Minnesota, United States - June 19, 2026 Dramatic hail covered parts of Fridley, Minnesota, just north of Minneapolis, as a powerful storm swept through the area on June 19. Footage and photos captured by Jeremy show intense hail falling across a residential neighborhood, quickly coating decks, steps, and lawns in a thick layer of ice. In some locations, the accumulation was deep enough to resemble freshly fallen snow. Residents shared images of piles of hailstones collecting across outdoor surfaces as the storm moved through the area. The unusual scene highlighted the intensity of the weather system that impacted parts of the Minneapolis metropolitan area. Meteorologists say strong thunderstorms can produce significant hail when powerful updrafts repeatedly carry ice particles through freezing layers of the atmosphere, allowing them to grow before falling to the ground.
