12:31
because the touring stopped you know of
12:34
course I had business stuff going on
12:35
real estate and all that but creatively
12:39
I didn't yeah have nothing to do so I I
12:42
started to write the book and over the
12:45
pandemic I was just writing and writing
12:47
and writing I mind you
12:49
um
12:50
I wrote it the best way I could without
12:52
incriminating myself okay
12:57
you changed some names in the book I
12:59
didn't like I have my lawyers look at a
13:01
lot of stuff like I don't know about
13:02
this one I said we got to change it you
13:04
know right because I don't want to be
13:06
like somewhere sitting down they were
13:08
like gotcha
13:09
because I mean I don't think people
13:11
understood like you know and I'm not you
13:13
know I'm not up here the brag talk but
13:16
like I had a lot of just a lot of
13:19
nightmares you know uh just making my
13:22
transition from the streets to music you
13:24
had nightmares what I used to have the
13:27
worst man what would it be about like
13:29
how because I went cold turkey you know
13:32
when I when I got out of the streets I
13:33
went cold turkey like it's it's some
13:36
[ __ ] out there right now that still
13:37
owe me some money okay literally
13:39
because I had my work phones and I threw
13:42
them away but I knew if I tried to go
13:44
back and collect what people owed me
13:46
that I would be back in the game yeah
13:48
right so it was only one way to do it to
13:50
walk away and you know I shot out the
13:52
tip for that because tip was the one
13:54
telling me like bro you can't do both
13:55
like it doesn't make sense yeah right
13:57
and then you know if you listen to what
13:59
people say in the music you think
14:00
everybody's doing both but they're
14:02
really not yeah you know what I'm saying
14:04
yeah it's like these people right here
14:06
tell you they just own all these mollies
14:07
and Percocets they're not
14:09
you know what I'm saying they're not
14:11
doing that you know they just it sounds
14:12
good so I get it and and uh I threw my
14:15
phones away
14:16
and that was my only connection to the
14:18
streets anyway so I went cold turkey now
14:20
mind you
14:22
um it was a little you know it was it
14:26
was a little scary because that's the
14:27
only way that I was taking care of my
14:28
family and paying my bills and I had
14:31
real bills like it wasn't like I was
14:32
living and the apartments nowhere like
14:35
that you know I'm living you have 550
14:36
monthly bills right okay
14:39
and now I'm dependent on rap you know
14:41
what I'm saying and it's like I ain't
14:43
got a deal yet I'm depending on rap with
14:45
mixtapes you know what I'm saying so
14:47
there's that and um just that process
14:50
you actually the nightmares it was just
14:52
like when you've done something so long
14:54
it don't seem wrong and then people
14:56
around you start going to prison like
14:57
and getting real like Buck Rogers is you
15:00
gotta really like sit down and go like
15:01
okay [ __ ] I know I'm next so I'm
15:03
preparing for that
15:05
me and you hanging out and all three of
15:07
us hanging out and we getting busy then
15:09
you go to prison she go to prison and he
15:11
go to pre like what's what means I ain't
15:13
next yeah we together you know what I'm
15:15
saying we we're moving the group and so
15:18
now it's like oh [ __ ] so a lot of my and
15:21
I don't think a lot of people know that
15:22
a lot of my first half of my career up
15:26
until the recession like I was depressed
15:28
and didn't even know the word for
15:30
depression I had anxiety and didn't know
15:32
the word for anxiety you know what I'm
15:34
saying I was I was I had post-traumatic
15:37
stress and didn't know the words for
15:39
that right how did it show up
15:42
well it started to show when I started
15:43
to get what do you mean like when did it
15:45
happen like how like what are some
15:46
instances where you're experiencing
15:48
anxiety is it before you go on tours no
15:51
this is like real this is before like
15:54
rap okay I'm experiencing anxiety
15:56
because I'm paranoid I'm thinking that
15:58
the fear is gonna kick in my door any
16:00
day yeah I got issues with people on the
16:03
other side of town who are just as
16:04
violent as and and it's about the issue
16:06
as I am
16:08
um I uh I don't know if this rap thing
16:10
is going to work yeah
16:13
I'm running low on money you know what
16:15
I'm saying and I got all my childhood
16:17
trauma and all the things that I've been
16:19
through in the game and did you have
16:20
kids during this time too I had my son
16:22
yeah I had all these things that I was
16:24
going through in the game that you know
16:26
I don't really want to talk about on the
16:27
radio but like it was just real life
16:29
[ __ ] you know what I'm saying and I'm
16:31
dealing with that all at the same time
16:33
on top of the fact that I'm starting to
16:36
get buzzed I just got this depth Jam
16:38
thing going and then I had polyps on my
16:41
vocal cords that's right I tore my vocal
16:43
cords and operation and had that I had
16:46
to sit out for a while and I had an
16:48
operation I didn't have insurance so I
16:50
had to pay for it out of brown paper bag
16:52
Champion paid for it no they I didn't
16:55
want them to know because if they knew
16:58
coach Kaden was like yo we can't let
17:00
nobody know yeah he was right though you
17:02
know what I'm saying he was right
17:03
because he was like you let them know
17:04
they're going they're going back out
17:06
you know you're the hottest thing on the
17:07
streets was Jade there by that time no
17:10
no he wasn't there okay Kevin Lyles and
17:12
L.A Reed was there Shakir Stewart
17:13
blessed so and by the way all these
17:15
things that happened and then um
17:17
so I get over that and then I want to
17:20
make sure I say this right then I I
17:22
because I wasn't taking care of myself
17:23
so I was like 260. you know I'm you know
17:28
65 pounds overweight something like that
17:30
because my whole diet is Crystal and
17:32
Waffle House and wings for Magic City
17:35
yeah that's how I'm living yeah because
17:38
I didn't know anything about health and
17:40
taking care of my I'm not drinking water
17:41
I'm not doing any of those things so
17:44
all this is going on and I'm trying to
17:46
like you know just figure out my life
17:47
and the nightmares that I was having was
17:50
about how I had left the game and I
17:53
needed money
17:55
and I was trying to make one or two more
17:57
plays and I got caught you know I'm
18:00
saying so I'm waking up like sweating
18:03
and heartbeat like this is oh my God
18:06
like no you know what I mean I'm not
18:08
even bullshitting right yeah no it was
18:10
for real bro like and I went through
18:11
that
18:12
for a while and I just like you know
18:13
like I said I just got rid of my phones
18:15
and I just like you know I just trusted
18:17
in God I was like you know I know I got
18:18
a bigger purpose so just show me you
18:21
know and
18:22
by that time you know what I'm saying we
18:24
dropped thug motivation 101 and we was
18:26
Off to the Races man a lot of people
18:28
don't even know like I had to mix the
18:29
motivation 101 with sign language with
18:32
sign language yeah because I couldn't
18:33
talk
18:35
I had to mix it with sign language
18:37
Through the Wire moment kind of yeah
18:39
yeah yeah I was having to write it down
18:41
tell them to turn this up turn this down
18:42
it was serious man and I you know I had
18:44
all the success going
18:46
and um I had all these shows lined up
18:49
like the money was there like I could
18:50
see it it was in a bag it was in a box
18:52
like it was there but I couldn't go on
18:55
the road because I couldn't I couldn't
18:56
talk how long was the recovery time it
18:59
almost took about it I say almost a year
19:01
yeah yeah it was about eight months yeah
19:03
and there's a lot of opportunities I
19:05
could fill up a year yeah and I and you
19:07
know in eight in eight months you can be
19:08
not even relevant anymore yeah you know
19:11
what I'm saying and so you get to that
19:12
and then you know I get my voice back of
19:14
course uh shout out to uh Mama Jan like
19:18
she's a vocal coach for like Justin
19:19
Bieber on them so she had to help me get
19:21
my voice back
19:22
um so I got that and then I went on to
19:24
success and then after that that's when
19:26
the bottom fell out you know when thug
19:27
motivation came yeah I don't got to tell
19:30
y'all about all that dude yeah the
19:32
bottom fell out there now I was like oh
19:33
[ __ ] I'm going to jail let's talk about
19:36
that and if I don't am I going to be
19:39
able to write another album like this
19:40
one because I'm not doing that [ __ ] no
19:43
more there's no way yeah and all that
19:46
was going know man and
19:47
it was just one of those moments and and
19:50
then you know things just started
19:51
happening and
19:52
um you know I just started to
19:55
you know really go into a downward
19:57
spiral because
19:59
I didn't really know who I was and what
20:01
I was doing because I left what I knew
20:03
yeah I'm trying to be a rapper I'm not
20:06
really a rapper I can't really get in
20:09
the room with these guys and because
20:10
this is what they do right you know what
20:13
I'm saying like tip is a rapper you know
20:15
I mean he's an emcee yeah you know I
20:17
mean like this is a skill set they had
20:20
I'm telling stories about my life you
20:22
know what I'm saying and that's how I
20:24
looked at it and it wasn't until the
20:26
recession was why I really came into my
20:28
own like I have arrived yeah and that's
20:31
a big part of my success and then that
20:33
started to happen and then my main man
20:35
you know Shakira Stewart you know God
20:39
bless his soul man from Oakland too yeah
20:42
yeah man this was my backbone like this
20:44
was my go-to guy this was the guy who
20:46
was telling me what I need to do I need
20:47
to do it it was really a lot of my
20:49
confidence you know what I'm saying he
20:51
was a big piece of my confidence because
20:52
I wasn't I didn't think I was that good
20:55
you know he would come in there and
20:56
boost me up like you know what I mean
20:58
like just the one you know he was DJ
20:59
Khaled before DJ Khaled you know what
21:02
I'm saying and um
21:03
you know when that happened and you know
21:06
just going through all these things and
21:07
I don't I don't want to make it sound
21:08
like it's a a bad thing because I
21:11
learned so much and every everything
21:14
that happened was supposed to happen how
21:17
it happened because I wouldn't be here I
21:20
wouldn't be able to look somebody Square
21:21
in the eye and tell them okay even in
21:23
the book like in my experiences this is
21:26
what I know to be true yes this is what
21:29
I understand it could and possibly can
21:31
happen right and this is what I'm gonna
21:34
tell you that even if you've done wrong
21:36
uh 40 50 of your life you still got
21:40
another 50 of your life that you can
21:42
make it right
21:44
you don't have to stay in the same space
21:47
for real just because that's the way it
21:51
was set up you can change the narrative
21:54
you know what I'm saying and that's what
21:57
I was
21:58
that's what I was born to do change the
22:01
narrative yeah right cheesy man I love
22:03
this man um the proof is in the pudding
22:06
you got a beautiful family got amazing
22:09
wife that's my colleague my homie yes um
22:12
and I love seeing you in this role yeah
22:14
you know the the Father the the parent
22:16
the husband yes sir how how has that
22:20
worked for you personally I mean you see
22:23
it baby my skin glowing
22:32
man
22:33
it's happiness
22:35
yeah it looks really good I love my
22:39
family man yeah I love I love my Dynamic
22:42
I love the way we rock I love how we
22:44
people don't understand it because it
22:46
ain't for them to understand and you
22:48
know just as well as I know like
22:49
my wife from the bay so I don't know why
22:52
people get it misconstrued she's just
22:53
like us on the low bro that's what I've
22:56
been trying to tell them
22:58
like I have to calm her down
23:01
I'm way too classy
23:05
leading people alone
23:10
cheesy that everybody's a teacher that
23:13
enters our life in your relationship
23:15
with Genie are there any new habits or
23:18
new beliefs or beliefs that you
23:20
sharpened while being with her I mean
23:22
you know my wife is she loves to save
23:24
money I I didn't you know
23:31
um what I I would say to family you know
23:34
what I'm saying because I came from a
23:36
broken home so I didn't besides my uncle
23:38
house and his wife and I told him that
23:40
they was at a house the other day I gave
23:41
him their flowers that's the only
23:43
besides them in the Cosby's you know
23:46
from what we know that's that's the only
23:49
structure of a family I've ever seen you
23:51
know people sitting down having dinner
23:52
and you know conversing and you know
23:55
cleaning up the kitchen together like
23:56
you know what I'm saying like I've never
23:57
seen that right in in culturally
24:01
um her family they're they're really
24:03
tight you know what I'm saying and they
24:04
really do a lot of things together which
24:06
makes
24:07
um it easier for me to do things with my
24:09
family yeah I've seen my father more in
24:12
the last you know five years than I've
24:14
probably seen my whole life you know
24:16
what I'm saying yeah and even like you
24:18
know some of my cousins and and things
24:20
and it's just like the family part is
24:22
real because I didn't realize
24:25
um how much that affects your life and
24:26
how much that keeps you grounded as well
24:40
people love you for what you do but you
24:42
know you're still human right yeah you
24:44
still have to recharge and replenish and
24:47
you just want to be around and that's
24:48
one thing I learned you know and and I
24:50
should have in the book as well
24:52
I I lost a lot but I gained a lot of
24:55
quality people and my friendships and my
24:58
family ships that I have now I cherish
25:01
them you know what I'm saying because
25:03
good people man that's like that's
25:05
that's what life is I mean you get all
25:06
the money in the world yeah I've seen
25:07
some people that are stupidly rich and
25:09
they just alone like you just be like
25:11
damn dog nobody want to hang out on the
25:13
yacht with you yeah
25:22
I've got a couple callers I want to get
25:25
to it
25:26
says
25:32
free drinks
25:36
look at the DJ who he's spinning for
25:40
um we got a couple of callers I want to
25:42
take but uh just to conclude on the book
25:44
because I know we got to move revolver
25:46
die I told you it was one of my favorite
25:47
childhoods yes yes because we witnessed
25:49
everything I felt like when it came to
25:52
you during that verses
25:55
um with Gucci I knew that would impact
25:57
our community our culture I only saw
26:01
positive things I was hoping to come out
26:03
of it right yeah but I knew that was a
26:05
hard decision to make I know Larry
26:06
Jackson was pressuring you to do it yeah
26:09
yeah Larry was yeah hilarious pressuring
26:13
you yeah
26:14
um but to me it felt like it was
26:16
something you needed to do
26:18
to be the person yeah that you were
26:20
aiming to be well what it was was I had
26:24
already done so much work on myself and
26:27
and
26:28
it was a moment where
26:31
you know
26:33
me a dude would see each other because
26:35
you know when he went away he came back
26:36
you know it was a lot of time between
26:38
that and we would see each other and it
26:40
was just like I didn't feel
26:43
you know
26:44
you know you run into somebody you like
26:46
okay well you know what's up it wasn't
26:48
like that because whatever he went
26:50
through when he was where he was at I
26:51
guess he changed too
26:52
and the energy in the air as far as the
26:55
culture when you lead us
26:57
you can't just leave
26:59
the question mark of what it is right
27:03
you have to get to some type of
27:06
understanding in in some type of
27:09
conflict resolution right and for me the
27:12
verses was let's take it to the music
27:15
right yeah and let's show people that we
27:17
can be in the same building right and
27:20
then let's see where we at with it and
27:22
to me that's what it was about because
27:24
I didn't really want to do it until
27:28
like
27:30
Vaughn died yeah you know fresh had died
27:34
yeah you know I'm thinking about Nipsey
27:37
um you know and it was just a lot of
27:39
people dying I knew in the street and
27:40
I'm like damn like and it's cool when
27:43
you in the streets like that's what's up
27:45
because everybody want to be about the
27:48
issue but it's even worse when these
27:52
kids make it or these young cats make it
27:54
because even like the I don't even you
27:56
know it's crazy because I remember I did
27:58
the Super Bowl party for puff during the
28:00
Super Bowl and I had it at my uh one of
28:03
my compounds
28:05
um Midtown in Atlanta and everybody was
28:08
there Meek Mill Fab and everybody and
28:10
there was this kid standing beside Fab
28:13
and I knew he had something to him but I
28:15
didn't know who he was right and to come
28:18
to find out you know it was pop smoke
28:21
so after he died he just was just like
28:24
damn
28:26
you know what I'm saying and I'm
28:28
thinking about all that as they trying
28:29
to
28:31
pitch this to me and I'm just like yo I
28:34
don't know what they own but I'm gonna
28:36
do this for the culture and I'm gonna do
28:39
this for me and I'm gonna do this for
28:41
the people who out there who
28:44
can't have any type of issues and figure
28:48
out how to work through them because I
28:50
feel in my heart if big and park has
28:53
some real people around them it would
28:55
both still be here you know what I'm
28:57
saying they would both still be here and
29:01
that's the sad part about it because
29:03
once you're gone
29:04
you're gone yeah and everything that you
29:07
had it go with you
29:09
so you taking care of your mama that's
29:11
gone you taking care of you know the
29:15
people that you employing that's going
29:16
what do they do you're a leader yeah you
29:20
know what it said you want to you know
29:21
you want to kill the body kill the head
29:23
you know what I'm saying and
29:26
I'm gonna tell you like this you know
29:28
and and it's real of me like they say
29:30
when you're born you look like your
29:31
daddy
29:32
and when you die you look like your
29:34
decisions so that's what I'm on yeah you
29:37
feel me I like that yeah Jeezy man get
29:40
this man a round of applies man I gotta
29:41
take one caller man I was gonna end on
29:43
that that was perfect like a movie I got
29:46
callers here hey Lane lingo Langley go
29:49
ahead what's your question hey please
29:51
please good morning to everybody how you
29:53
doing please peace
29:55
hey man I just want to give my shout
29:57
outs to the whole tribe of Sway in the
29:59
Morning HB everybody thank you brother
30:01
thank you sir
30:03
um wait once I bought if I get the uh
30:06
Jeezy HB if she's there man I was
30:08
listening to uh my my kind of [ __ ] with
30:11
her and mop
30:18
Ed
30:23
a lot of people don't know Langley um
30:26
shout out to my brother Omar Epps Omar
30:28
Epps directed that video okay absolutely
30:31
did he was like you gotta do a video for
30:33
this song so that's all Omar Epps shout
30:35
out to my brothers
30:36
something else that song was so full of
30:39
fire but my man Jesus Hey listen man so
30:41
I'm up in Connecticut
30:43
and um I did a little six straight a
30:45
little six piece stretch man and I swear
30:47
that that Thug that 101. in my mind is
30:50
is classic that that thing got me
30:52
through
30:53
you know Max Max facility you know 23
30:56
hours in the cell that that type of
30:58
thing man and um even with the content
31:01
or whatever it was it still showed that
31:04
you know our minds are our minds is what
31:08
it is man and and most people go to Ivy
31:10
League schools and learn the [ __ ] that
31:12
we learned outside on the sidewalk right
31:15
I got out got right to it man and when I
31:18
get that feel if I'm slacking or
31:19
whatever man I throw that goddamn
31:21
one-on-one in and I can do it man that's
31:24
what it is I missed the customer service
31:26
but man uh I applaud all of the work
31:28
that you've done man that I've seen of
31:30
course I don't I don't know everything
31:31
that changed okay yeah but that's what
31:34
it is a little
31:38
talks that's what it is man stay up King
31:41
and just stay on your pad baby just
31:43
don't let none derail you all right hey
31:45
man we appreciate you brother you're a
31:46
super citizen too in the morning
31:48
um we got draw D from Detroit what you
31:50
want to say to Jeezy what up dude what
31:53
up though did you there
31:56
homie
32:12
hey man I just want to tell you keep
32:14
doing what you're doing you know what
32:16
I'm saying and uh man stay motivated you
32:19
know cause we from that side you know
32:21
what I'm saying already you know and I
32:23
mean you don't really understand I'm in
32:24
your city on the 14 man so oh man we
32:27
there every time yes sir understand man
32:30
you know what I mean I'm gonna say
32:31
freeze you know what I'm talking about
32:33

journalist right I did deeper deeper
33:38
research right you know yeah you went in
33:41
I used to go in a little deep when I was
33:43
younger and um and I saw a lot of the
33:45
things I knew I know a lot about your
33:48
story even stuff we never even talked
33:50
about just from affiliation people I
33:51
know that know you right but reading
33:53
this book man it gave me a different
33:55
understanding of who you are as the
33:56
person as a human being you know and
33:59
you're not the sum of one thing you're
34:01
the sum of all things right all those
34:03
decisions you made and so it's great to
34:06
see uh to me this is like a love story
34:09
this is like a success story it's a
34:11
motivational story but there's a lot of
34:13
people who walk similar paths as you who
34:15
can learn from it and learn a higher
34:17
frequency of thought that mindset is
34:22
really would be switching yeah it won't
34:25
be not enough change change your mindset
34:27
change your life mindset to change your
34:29
life your whole life and when people
34:31
have that Revelation right they walk in
34:33
the room and their skin shine right yeah
34:35
yeah
34:37
you know the cocoa butter do his job
34:42
you got a manicure you got a pedicure
34:44
you're on that high frequency man do it
34:46
