US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Homes Nearly Burn After Suspected Illegal Fireworks Ignite Tree Part 1.

Bakersfield, United States - July 05, 2026 07/04/2026 10:30 p.m. GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Two homes nearly caught fire late Saturday night after suspected illegal fireworks ignited a large tree between the residences. The fire was reported just before 10:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Castro Lane. Witnesses said illegal fireworks being set off in the area may have sparked the fire. Heavy flames were seen coming from a large tree located between two homes, prompting residents to evacuate. One resident was seen grabbing their dog while leaving the home. A nearby grass field also caught fire, with flames spreading toward items in the rear yard of one home. There was possible exposure damage to at least one residence. No injuries were immediately reported. The official cause is under investigation.
