US, Los Angeles: Athens LASD Deputy-Involved Crash Into Hydrant.

Los Angeles, United States - October 13, 2026 10/13/2026 12:03 am GMT-0700 ATHENS, Calif. – A traffic collision between an Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department patrol vehicle and a fire hydrant occurred at the intersection of West 120th Street and South Vermont Avenue. The incident was reported this evening with water flooding the street due to the broken hydrant. The California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene. The collision resulted in the blockage of the intersection. Initial reports indicated uncertainty regarding the extent of injuries. Units arrived on scene shortly after midnight, and it was confirmed that a Honda Fit sustained major front-end damage after colliding with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department unit. Both a deputy and another individual from a second involved civilian vehicle were transported for medical attention following the traffic collision.
