Organized by astronomer Maram Kaire, director general of the Senegalese Agency for Space Studies, the event provided special protective glasses and a solar projection telescope for safe viewing. The eclipse began in Dakar at 6:25 p.m., reaching its maximum at 7:12 p.m., when about 36.6% of the Sun was obscured by the Moon. Participants watched the Moon move across the Sun through projected telescope images and protective glasses, while some recorded the celestial event on their phones. The partial eclipse lasted about one hour and nine minutes in Dakar, ending as the Sun set over the Atlantic Ocean at around 7:34 p.m.
