US, Los Angeles: Perris Wind-driven Placentia Wildfire Destroys Several Buildings.

Los Angeles, United States - May 21, 2026 05/20/2026 06:36 pm GMT-0700 PERRIS, Calif. — A wind-driven brush fire in Perris quickly spread to multiple structures Wednesday evening, destroying three buildings before firefighters stopped the forward progress of the blaze, according to fire officials. Crews with CAL FIRE Riverside Unit and Riverside County Fire Department responded shortly after 6:35 p.m. to the area of Placentia Avenue in Perris following reports of a vegetation fire. Firefighters arriving at the scene encountered a small field fire that rapidly spread under windy conditions, igniting several nearby buildings. Due to the fast-moving nature of the incident, additional fire resources were requested to the scene. Officials estimated the brush fire burned approximately three acres. A total of three buildings were destroyed in the fire. At approximately 7:36 p.m., fire officials reported crews had stopped the forward rate of spread. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
