VARIOUS OF MOON PARTIALLY COVERING SUNBIZERTE, TUNISIA - AUG. 12, 2026: Hundreds of people gathered in Tunisia’s northern Bizerte province on Wednesday, Aug. 12, to watch a partial solar eclipse. The public viewing event was organized by the Tunis Science Center at an observation point in Sidi Mechreg in the Sejnane area. Families and children filled the observation site to follow the eclipse with special solar glasses distributed free of charge. Participants watched as the moon partially covered the sun during different stages of the eclipse. The eclipse began in Tunisia at around 6.40 p.m. local time. About 59% of the sun was covered in the capital Tunis, while the coverage reached around 56% in Bizerte. Solar eclipses occur when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, with the type of eclipse visible depending on the observer’s location.
